We had the best time! Knowledgable guides that kept us safe touring the Tuscan countryside on Vespas. My daughter rode with my husband and my son rode with a guide. Wine tour and tasting were wonderful. Beautiful property and a fun experience. We had a nice time visiting with the other travelers!

Honestly pretty disappointed in this tour. We booked the sunset Vespa tour and it was maybe 30 minutes max with the Vespas.
Someone in the group was told they couldn't drive because their license was a temporary while their plastic card was still in the mail. Although it is valid in the US, apparently that is not good enough which is not what their website says at all. It should specify paper temporary license are NOT good enough for Italy even if valid in the US. Regardless, it didn't matter given how set for failure everyone else was.
We spent about 30 minutes getting driven up to the vineyard. Then we get to try this super beat up Vespa which didn't even have a functioning spring-loaded throttle. The "parking lot" you practice in is a loose gravel path less narrow than a car lane with elevated terrain and trees on the side. You get maybe 2 or3 minutes going over very general usage (nothing about how to keep wrists straight, walk the bike, throttle control, proper braking, or notes about target fixation). Then you get 2, maybe 3, chances to drive about 20 meters to the end, do a VERY sharp turn around, then come back. If you haven't ridden a motorcycle or scooter before, you're very likely to struggle to balance the bike, make the turn properly, or get used to the throttle. After people failed their turns, they were marked as a non driver. Half our group was marked non drivers. Most of the other half PROBABLY shouldn't have been drivers anyway. Someone even fell sideways during the road driving because they still didnt get adequate training. The fact is this is NOT good training and the guide was just making fun of people for not doing it well. She was talking negatively in (bad) Italian. She was shaking her head. She even said children would do better on the Vespas. She was generally super rude and impatient and loud the whole time.
It was honestly very scary and uncomfortable and the only safety gear is a helmet. One person scraped their arm and legs after falling. The guides would just try to hold the back of the Vespa if someone let on the throttle too hard.
After spending about 30 minutes watching everyone get stressed trying to learn, half our group went to drive first and the other half got the tour inside. The tour was fine and the owner was clearly passionate about wine but it took about 30 minutes and for people not overly passionate about wine, you honestly will be confused or bored after 10 minutes.
Then there was MAYBE 20 minutes of driving on the road. The views are stunning but you'll be nearly losing your lunch stressing about the riding on gravel and curves and hills if you don't have good experience. It really detracts from the views. Then we stopped near the vineyard with pretty lackluster views. It was honestly not the best place to stop for pictures, but it was pretty regardless.
Then we spent about 40 minutes drinking a white and red wine, bread, cheese, and meats. The food was ok. Maybe like a 6.5/10. The wine was good (for a casual wine drinker). Besides the lady, the other guides were cool and tried to help everyone out.
Then we went back and got dropped off a few blocks from where we started.
Overall, ok value but not a Vespa tour you should do if thats your selling point. This is the god honest truth and I see the owner talks smack on everyone who gives a reasonable but negative reviews. Regardless of what they reply, this was my honest experience. I was super excited but CANNOT recommend the Vespa tour

First, regarding the driving license issue: the guest you refer to was traveling on a temporary paper permit while waiting for the physical license card to arrive. While that document may be accepted in the United States, visitors cannot reasonably expect a temporary domestic permit to be automatically recognized for operating motor vehicles in another country.
Italian regulations require us to verify valid driving documents before allowing anyone to ride. This is a legal and insurance requirement, not a discretionary decision.
It is also important to clarify that despite your statement, you were not excluded from the experience.
You rode together with the owner throughout the tour and was able to fully participate while enjoying the Tuscan countryside and vineyard visit.
We were especially pleased that you were celebrating your honeymoon, and we sincerely wish the newlyweds a wonderful and happy future together.
Regarding the riding assessment, safety has always been our highest priority. Over the last 15 years we have welcomed more than 50,000 guests, many of whom had never ridden a Vespa before. The evaluation area is intentionally designed to test basic vehicle control before entering public roads. While some guests are able to adapt immediately, others require additional practice, and occasionally we determine that riding on public roads would not be safe for them, their passengers, or other road users.
Allowing unprepared riders onto winding Tuscan roads simply to avoid disappointment would be irresponsible.
The assessment exists specifically to prevent accidents, and unfortunately not everyone arrives with the same level of coordination, confidence, or vehicle experience.
We are also surprised by the characterization of our staff.
Our team spends every day helping first-time riders learn a completely unfamiliar vehicle in a limited amount of time, often in multiple languages. We certainly do not condone disrespectful behavior, but we also recognize that stressful situations can sometimes influence perceptions during a riding assessment.
As for the tour itself, the experience combines Vespa riding, Tuscan scenery, a family-run vineyard visit, wine education, and local food. Some guests are primarily interested in riding, while others particularly enjoy the wine and cultural aspects.
We understand that not every format will suit every traveler's preferences.
We appreciate your feedback, even where we disagree with parts of it, and we are glad that you enjoyed the scenery, wines, and several members of our team. We wish you all the best and, once again, a very happy honeymoon.
