More than I expected the tour was amazing, waterfalls out of this world. Pablo our guide for the caves was absolutely fun and fantastic so much knowledge and really enjoyed his job. Our amazing driver the super tall guy forgot his name, made my dream come true went he spotted northern lights and stopped so we can see the marvelous creation of our God!
Winter in Iceland could be so much fun
This trip covered most of the significant scenery of Iceland in winter. The most stunning was the northern light, the blue ice cave and the trail on the glacier. Our guide Johann was caring and responsible. Due to the weather, he adjusted the schedule, so as to make sure the group was safe and not missing one point of interest. He also gave us useful information and recommendations. He drove skilfully just to make sure we were safe and comfortable. We thanked him so much for letting us enjoy our vacation in Iceland.
Esperienza indimenticabile
Yesterday we took South Coast trip and it was one of the best days of my life. All of the visited places were stunning but the cherry on top was visit to Kalta Ice Cave with our guide Paweł. He was amazing and made sure everyone felt safe and satisfied and made plenty of pictures. His stories and jokes made it truly memorable. On the way home our driver noticed Northern Lights and stopped for us to enjoy the views. Higly recommend the whole experiance! :)
We did the Katla ice cave tour in September. Although the cave itself was really small and not as impressive as we thought (it varies depending on the season), the service and our tour guide were exceptional. The landscapes and the opportunity to see an ice cave for yourself are really worth it IMO, however, if you expect to see something like in the advertisement, you may be disappointed. Consider that because it wasn't precisely a cheap activity 🫠
This 2-day South Coast tour with Troll Expeditions was absolutely incredible — one of the best experiences we’ve had in Iceland. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, and we got to see some of the country’s most iconic and breathtaking locations.
We visited the stunning Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, both completely different but equally spectacular. Seljalandsfoss is beautifully framed and peaceful, while Skógafoss is massive and powerful. The Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach was otherworldly with its dramatic basalt columns and crashing waves — truly one of those places that photos don’t do justice.
The glacier hike on Vatnajökull was a major highlight. Walking on ancient ice with crampons and ice axes felt surreal. Our glacier guide was fantastic — knowledgeable, safety-focused, and made the experience accessible while still adventurous. Their explanations about glacier formation and ice movement added so much depth to the experience.
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon was mesmerizing with massive icebergs floating serenely, some with seals lounging on them. Diamond Beach was equally stunning, with ice chunks scattered along the black sand creating an incredible contrast.
What truly made this tour exceptional was our guide, Max. His knowledge of Iceland’s geology, history, and culture was outstanding. His driving skills navigating challenging roads were top-notch, and his friendly, accommodating attitude made everyone feel welcomed. Max went above and beyond at every stop, answering questions and keeping the energy high. 10/10 — couldn’t have asked for a better guide.
The small group size meant it never felt rushed, and the overnight stay was comfortable. Would 100% recommend this tour with Troll Expeditions to anyone visiting Iceland.
We booked the Katla, south cost tour.
Approximately 12 hrs , thought it might be a long day but it flew by.
What a fantastic day, worth every penny.
From the stunning waterfalls, Black sand beach, and of course the ice caves.
The day was topped off with the northern lights.
Thank you to Karina ( probably spelt wrong sorry)
Who was a fantastic driver and very knowledgeable.
And pa Pawel ( again probably spelt wrong 🫣)
Fantastic ice caves guide from troll.is
If you only take 1 trip while you're here, this is the 1.
You won't regret it 😁
Bucket-List Worthy: Snorkeling the Silfra Fissure on the Golden Circle Tour
Wow — what an unforgettable Silfra snorkeling experience in Iceland! Our group of seven ladies (ages 30s through 60s, all from Texas!) did the Golden Circle and Silfra snorkeling day tour with Abbie and James this morning, and it was absolutely incredible from start to finish. We had a mix of seasoned divers, casual snorkelers, and complete beginners — and every single one of us agreed it was one of the most unique and awe-inspiring tours in Iceland. The Silfra fissure between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates is truly magical. We even spotted a few fish — two larger ones (about two feet long) near the start and some smaller ones at the end near the newer baby fissures that opened in 2008. The water clarity was unreal — gliding over shimmering blue and turquoise rocks felt like floating through liquid glass.I was worried about the cold, but it was far less intense than expected! The dry suits kept us perfectly buoyant and warm, though our fingers did get chilly (frozen, really). If Troll Expeditions allows it, I’d highly recommend checking out dry gloves with liners (like the Rolock pair we found online) — it would make an already amazing experience even better.Pro tips from our group:• You don’t need to know how to swim — the dry suit keeps you afloat effortlessly.• Your hair will get wet! Tie it back in a snug low bun or braid for comfort, better mask fit, and great underwater photos.• Wear two pairs of wool socks, plus a thermal base layer (shirt and leggings).• Be ready for a short walk (about 0.4 km / 0.25 miles) from the parking area to the gear site.• The suits are tight! The team helps you wriggle in, but be careful with long nails — one of us cracked a nail while getting into the boot section. If you’re generally mobile, don’t have low blood pressure, and love once-in-a-lifetime Iceland adventures, you must book this tour. No matter your fitness level or comfort with cold water, this is a safe, guided, bucket-list experience. Abbie and James were patient, informative, and so much fun — their energy and professionalism made a chilly activity feel warm and welcoming.Photos were included, but if you have a GoPro with a waterproof case and chest mount, bring it! The neck seal on the dry suit is snug (a bit of pressure from the extra band), but totally manageable and worth it.Tip: Bring rechargeable heated gloves for after the dive — slipping them on right after the dry suit makes the post-snorkel warm-up heavenly. In short: This is one of the best tours in Iceland — safe, stunning, and seriously worth every penny. We’d do it again in a heartbeat. Five stars for Troll Expeditions and for an Iceland memory we’ll never forget! 🌊🇮🇸✨
