Warning. Not very vegan friendly.
Not very vegan friendly. There are items marked vegan or vegetarian on the menu. I am vegan. I ordered two vegan dishes a main and starter. They served a complimentary dish, crisp bread and dips, i asked if it was vegan and the waitress said no except for the chilli dip. I then asked about olives on the menu as they were only marked vegetarian not vegan. The waitress said they were vegan. I also had to ask about some bread they served to the table as it was unclear if it was served as part of my starter or not.
After a few minutes the chef came to our table, i did not ask him to, and asked what i wanted. I explained i was vegan and went through my concerns. He then contradicted the waitress and said both the chilli dip and crisp bread was vegan even though the waitress said the crisp breads were not. He also told me it was obvious that the olives were vegan. So i asked why they are not marked vegan and he just insisted that they shouldn't have to as it is obvious. The chef then began to challenge me in front of my friends saying what could they possibly add to olives to make them not vegan.
I felt very uncomfortable for the rest of the meal and not a great experience overall. I am of course worried about their attitude as we all know as vegans that the food industry can contaminate our food with animal products like preservatives or colourings etc. that are not vegan. So what else are they considering obviously vegan without checking that they actually are.
So in short a rude chef and conflicting views and information about vegan options.
I would not recommend, especially for vegan and plant based, and will definitely not be eating there again.
