Waited over an hour for ramen at the Williamsburg location and the service was honestly terrible. Our server barely checked on us, and when we asked what was going on, we were just told the “ramen is coming soon.” It didn’t come out for over an hour.
It was also 93 degrees and extremely humid, and the restaurant felt brutally hot. When we asked about the AC, we were told it was already at the lowest setting.
We had ordered a bottle of sake that we finished long before the food came, which made the wait feel even more ridiculous. When the ramen finally arrived, there was no real apology or attempt to make it right. Then they brought out the dessert menu before we were even finished eating, which felt absurd after making us wait that long.
For context, 3 bowls of ramen, one appetizer, and one bottle of sake came out to around $210. At that price point, waiting over an hour in a hot restaurant with almost no communication or accountability felt pretty unacceptable.
Would not recommend.
Update: Tonchin originally responded by saying they “course out” the ramen to arrive after the appetizer, then deleted that response after I updated my review. Screenshot attached. We waited 45 minutes after the appetizer came out in the heat, with no check ins, no clear communication, and no meaningful apology.
Calling that “coursing” is deflection, not accountability. The “please let us know next time” part was also an attempt to dodge responsibility, because we did speak up and were still left waiting. The onus shouldn’t be on customers to chase down a bowl of ramen.

Hi James, thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. We are sorry to hear that the experience you had this time did not meet your expectations. We apologize that the dining room was really hot, although our ac was at the lowest setting. We had our technician look at it after your feedback. Regarding the wait time, we generally course out our food. Since you ordered appetizers, we put in the order for ramen so that it gets delivered to your table after you finish the appetizers to ensure you have the freshest made food as possible. However, we can absolutely serve everything without coursing, so please feel free to let us know next time. We sincerely hope you give us another chance in the future.
Ate here last night with my date and both got terrible stomaches. The ramens were really oily. Won’t be back.

Hi Camila, we are so sorry to hear about your experience. If you'd like, please email us info@tonchinbrooklyn.com with more details. Thank you.
The service here was simply, not here.
When taking order, the server sounded impatient when I asked about extra toppings. During our dining time (just a little over 1 hour), we got rushed at least five times with “are you finished with this?”
I’ve been to the Manhattan Tonchin and I had wonderful food and service there. This Brooklyn branch is just really disappointing.
Solid ramen spot for non vegetarians. As a vegetarian you are only limited to one ramen which makes sense given the famous tonkotsu. But the spicy miso veggie ramen was delicious with great choices of toppings and flavorful broth. The best part was the roasted potato and the matcha cocktail. The vibe was intimate and nice. I don’t think I will come back given the price but an amazing spot for date night.

Hi Anmol, thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for us and sharing your thoughts! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed our vegan offerings, and sincerely hope to have you again in the future.
Very good ramen but steep price! We came for the lunch special so it was definitely more worth it with an appetizer (the pork taco is amazing!). However, the lunch special menu did have a few things on there that required extra $.

Thank you so much for your review, Hong. We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your overall experience at Tonchin and appreciate you sharing your thoughts. We sincerely hope to have you again.
I ordered a spicy ramen, but it took about 40 minutes to arrive. What made it even more frustrating was that several tables who came in after me received their ramen much earlier than I did. I asked the staff twice about my order, but it still did not seem to be handled with any urgency.
And the ramen was not tasty at all. The flavor was disappointing, and the overall experience felt disorganized and unfair. I understand restaurants can get busy, but better service, communication, and food quality are really needed.
