The before and after pics say it all!! I returned from a period abroad to a cold house after the heating had failed. 2 sentimental Artist Proof prints had developed significant marks all over the prints. Unsure if anything could be done, I hunted around on the internet and came across ICAS Vilas Gallery and had a chat with Sunil the owner. Quick read The restoration was amazing - trust Sunil. His advice and guidance over the new frame has really brought out the picture - again trust Sunil! Longer read I met with Sunil the next day and was immediately impressed by his knowledge and clear passion for his subject. He immediately diagnosed 'foxing' (I didn't know what it was either!), but he assured me it was completely restorable, but would take time for the process to work. Given the level of damage (see pics), I was not entirely convinced and thought it would look better than it was, but there would still be marks (I was very wrong.) As Sunil had warned, the process might take longer than the initially expected 3-4 weeks, but he regularly kept me up to date with progress. Finally in February he called to say they were ready and we returned for the 'unveiling'. My wife burst into tears of joy at the change. My initial scepticism was replaced with awe at what talented experts could reverse and restore. (again see pics). Aside the environmental conditions, the foxing had occurred due to unsuitable backing and framing, etc. when we took the prints to a high street 'framer'. Sunil took time to explain and show how various mounts and frames would look and compliment the print by drawing the observer 'into' the print. He provided insights into suitable framing and positioning that we had not considered. This was particularly worthwhile as although the prints were a pair, they were slightly different sizes, which meant meant a decision on mount size and frame size. Again Sunil's knowledge and thoughts were invaluable. We returned a few weeks later to collect the framed prints. The prints are extremely well mounted and come with various hanging options. The transformation is truly outstanding and the clarity of the pictures further enhanced by the new 'Artglass AR 70' that was used. In addition Sunhil had prepared a restoration report detailing the work undertaken as well as a précis of the artist and his work. In conclusion, I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Sunil and the gallery to others who need art work restored. What can be achieved is amazing. Adding Sunil's passion and expertise to the selection of mounts will only enhance how it looks when finally displayed.

Just picked up our picture and it looks amazing. The gentleman in the shop is very knowledgeable, we spent about 40 minutes discussing frames,surrounds, glass. He explained and showed us how different frames, surrounds etc picked out different things in the picture. It wasn't cheap but definitely worth it as the whole effect is stunning. Highly recommend using this shop.
