Awesome experience in Icelande
An amazing and unique experience! Everything was very well explained and organized. The small group size made it even better, and all the instructors were great, especially Luca. Friendly, professional, and reassuring throughout. An unforgettable experience that I highly recommend!
Good for the price you pay
Overall, my description of this tour is “good” for the price. We logged over 900 miles on this Ring Road tour. We saw a lot and got a good feel for the country. It was a lot of riding in the bus. I don’t think I realized it would be that many miles over 6 days. So prepare yourself. Bring snacks and things to do. I would have liked a more robust commentary during the tour from our guide. I felt like he was more of a driver who told us where we were stopping and how many minutes we had at each stop. With the exception of one place, he did not walk with us to answer questions or give more directions. He was nice, friendly and knowledgeable but there were so many missed opportunities to elevate the tour experience. It would have been nice to have an overall summary at the start of each day letting us know the timing of meals and options for meals. Breakfast had similar items each day, typical European breakfast. Lunch options were minimal on some days, i.e. gas station or grocery store. If you have food restrictions like gluten-free or vegetarian, it may be challenging to find food. I like healthy options and that wasn’t always possible. The food options were a disappointment on this tour. In all fairness, we were in some remote areas, so there may just be very limited options. Hotel accommodations were basic, 2 or 3 single beds in each room. 3 stars at best for the hotels but were clean. Bring a sleep mask and ear plugs for some locations if traveling in the summer. The excursions that we did were great. Fantastic guides who were enthusiastic and provided unique experiences.
Fantastic trip with amazing scenery
I booked this tour because of the beautiful scenery pictured with the tour description on the Tröll website and because of the included adventure activities and optional extras. It exceeded my expectations in both regards! The highlight of my tour was getting to see all of the amazing and varied natural sights as we travelled around this spectacular country. Our tour guide, Haffi, was very friendly and knowlegeable, and made the tour fun and interesting. The guides for the special activities were excellent as well and took good care of our group. My husband and I took advantage of all the optional extras, and we did not regret our decision. We thoroughlly enjoyed all of it and thought it was worth the additional cost. The accomodations varied from the more rustic Tröll properties to larger and more upscale hotels in some other locations. They were all suitable, though. The included breakfasts had plenty of options and gave us a good start to our day. The only downsiide to the hotels was that the rooms were often quite warm, but that seems to be typical across Iceland. The one negative during our tour was that meals could have been better coordinated. Since Haffi is a native Icelander, he knows the country well and asked if our group would like to see some extra sites that were not included as part of the tour. We said we did, but that added extra time to the day, making for long days and difficulty with dinner plans on multiple occasions. My husband and I enjoyed all of the places we visited, but we would have preferred to spend less time at each location, so we could eat earlier and have some down time at the end of the day. In all, this was a very memorable trip, and I'm glad I chose this tour over some of the others I had looked at. It was a great experience traveling with a small group from several U.S. states and other countries, rather than on a more impersonal big bus tour.
Cervical compression after instructor put the diving hood on my head
I had a terrible experience with Troll at Silfra. I never write reviews but this one needs to be told to warn you and future customers. Here is what happened: The instructor unfortunately deeply hurt my neck when she tried to put the helmet dive suit on my head. I am tall and she is shorter than me so she asked me to bend my head to manage this. She applied too much force and I felt immediately a strong pain in my neck. I never suffered from any neck pain or condition before fyi. The night after was awful and I could barely sleep. Considering my current physical condition and the activities planned for the rest of my trip, I decided to consult a chiropractor in Reykjavik - the only place in Iceland where you can find such specialists - to fix this (which was obviously not in my plans and had bad consequences on my short holiday program in Iceland). It helped to relieve the pain but it was still hurting due to muscle and ligaments inflammation. Therefore I had to consult another osteopath as I came back in France. As I write these lines pain is still there and is - very slowly - going away. The two specialists I met confirmed that it would have been definitely more appopriate to let me put the helmet on my own. They also explained me that I suffered from a CERVICAL COMPRESSION. Of course I related to the instructor my problem at the end of the session (I didn't want to create any trouble / delays during the exploration with other people waiting and was still hoping it would go away after a few minutes, which was obviously not the case when I got out of the water). I would have expected then at least an apology from her/ when I told her the situation but none came. And when I asked the staff where I could find a practicioner no help as well. Just laughs ("there is no one in Iceland" is what they replied) Then I wrote to their customer service support to report the situation, asking for a refund of the experience and of the Chiropractor bill. They replied in telling me that as I completed the tour everything was OK on their side. They also told me that the respected their procedure, ensuring by doing so that customers would not damage their expensive wetsuits (!!!!!!!). They never admitted any fault and just let me down. Especially considering the very high price paid for this experience I would have expected a minimum level of professionalism and decency. I told them I would tell my story and this what I do now. Now what is done is done, but I would never recommend to anyone this company, even though the snorkeling is in itself amazing (and luckily it has nothing to do with Troll.is)
Mein Kritikpunkt, man musste jeden Tag früh aufstehen.

We had an incredible time in Iceland, it feels like an island from another planet. Through this tour we have managed to see 6 or 7 waterfalls (including walking behind the waterfall), geysers, black sand beach, a huge crater, an ice cave, puffins, seals, whales, and honestly I can go on. One thing that made this trip very special was our host Jakub, who went above and beyond to make our trip memorable, cater to everyone's needs. He was also very knowledgeable around hidden spots that were not even part of the itinerary. Certainly one of the most memorable trips of my life, trying to think of something negative to balance the review, but can't think of anything, even the weather was amazing. I would highly recommend this tour and agency to anyone, if we decide to do a winter tour in the future, we know where to look for.
We joined the Golden Circle day tour on 13 June, and our guide Cora was amazing. She was warm, cheerful, friendly, and also a very cool and charming woman. Her explanations were professional, comprehensive and full of interesting details, while also being very humorous.
The tour was well organised, and she managed the time reasonably while doing her best to let us experience more local Icelandic scenery and culture. I really enjoyed the whole day and would like to thank Cora for making the tour so memorable.
We booked the tour with viator and our guide is Nat. We had little problem finding the meet up place because the vik inn is often associated with hotel vik in Google map but managed to get to the meet up point on time by clicking the directions directly from the app. Its so cool to travel in the monster truck across the vast lava ground to get close to the glacier tongue where the cave is. Nat did a very good job explaining about the glacier and ice cave and we absolutely enjoy the tour with troll and Nat. definitely recommended!
