I’ve been taking conga classes with Facundo Alvarez. Tocar Percusión, and it has been an incredible experience! From day one, Facundo sets things up so you’re actually playing along with songs and backing tracks, with videos that are easy to follow. The amount of musical genres you get to explore is incredible you really get a well rounded percussion education. His availability, flexibility, and immense talent as a musician really shine through, making the learning process both fun and effective. Working with him is extremely valuable, you also learn how to read sheet music, which has greatly improved my skills. My percussion abilities have increased tremendously thanks to Facundo’s guidance. Highly recommended for anyone looking to learn percussion online.

Asisto a sus clases en línea desde Italia. Aunque trabajo, Facundo es muy disponible para adaptarse a mí, a pesar de la diferencia horaria. Las clases están bien adaptadas a mi nivel de principiante y realmente estoy viendo mejoras. También es muy disponible fuera de las clases para cualquier aclaración.

I've been following Facundo Alvarez's YouTube channel for a while, and this year I finally signed up for his conga classes to improve my skills. I'm so glad I did. Facundo is a highly committed and authentic teacher. His instructions are incredibly clear, easy to follow, and enjoyable. I especially appreciate the practice program and lesson materials he makes available for personal use. He genuinely cares about his students and is always finding ways for them to improve. I highly recommend Facundo Alvarez if you are serious about improving your percussion skills!

I took online Bongo lessons from Facundo for 1 year. He's in Argentina and I'm in Chicago yet the way he teaches doesn't matter where you are located, it works. Facundo is very passionate about persussion and teaching. His passion is very inspiring. I really wasn't sure if I would be able to learn but I got to the point where I could hear music and figure out how to play it. Lessons with Facundo was truly an amazing experience, I highly recommend him.

In the October of my life, I decided to prove to myself that even a person with no talent can learn a musical instrument. I chose the right instrument (bongos) and the very best instructor, the latter out of sheer luck. Facundo is in a league of his own, an amazing teacher. He has the most well thought-out and comprehensive support for learning - from musical notes to videos of training basic rhytyms as well as of playing to specific tunes. But most importantly, as I long-time teacher myself, I can vouch for the fact that he is an extraordinary teacher. Foremost, he is an empathetic human being who meets you where you are in life and in learning the instrument. He mixes the right elements of disciplined practice with liberated experimentation. He senses where the learner is and provides the next steps in learning. He is always pleasant and positive in demeanor. I can keep going but I am pinching myself at the sheer good fortune of having him as a teacher. Indeed, with his help, I am beginning to think that, despite being talentless, I can do well on the bongos. I give him my highest endorsement and strongest recommendation.

I've been studying bongos and congas with Facundo, and the experience has been fantastic. The classes are well-structured and easy to follow, which makes learning both enjoyable and effective. What really stands out to me is the quality of the homework and the online materials he provides. The practice videos and exercises are clear, organized, and extremely helpful for improving between lessons. You can tell he puts a lot of care into supporting his students' progress. Facundo is a great teacher - patient and clear in his explanations. Highly recommended for anyone looking to build solid skills in percussion.

He tomado clases online de djembe con Facundo en Tocar Percusión por más de un año y la experiencia ha sido muy positiva. Empecé sin experiencia en percusión y hoy puedo ejecutar con confianza los distintos sonidos del djembe, aplicar patrones rítmicos con musicalidad y coordinar mis manos más efectivamente. Mis avances se deben en gran parte a la manera en que Facundo enseña: explica con claridad, tiene paciencia y adapta el contenido a mis intereses, nivel y necesidades. Además, me ha compartido material muy diverso y me ha expuesto a ritmos de distintas culturas y géneros musicales, lo que me ha permitido ampliar mi vocabulario musical y enriquecer mi forma de tocar. Algo que valoro especialmente es su nivel de compromiso. No solo me guía durante la clase, también me acompaña entre sesiones con grabaciones, hojas de práctica y respuestas rápidas a mis dudas. Cuando le envío videos de mi toque, me responde con feedback que ha marcado una diferencia en mi progreso. Gracias a este proceso he ganado confianza para tocar en grupo y tengo una guía sólida para seguir desarrollando mi técnica y musicalidad. Las clases online tienen la limitación de que no es posible tocar en ensamble en tiempo real debido al delay propio de la tecnología, pero más allá de eso la experiencia con Facundo es cercana, clara y efectiva. Esta desventaja la he solventado buscando oportunidades para tocar con otras personas en mi entorno. Recomiendo plenamente a Facundo a cualquier persona que quiera aprender percusión con un profesor que combina método, conocimiento y una verdadera dedicación a sus alumnos.

My skills (not just my hand-skills, but my thinking and musical cognition skills) have increased so much, and he is always attentive to the particular challenges his students face. lo que tengo para decir es la practicidad del cursó es que puedo ensayar con mucha confianza por el método que facundo usa es muy bueno espero las clases con micho entusiasmo porque en cada clase adelanto siempre algo mas yo los aliento a que prueben para ver lo que les digo y lles digo que yo ensayo mínimo media hora los dias que mas puedas yo le doy cuatro dias de la semana y voy bien bienvenido a los que se van animar abrazo y suerte

Absolutely brilliant. Facundo offers so much more than online classes. Each week, I get emailed sheet music from our lesson to work through and practice, along with links to play-along videos on his website that really support and encourage me to spend the time working through the material. It's typically a mix of items I can manage quite well, and some content that is a bit more challenging. The few times I have gotten a bit stuck or needed reassurance, Facundo was responding incredibly quickly. And the classes are amazing. Facundo has a really good media setup, and he can swap things around to multiple views, so I can either be zoomed in looking at a closeup of his hands as they play along, and slightly zoomed out conversationally, or a split screen with him and some sheet music. He flips back and forth with ease, absolutely seamless. It makes such a difference - it really helps me follow along. And when I make a mistake or get a bit lazy on a stroke or a rhythm... He always catches me and calls me out (in a positive way). He can really watch and correct things like arm position, striking positions on the conga head, and overall cadence and form. Facundo has an eagle eye, and is really good at explaining how to make improvements, and especially when to focus on fixing a mistake before it becomes a habit. Facundo is a great percussion instructor, and so much more. Highly recommend.

Las clases con Facundo son divertidas, faciles de seguir ya que se van desarrollando con un paso a paso muy cuidado, didacticamente ordenado y acomodandose a mi ritmo. Ademas vienen acompañadas de un contexto geografico y a veces historico ( segun demanda) del ritmo que estamos tocando...super bonus track de la experiencia!

I highly recommend Facundo's lessons. I have been working with him for 1.5 years. I am learning to play the congas, bongos, and sometimes the cajon or other percussion instruments (tambourine, agogo, cowbell, etc.). I like the teaching concept because it is structured in such a way that I am constantly improving my skills step by step. I also like that it is very practice-oriented. I like having a large selection of songs to work with so that I can develop my motor skills. I was no longer a beginner when I started the lessons and I was a little skeptical about whether I would be able to do it with online lessons. But I am really very happy that it is working so well. Facundo is also very flexible, so if I ever need to reschedule our lessons at short notice, it's never a problem. I am from Germany myself, and the time difference is not an issue at all. And I don't want to forget to mention that the personal coaching also plays a big role. I now play in two bands that perform in public, so issues such as playing with other musicians, excitement, nervousness, and self-confidence suddenly play a major role. I found Facundo online and was not sure what to expect. I was brand new to the conga and to percussion instruments in general. My expertise lay in other directions. His instruction, along with practice charts and play along songs had me up and running and playing with my church praise band much quicker than I expected.
