My great nieces just completed the foundations of personal defense 4 hours of instruction. Absolutely stellar instruction geared to their age and fitness level. They have been sharing their experiences with family and friends and feel much more confident. We will be following through with the level two class to practice the skills and memorize them. Don had great advice in addition about situational awareness and tools to purchase. We highly recommend the foundations class and Don as a coach and instructor.
We were in town from Nashville training for 8 weeks. We signed up for Don's class while we were in Memphis. The class was very informative and a huge confidence builder. Don is a plethora of knowledge; he listened to our personal fears and helped us come up with a game plan for that specific scenario. He was very hands on helping guide us through situations, showing us the proper techniques to stay calm and protect ourselves.
If you are considering taking a self-defense class in Memphis, this is the one to take.

I highly recommend Don Adams of Threat Response Training Group. After joining his classes, I have confidence to go out day or night knowing what to look for and how to avoid bad situations. His classes also train in what to do if the unavoidable incident knocks on your door. The goal? Get away. He shows us options and repeated methods that can aid in getting away. This class is a must for anyone.
TRTG is a practical and comprehensive approach to personal safety. The content is well thought out and easy to understand. The companion email communiques provide information applicable to daily life and point to additional resources for anyone to access. Kudos to Don for providing this service to the Memphis community and beyond!
The genius of this class is that it mentally prepares one for self defense - first and foremost. Awareness - Avoidance and De-Escalation. Then physically - with a toolbox of direct and forceful attacks - just enough to escape danger not fight it.
Don Adams is a knowledgeable and detailed instructor- also open to the needs of the students.
Do yourself a favor ! Especially if you live in Memphis - but also just important skills to have for your safety.
Where do I begin? This is definitely the highlight of my week. I look forward to this class. Don is definitely the best instructor I’ve EVER had! I learn something new and very resourceful EVERY SINGLE WEEK. This class is always exceeding my expectations. Not only are we hands on with walking through techniques , it’s also mental. We had a fantastic experience with Don at Threat Response Training Group! A few friends and our 14 year old daughters took the basic course and finished it understanding our own power and ability to protect ourselves in an altercation. We gained confidence and empowerment to take control of dangerous situations. The course was well worth the price and we appreciated Don's enthusiasm.
