Great experience!
My husband and I have used Viadelsole on 3 separate occasions on their self guided hiking trips. It has been great to work with them. This is a fantastic group of people. From start to finish they are responsive, dependable and trustworthy. They are very familiar and knowledgeable with all the hiking areas in Italy and it is clear they take pride in what they do. The accommodations they arranged for us were all wonderful. They each had their own special character. They arranged to have our luggage transported everyday, and the luggage always arrived without a problem. They provided a guide book and a gpx app. On one occasion, a friend we were traveling with injured her leg, and the kind Viadelsole folks arranged to take her to the next location. Every single person we have interacted with at Viadelsole have been kind, generous with their time and very dependable. While hiking very long distances, it was always so comforting to know that they were always available to answer our questions. It gave us peace of mind. Special acknowledgments to Antonello and Cristina. We can't wait to plan our next adventure with them.
Via Francigena Bourg St.. Pierre to St. Martin with Viadelsole.
Four of us walked the Via from Bourg to Pont St. Martin during the July heatwave. The organisation of the trip by Viadelsole was immaculate and Antonello went above and beyond to arrange Hotel choices and kept in touch frequently to update us on any changes to the itinerary. The route is spectacular and somewhat demanding (we are in out late 60's and early 70's) but we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. All the B&Bs ( Maison Bertin, Lo Matson & D'ARTEmisia) were superb and we were warmly welcomed and well looked after in each one. Hotel Italia on the pass, had clearly just opened, and was disappointing. The other Hotels (Bivouac Napoleon and HB Aosta) were good. Due to a last minute Hotel problem in Etroubles the taxi transfer back and forth for one night worked seamlessly. The gpx files for the self guidance worked really well and for 99% of the route were accurate, only being wrong were a landowner had fenced off a path. The scenery is amazing and there were plenty of places on most days to get food and drink. Despite the heat we explored the various Roman remains and Churches. My only advice if you like Roman remains is to consider an extra day in Aosta or do as we did and catch a bus part of the way having spent a morning exploring the town. I would thoroughly recommend this part of the Via for its varied scenery and would have no hesitation in using Viadelsole to organise the trip, in fact we hope to return next year to do another section with them.
Via Francigena Self Guided Walking Holiday
My wife and I have now used Viadelsole 4 times in the last 10 years to organise our Via Francigena walking holidays. They provide excellent route notes, accomodation is always to a high standard and our luggage transfers were always successful. Support for any problems encountered en route was always available no matter what day of the week. Last but not least, Viadelsole's prices are always very competitive. Can't rate this company highly enough. Will definitely be using Viadelsole again for our next Italian walking holiday.
Best of Tuscany
Had a great bike tour of Umbria and Tuscany. Viadelsole and Daniele took great care of me and my buddy. The rooms were great and out luggage was there for us each day. The routes were as challenging as they were beautiful, and by the end I had to hike a bike up the steepest slopes because my 55 year old legs were fried. My buddy switched from regular bike to an e-bike and was glad he did. Despite the fact that the ride was challenging, I would do this again. Great trip and beautiful country, Ciao.
Walking in Tuscany and Lazio
A walking holiday in Italy with a total of 10 days walking finishing in Rome. Our accommodation was pre-arranged and our luggage transported for us. All the arrangements went smoothly. There was a variety of accommodation including medium sized hotels and small B&Bs all of which were of good quality We were provided with a route app which was easy to follow and the route itself (Via Francigena) went through some beautiful countryside (see photo) and fascinating hill towns. We had a great time
Wonderful walk through Tuscany
Viadelsole coordinated a wonderful self-guided walking trip through the hill towns of Tuscany for four of us. Antonello and his team accommodated our every request, from an extra day in Siena, to an upgrade for one of the hotels, to restaurant recommendations, and even to retrieving a left-behind item. The inns they booked were all quite pleasant and several were magical. The route and route-finding app worked flawlessly and every meet up, transfer and check-in was on-time and smooth. We are very happy we selected an Italian operator instead of one of the UK or US-based "big guys." We highly recommend Viadelsole and thank them heartily for their exceptional service!
Great way to explore Umbria and Tuscany
Well organized, overnight stays are very nice and in great parts of towns or country side. Routes are well planed and with spectacular sights. Unless you are a mountain goat opt for the e-bike option. Some of the roads can be steep and with some rough riding. Staff is great. Eric
Great self- guided cycling tour in Umbria with Via Delsole
We did an 8 day customized self guided cycling tour organized by Daniele of Via Delsole. Thanks to Daniele’s meticulous planning, we were able to explore many beautiful hill towns in Umbria and southern Tuscany by e-bike and rest in comfortable well-located hotels and inns at night. Daniele’s communication and support throughout the planning process and throughout the trip were amazing. He was flexible and adapted the itinerary to meet our interests and needs - even making some last minute route changes. The directions provided on Ride GPS were easy to navigate and the e-bikes provided were in excellent condition ( although quite heavy) with more than enough battery power for long hilly rides. Our bags were transferred for us to the next accommodation each day, so we packed our lunch and went on our way each morning. We had an overall wonderful experience and I highly recommend working with Daniele and Via Delsole for a perfect cycling adventure!
A well planned ride that showed us the breadth and variety of the beautiful Tuscan landscape and its food and wines
Excellent rides showcasing lots of Tuscany. The bike rides have you discovering woodlands and small road in stunning countryside, visiting Italian villages and towns not over taken by tourism. We stayed in hotels in historic buildings with lots of character and amazing grounds in rural venues. We had wonderful food in many of the more rural hotels Great activity to do with friends Really great customer service from Daniele and Beppe, responding quickly to questions and one problem with a bike (and a replacement bike in two hours)
Hills of Tuscany in May
We really enjoyed the Hills of Tuscany one week hiking tour. Highlights were the views of the hilltop villages from the hikes, the white gravel roads between villages, the lodging each night, the mineral baths in Bagno Vignoli, and the regional wines. The support from Viadelsole was very good including availability via WhatsApp during the visit, the detailed GPS routes between villages that could be adapted to our needs and their obvious attention to detail.
Cycling in the heart of Umbria
We had a great experience from start to finish. We did the cycling in the heart of Umbria tour and it was just brilliant. A lot of the hotels were family run and we got a real feel of Umbria and the friendliness of the people. Some of the hotels were in the countryside and some in the towns but all very comfortable and would happily stay at any of them again. The cycling was great and we felt very safe and saw some amazing countryside and sights. We had time to explore where we were staying after your cycle so that was great and very well planned. Daniele was brilliant and our luggage was always where it should be and everything was really well organised. Any queries he answered really quickly and would thoroughly recommend. We may do another tour next year it was fab !! Thank you for a great holiday.
ViadelsOLE
Solo Via Francigena for 28 days/320 miles
I walked from Fidenza to San Quirico in April 2026. The entire trip went without any problems. The accommodation was very good for off season and there was no problem at all with onward luggage delivery. As a solo traveller of 68 years of age. It was reassuring to have easy access to Antonello via WhatsApp who helped with some misunderstandings on my part and with arranging transport for me at the last minute. The daily route maps were also excellent. I would not hesitate in recommending this Italian walking holiday for anyone considering the Via Francigena. It is hard to believe that any company would know the Via better. I plan to complete my final part to Rome next year using them for the third time. Can’t recommend them highly enough. Phots from from of the accommodation attached
Totally recommend!
I can only recommend via del sol to anyone seeking to explore Italy through the Via Francigena, without having to worry to find good hotels, transport etc. They ensure a wonderful and hassle free experience, and are always there to help and assist should you have any questions.

