The views are unforgettable—the olive groves, the sea, and the White Mountains, changing color and mood with every shift of light and weather. Watching them throughout the day was breathtaking—and then some.As retreat hosts, we needed a place that felt both inspiring and welcoming for our small group. Villa Denise was perfect: spacious enough to gather and share meals, yet peaceful for moments of quiet.What made our stay truly special were Thanos, Dionysia, and their family. From the first moment, they welcomed us with warmth and kindness, offering the genuine hospitality that makes Crete so memorable. We leave grateful for the home, the beauty, and the people—and hope to return soon.

Our positive experience with Villa Denise began even before arrival. Denise and Thanos were wonderfully gracious—open to our curiosity and generous with advice, hidden gems, and travel tips. After a long, late drive from Heraklion, we arrived to find the villa even more stunning in person. Cleanliness is paramount to us, and this place was immaculate: crisp linens, fresh towels, spotless floors, sparkling windows, and pristine cupboards. Our sleep was magical—quiet, comfortable, and serene. And let's talk about this view! The mountains melt into olive groves, the groves into the sea—simply breathtaking. Perfectly located minutes from Kalyves and the main roads, this villa is a true gem. We’re deeply grateful to Denise and Thanos and cannot wait to return.

Luxe villa met geweldig uitzicht voor een heerlijk verblijf
☺De villa bestaat uit 3 lagen en wordt zeer goed schoongemaakt. Beneden 2 woonkamers, open keuken, washok, 1 slaapkamer, 2 badkamers en meerdere terrassen. Eerste verdieping met 3 slaapkamers, 2 badkamers en weer meerdere terrassen. En dan nog een goot dakterras met jacuzzi en adembenemend uitzicht op zee, olijfbomen, bergen en dorpjes. Ideaal dakterras voor een BBQ bij zonsondergang. Wij waren hier met 4 personen, maar ook met 8 personen heb je een zee aan ruimte in deze villa. Het zal duidelijk zijn, er is geen gebrek aan terrassen. Een terras voor ieder moment van de dag met uniek uitzicht. In de ochtend wandelen naar de bakker op nog geen km voor vers brood en in de middag dezelfde wandeling naar een heerlijk strand. Thanos en Denise (en de moeder) zullen ervoor zorgen, dat je hier een geweldig verblijf zult hebben. Centraal gelegen voor uitstapjes naar bijvoorbeeld Chania, Rethymnon, Balos, Samaria, Loutro, Preveli, Kourtaliotiko en Kournás. Wij komen graag nog een keer terug.

Thanos si è mostrato ospitale e ci ha fornito diverse informazioni su cosa vedere e consigli dove mangiare, tutte ottimi suggerimenti. Casa bellissima, funzionale, tutto nuovo, pulito e salubre. Ottima esperienza. Siamo stati 4 notti, due famiglie (7 persone). Kalives è un buon compromesso come base per vistare sia zona di chania e sia zona di Rethymno.

☺Die Lage der Villa Denise ist außergewöhnlich mit Sicht aufs Meer und die Weißen Berge. Der Ort Kalives liegt sehr gut, um den Westen der Insel zu erkunden. Die Villa ist sehr gut zu erreichen und hat aufgrund eines Rolltores sichere Parkplätze für mehrere Autos. Das Haus selber ist quasi neu und sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Mit ca. 200 qm bietet es reichlich Platz für 8 Personen - 4 Doppelzimmer und 4 Bäder, eine große Küche und 2 Wohnzimmer. Die Betten sind super, da sie mit vernünftigen Matratzen ausgestattet sind. Die Ausstattung der Küche ist ebenfalls sehr gut. Vor den meisten Fenstern befinden sich Fliegengitter. Außerdem hat es 4 Terrassen auf denen man seine Zeit genießen kann. Davon eine Dachterasse mit Whirlpool, den wir täglich genutzt haben. Das Haus ist voll klimatisiert, was wir aufgrund der guten Lüftungsmöglichkeiten nicht so häufig genutzt haben.
☹Es gibt an der Villa nichts zu bemängeln.

An astonishing villa with the warmest hosts I've ever met! The place is massive and super clean and comfortable. We loved the jacuzzi on the terrace! It definitely made our visit to Crete memorable!

Es war optimal. Viel Platz für alle. Das Haus ist super ausgestattet. Nicht weit vom Flughafen, Chaina ist auch ist der
☺Die Unterkunft ist der Knaller. Das Haus bietet alles was man brauch. Komfortabel und sehr sauber.
☹Es fehlt lediglich ein Grill um auch mal ein kleines BBQ machen zu können. Vielleicht auch auch ein paar Sportgeräte.

If you ever visit Crete, stay in Kalives at this property is beyond expected. We went for a wedding, and everyone that visited us was amazed of the property, the view, the owners!! It is true that Greek people are beautiful and friendly, don’t look other places, if you want the best view of the Ocean in Kalives stay at Villa Denise, we are already planning next Summer’s vacation and will stay there for sure 🙌🏻

Absolutely perfect! Our family had an unforgettable stay at this beautiful villa in Crete. The stunning views, spacious rooms, and private jacuzzi made for a dream vacation. Villa Denise is by far the most spectacular home we have ever rented. Absolutely stunning location, set within a lush flowering garden overlooking the traditional Cretan working village of Kalyves. The 360 view from the roof top terrace are of olive groves, mountains and azure sea. We spent hours sat watching sun sets, eating gyros & drinking wine or in the hot tub soaking in that view whilst the kids blasted their music through the Bluetooth speakers. Everything has been thought of to make your holiday experience perfection and everything is in 5/5 condition. The villa and ALL its contents are brand new & top spec. The beds are even fitted with memory foam toppers. Nothing has been missed off the luxury list. The photos are more than accurate & the view is mesmerising.The host goes above & beyond hospitality to provide an A1 experience. Kalyves is well connected, fab restaurants&beach bars, supermarkets, taxi drivers, car rental & €5 sunbeds on a lovely crystal clear sea/beach .
I can only recommend it to everyone! beautiful, sophisticated accommodation! A real luxury villa! Tastefully furnished, fully equipped accommodation.
Also ideal for groups of friends, as there are no neighbors :)
The owners are nice, they helped with everything!

☺ The villa was beautiful and the hosts were amazing! We arrived quite late and Thanos and his wife happily met us there to show us around and even give us restaurant recommendations. The property is very well finished and well kept - and the private parking is a massive plus!
