Warning. Not very vegan friendly. Not very vegan friendly. There are items marked vegan or vegetarian on the menu. I am vegan. I ordered two vegan dishes a main and starter. They served a complimentary dish, crisp bread and dips, i asked if it was vegan and the waitress said no except for the chilli dip. I then asked about olives on the menu as they were only marked vegetarian not vegan. The waitress said they were vegan. I also had to ask about some bread they served to the table as it was unclear if it was served as part of my starter or not. After a few minutes the chef came to our table, i did not ask him to, and asked what i wanted. I explained i was vegan and went through my concerns. He then contradicted the waitress and said both the chilli dip and crisp bread was vegan even though the waitress said the crisp breads were not. He also told me it was obvious that the olives were vegan. So i asked why they are not marked vegan and he just insisted that they shouldn't have to as it is obvious. The chef then began to challenge me in front of my friends saying what could they possibly add to olives to make them not vegan. I felt very uncomfortable for the rest of the meal and not a great experience overall. I am of course worried about their attitude as we all know as vegans that the food industry can contaminate our food with animal products like preservatives or colourings etc. that are not vegan. So what else are they considering obviously vegan without checking that they actually are. So in short a rude chef and conflicting views and information about vegan options. I would not recommend, especially for vegan and plant based, and will definitely not be eating there again.

Terrible service with main course plates plonked down on the table by a waiter who couldn’t care less and was, up himself and arrogant. Took 3 separate requests to get the rice served to the table, by which time the main was cold. Food completely over salted, and overpriced for what it was. Live music too loud, and can be described as background jazz that you’d hear in a supermarket. Completely ruined a family meal after a graduation day. AVOID this place like the plague!

We organised a leaving meal for colleague at Turkuaz, comprising 26 of us. The team were excellent in communication before the event, making sure that I was aware of the various choices of menu and area. On the day, the staff were truly fantastic. Everyone received the right food and was looked after expertly - we all had a brilliant time. They communicated with me really well throughout the meal to make sure I received the deposit back. The food itself was really lovely, and this seemed to be the consensus among the whole group. I'll certainly return as soon as possible.

Terrible greeting and service, what a shame that I have to give such a review that is not based on actually eating here because we did not stay because of the service that was non existent, won't explain finer details but we eat out far more than most, and this was poor. Disappointed because setting was lovely.

Had such high hopes of this restaurant, oh was I wrong. Arrived at 8.25 for our 8.30 table. Wanted behind a group of people for 15 mins whilst the tried to squeeze them in. Got seated 20 mins late, only for then to wait 25 mins for anything me to ever greet us and take our drinks order even though many staff walked past us, even cleaned the table next to us. When they did and we mentioned we had been waiting for someone to come and take the drinks order, he suggested we should have ordered at the bar ourselves as it was quicker and told us they are TOO busy. Not even a apology for being a bit slow, obviously not TOO busy as they were desperate to squeeze a big group in before us. The table next to us left as we were waiting saying the service was awful, given this and the lack of apology from the staff we decided to leave. As we left there were other tables and the bar complaining as well. Probably the worst initial experience I have ever had in a restaurant. As said, had such high hopes but never will I even entertain going here again. Don’t even entertain this place if they are busy, they clearly just want to cram it full without having the staff or the attitude to make it a good experience.

I went for an evening Meze with a friend and honestly it was lovely. The interior is a nice touch to Winchester. It’s classy and a really mature vibe which is a nice escape when enjoying a cocktail. I had a glass of wine and my friend had a cocktail. There is a big list of drinks to choose from and honestly their back bar is impressive. There was a great range of high end and cheaper alcohol to pick from. The waiter was lovely and really attentive and a credit to the restaurant . He bought us drinks and helped recommend dishes. We got the sharing Hot Meze which had a nice range of items. The humus was lovely with pomegranate in it and the calamari was cooked well. For £18 I do think it’s a bit steep for what you get but you do get to try a couple of different things. We also got Padron peppers and they were amazing, we would come back just for them . We also ordered some scallops which again were a perfect texture. I wasn’t overly keen on the sauce but that’s personal preference. I cannot remember the name but a pastry with feta in them is a must try here. They do bring you complimentary bread and a lovely Turkish delight with the bill which is a nice touch. I do wish we had a bit more space on the table as it was hard to share on a 2 person table but next time I’ll just ask to push two together. Another nice touch of the place is the social upstairs. After dinner you can have a drink up there or play darts which is a great way to keep people in the restaurant and again the decor is stunning. A really nice hidden gem in Winchester My only criticism is not having the service charge pointed out before I paid. Honestly I would have tipped as the waiter was lovely and everything was really nice (food and drinks) but I am a big believer in hi-lighting service charge so the customer can make up their own mind - especially as theirs is 12.5%. All in all would recommend and look forward to going back to try their oysters.

Delicious and interesting food and a nice atmosphere. The pink blossom decor is lovely. Prices reasonable. Service was a little slow but friendly. Would have given 5 stars but the bill included a 12.5% service charge that wasn’t highlighted by the waiter. Pet hate of mine. I like to choose how much to tip. I did spot it but couldn’t be bothered to argue so just paid, but it spoilt the experience for me.

Food was good, but the portion sizes were small enough to surprise me.

Brilliant food from the eastern mediterranean and beyond, and great value for such a relaxed and characteristic atmosphere. Not quite 5 stars, staff were slightly aloof, although very polite and knowledgable. I ordered the mussels, and they were delicious, but I had no finger bowl or spoon for the sauce. That being said, we left more than satisfied and with empty plates on our table. We will be returning to Turkuaz soon.
