This is the definition of a bucket list activity and I know I will be talking about it for years to come. I am not the most experienced hiker, so the 4x4 glamping option to drive up the mountain followed by a ~2 mile hike to basecamp was a perfect fit! I was blown away by our guide, Leo. He was incredibly knowledgeable, accommodating, encouraging, and a joyful presence for the entire trip. Once we arrived at base camp, our tents were already set up and totally picturesque. No detail was forgotten (down to cute potted plants on the bedside table!). The team that set up the camp was waiting with hot sandwiches, tea, hot cocoa, and had a fire burning the second the sun started to set. The views from basecamp are unbelievable and unobstructed. I was so grateful to be able to rent supplies (as simple as gloves all the way to a backpack) from Trek before we headed up the mountain as well. The briefing given by Matt the day before the hike was incredibly helpful and left everyone feeling prepared and excited. If you are looking to make a core memory, I can't recommend Trek Guatemala enough!

This was my first trip to Guatemala and I could not recommend the cultural walking tour of Antigua enough to anyone who wants to explore the city and connect with the history! Our guide, Nolwenn, was absolutely wonderful. She had such an impressive depth of knowledge regarding the history of Antigua, all the way back to the pre-Maya days, and highlighted so many fascinating architectural details that I would have never noticed on my own. She was incredibly thoughtful, even go so far as to avoid stairs when she could once she heard my group had completed a challenging hike the day before. The office itself is wonderful as well, offering water and other beverages and a convenient home base to leave any shopping bags or take a restroom break. Thank you to the entire team for such a great experience!

I LOVE walking tours, and the Antigua cultural tour didn’t disappoint. The booking includes entry to multiple historic sites, churches, and convents. We learned so much from our guide, who went above and beyond, mixing her exhaustive knowledge of the city’s history with fun anecdotes. She also answered our MANY questions and gave us great restaurant recommendations. I highly recommend doing this on your first day!!!

We took a 4x4 up the volcano with Leo as our guide, hiking only about 2 miles to base camp and then summited Acatenango the next morning! It was truly an unforgettable experience with amazing guides, comfortable facilities, and great food! The 4x4 was a great option if you’re worried about the hard hike, while still having the chance to get steps in! Even just the views from the base camp were astounding… can’t wait to come back! Thanks Trek!

Highly recommend for all around Acatenango experience! An absolute must if visiting Antigua area. We had the best time with Trek Guatemala. Our guide Leo was so knowledgeable about the history of Fuego and Acatenango and how intertwined they are with the community. not recommends

for their so called luxury tents they advertise from 169 dollars per person on their website but when you scroll down they list all their prices and its only that price if its 8 to 10 people, if not ITS REALLY 249 dollars per person. thats the old bait and switch tactic. nope, our mission group of 45 are going with another tour agency. learn integrity people.

Fede, we don't advertise our luxury glamping tents as $169, that is the price for our normal camping tents, which anyone can clearly see on our Acatenango Overnight Hike webpage (linked below). And yes, we offer that price to groups of six guests or more. However, we specialize in small group travel, not groups of 45. So yes, I think going with another tour agency is a fantastic idea.

Completamente recomendado!!! La idea muy buena y super bien ejecutada. Además, los acertijos son complejos. Lo bueno de todo es que puedes tomarte tu tiempo y hacer todo a tu propio ritmo, por ejemplo nosotros nos tomamos un tiempo para almorzar. Me gustó que tiene una parte para aprender más de la cultura e historia guatemalteca. Super recomendado para salir un poco de lo común, y sin importar si conoces Antigua seguro será super entretenido y desafiante. En lo personal, me sentí como en la película de Jumanji y cada pista era emocionante, super recomendable todo. Mi única sugerencia sería añadir algún "premio" pequeño al final del recorrido para recordar esta aventura.

What a fun and interactive way to explore Antigua whilst having a 'mission' to solve! We completed this with our two 11 year olds in 2 hours (we could have taken longer to explore the stops along the way) and they commented how it didn't feel like 2 hours! A win for sure! The experience gave us an awesome insight into Antigua and its history while having fun problem solving together. It was like experiencing our own 'Amazing Race.' Overall, highly recommend! Go for it!
