We spent a night at Vaanavil Farm Stay with our family, including our two kids (aged 10 and 2), and it was a truly refreshing experience.
If you’re a nature lover who isn’t chasing over-the-top luxury, you’ll find this place delightful. It offers a perfect balance — clean, comfortable, and simple, with an earthy charm and all the basic amenities you need.
It’s one of those places you really have to visit to understand — words hardly do it justice!
Sudhakar (the super host, who even treated us to a lovely little music performance), his wife Naushadya (a warm and wonderful host, and an amazing cook), and their daughter Vanya (with her adorable smile) made us feel right at home.
Initially, we were a little surprised by the food pricing, but the moment we tasted their lovingly prepared, truly unique home-cooked meals, we knew every bite was worth it.

The saga of Sudhakar n Noushadya is quite striking so much so that their very first blog 5-6 years ago had caught my attention amidst umpteen number of others in this realm. I didn't need to think twice then to subscribe to their fascinating and intriguing stories and watch these guys knit their lives along this less-trodden path - though dreamy yet difficult. From the very beginning, i liked their honest reporting of their experiments in this way of living. They published their failures and the lessons they learnt from it very promptly and candidly, in contrast to many of their peers reporting only their success stories. This undoubtedly has increased my respect for them manifold.
Almost a year ago or so, i got a chance to visit their farm, along with my friend. Though these couple were out of station then, we indeed got a first hand knowledge of their honest endeavours. To be frank, we were so bewitched then, that we decided to visit this farm soon with our families.
Suthagar, Noushadya and their cutie pie chipmunk Vanya made our day through their lively and spirited interactions, along with all other endemic creatures in their farm. A big and hearty shoutout for all of them.
There are lot of things to do and it all depends on your interest and time. As it dawned, Suthagar took us along with our families for a short trek to the nearby hillock followed by the farm visit. What i like most in him is the way he disseminates his knowledge in this domain - most of them he acquired through practice, trial and experiments. He religiously documents these things and teach others with a scientific temper.
During their stay at this farm, one should try to savor the food they serve at least for a single time. We went for the breakfast and it was indeed a healthy yummy wholesome serving which we couldn't keep ourselves from going for a second and even for a third helping. One would definitely fall for the dining space - open and connected to nature. Sudhakar pulled up a snappy jamming session during our breakfast time and enthralled us - in particular the kids :-)
Kudos Suthagar for taking that giant leap of faith - to become one of the trailblazers in the quest for transition from the corporate rat race to the serene farm life, and successfully being an avid protagonist for so long.

Great place, great vibe, great people, great food – and such a soulful experience! ❤️ We stayed for 3 nights with our 2-year-old and had the time of our lives. This is definitely going to be our annual tradition!
There’s so much to do – a light trek, farm tour, a beautiful waterfall nearby, and even the peaceful Papanasam Temple. But the real highlight? The amazing hosts, Sudhakar and Noushadya, who made us feel so welcome with their warmth and lovely conversations.
Already counting the days till we’re back! 🌿✨

Noushadya and Sudhakar are the warmest hosts anyone could hope for. The place is very simple, super functional in design yet aesthetic. The structures are naturally cool despite the hot summer outside. Our favorite hangout spot is the dining area. The places are kept super clean.
Noushy's food is something that you look forward to every time of the day. She cooks the most delicious yet light meals with all the ingredients straight from the farm to the table. The fruits you are served are fresh from the tree to the table.
We loved the calm away from the city storm and this place is very inspiring to embrace a simple and minimalistic lifestyle.
The couple are very resourceful in terms of arranging for quick transport to the places in and around. Despite the location being away from the Ambasamudram buzz, it never felt aloof. The ecosystem and the support system with which they run the show and the knowledge that they have of the place makes you feel super secure. Do not miss Sudhakar's music and the board games. This is the best vacation that my husband and I have taken with the kid in a very long time! A must visit!

Vaanavil like its namesake is an exceptionally beautiful place. Nestled amidst serene greenery, it is a breathtaking place for unwinding and getting back in touch with nature. The place is very convenient for all age groups and is close by to all local attractions. The hosts - Sudhakar and Noushadya are an AMAZING power couple and the home cooked meals are out of the world. Consider yourselves lucky if idiyappam is on the menu :). You ll definitely want to come back for more. Highly recommend this to all.

Thank you Noushadya and Sudhakar for hosting us. Vaanavil is for anyone who is looking to disconnect from technology, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the simple joys of farm life. They are an epitome of simple living. Their hospitality, the beautiful surroundings, and the chance to experience farm life firsthand made it an unforgettable stay. From the moment we walked in, we were highly impressed by the spaciousness and thoughtful design of the room, impeccably clean and well-maintained, with all the basic amenities you could need for a comfortable stay at a farm. Everything felt very at-home, keeping simplicity, sustainability and nature as priority.
An integral part of the stay is getting an opportunity to eat food cultivated by them cooked by the blessed hands of Noushy, so simple and tasty that you will go for multiple servings undoubtedly and of course some jamming sessions from Sudhakar.
It was really impressive to see how they honour and value the local products which are available in Thirunelveli from the bath towels to the mats, supporting small businesses and trying to uplift them. We highly recommend this place to everyone who is planning for a staycation amidst a farm, learning and understanding a Vivasayee’s life.

This place is truly a hidden gem, situated near the tiger reserve and with many temples and natural tourist attractions.
A farm practicing organic farming, permaculture and nature restorative practices in a world of plastic and over consumption.
The food is heavenly and farm to table in the purest and rarest of the types available. The Hosts, Sudhakar, Noushadya and the little one make it a homely yet home away from home kind of an experience.
It’s a perfect place for people who want a quiet weekend or a temple visiting vacation with family.
To anyone wishing to explore and start a slow life, this is the right place to stay, slowcation, ponder before you go down this path.

Spent NYE 2025 at Vanavil Farm Stay. It was unlike many other farm stays we have been to - in the sense that, farm stay is not just a theme but you get an authentic and real experience, since Sudhakar and Noushadya are living that life.
The location is great - you have to make an effort to get there (train being most convenient but the closest airport also just 2 hours away). Once you’re there, it does feel like you’ve been given a chance to visit another country without visa or passport. The smell of sand, grass, fresh air welcomes you, as do the lovely dogs in the farm.
The food is prepared by Noushadya using produce from their farm and also sourced from other farmers around. Food was delicious and apart from stealing off some recipes from her, it was also responsible for our afternoon siesta.
Since they have been living there for 5+ years, their knowledge of things to do around is amazing as well and we had a few great outings at Tenkasi, Papanasam, Tiger Reserve. There are also few streams around the farm which can double up as picnic spots and you can spend a few hours there.
This will be a great option for people wanting a real break and be close to nature and also for people with flexible work options (the 5G is great).
I am definitely going to be a regular at Vanavil Farm Stay!