Pilgrimage by bike via Francigena
We recently completed a self-guided cycling tour Via Francigena from Siena to Rome through Viadelsole. The entire experience was exceptional. Communication via email during the planning stages was smooth and efficient, making the preparation process stress-free. Our support person, Daniele, was outstanding — he ensured that our bikes were in perfect condition, all accommodations were well arranged, and our luggages were transferred promptly each day. His excellent communication and reliability gave us peace of mind throughout the journey. As for the ride itself, it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted! Most of the route, which Daniele planned out himself, follow secondary roads. While we shared the road with cars, buses, and trucks, we found that most drivers — especially bus and truck drivers — were respectful of cyclists. There were a few impatient drivers who passed us a bit too close for comfort, but overall, the experience felt relatively safe. Each day had its challenges - distance and climbs. However, every stop along the way told a different story, each rich with its own history and character. We highly recommend Viadelsole for anyone looking to explore Via Francigena by bike — professional organization, great support, and a truly memorable adventure!

Umbrian / Tuscan White Gravel Experience
The two fellows who put this gravel ride together knew what they were doing. If you’re an experienced gravel rider with a regular training schedule you will really enjoy the variety of terrain offered and not be disappointed by the challenges on offer. If you’ve not ridden so much recently or inexperienced with gravel then go the E-bike option and be sure to ride a bit of gravel before leaving. Either way you’re in for spectacular, immersive ride with some of the best riding you may ever do. We particularly enjoyed the Tuscan leg and its iconic climbs. The accomodation and breakfasts are very good, the bikes are of a good standard and backup service thats as good as it gets.

Viadelsole and Antonello is a winning combination!
We just finished week 6 of La Via Francigena with Viadelsole. Antonello, our customer service representative was extremely friendly, supportive and quick to respond to our various comments and requests. He even contacted us before our departure and followed us throughout our seven day walk. Antonello is a real professional and excels in his work. All of the Inns that we stayed were unique in their own way and in general our included breakfasts were very good with lots fresh items on the buffet tables. The included lifts were well scheduled and the drivers friendly.

Good job Antonello!!
Antonello took very good care of me on this journey. I don’t speak Italian so it was great to have an English speaking Italian making the arrangements for accommodations and luggage transfers. The hotels and B&Bs were great.
