What a shame. Such a beautiful place and bar. Banmy way to hard, overpowered the fish, steamed bammy may have been better . Horrible batter to fish ration on the cod fritters - couldn’t taste filling - instead of 5 thin fritters, try 2-3 instead for more cod. Couldn’t taste the veggies in the spring rolls, all wrapping, maybe instead of so many rolls, halve that so each can have more veggies. Mac & cheese perfect
Consistency was cheddar heavy instead of even. Youte better off spending your money at a Jamaican mom & pop store. I’m so disappointed, I was only expecting it to be fabulous, I’m in shock.
We went to celebrate my daughter's 30th Birthday and Bianca started off good but ended on a sour note. Let's talk about the gentleman that was bringing the food to the tables he was Rude with a capital R. With the noise level being what it was and him not projecting his voice over a table of 10 he had an attitude when we didn't speak up fast enough to claim our order but we waited 20 minutes plus for our entrees with out complaining. Then we had brought a personal cake and was told that it was a $25 fee to bring in an outside cake. We'll we had to motion to her at least 4 different times indicating we wanted the cake brought out as we had another event to attend. She seemed star struck with another rapper as she was engaging with them and motioned she was coming then she moves their table and engaged a second time. All along she didnt come to our table 1 time asking if we needed anytime or were we ok. Finally they brought the cake and we elected not to cut as time was of the essence. Their was a couple in our party that recently became well known because of a engagement on social media and Bianca and another server returned with a slice of cake for the couple saying we follow you on Tik Tok and Congratulations. That was very inappropriate as we didnt come to celebrate them it was my daughter's 30th birthday. Staff members should not be Star Struck in a away that it infringes on the party and make it uncomfortable. Very Classless! Besides the service everyone did enjoy the food.
Please believe the reviews about the meatless oxtail. I ordered the oxtail wrap with fries and received bland, fatty, and meatless oxtail. I love oxtail so I was truly disappointed! The drinks were grossly overpriced so I didn’t even bother! I traveled an hour + to finally try this restaurant :-(
Went back to Brooklyn for a baby shower, was staying at the Marriott downtown, googled Jamaican restaurant near me when we discovered Simpsons, game charger my new spot every time we visit the city. The food was so good my partner couldn't stop eating it, tge jerk wings were too spicy for me but he gave it a 10/10, my Oxtails was 10/10 fall off the bone juicy and tender, my rum punch was the best I've ever had (although I'm African been to enough Caribbean countries to be a good judge) the whole ambiance was just our speed, cant rave enough about this place its a MUST!
We visited The Simpson for my aunt's birthday. Although it was a rainy day, the atmosphere inside was the opposite. We were met with kindness and exceptional service from Junior B. and Francisco. The food was incredible. The highlight was the pepper shrimp: to die for. Just the perfect amount of spice and flavor that's left out at most other Jamaican restaurants. Authentically inspired Jamaican flavors. Definitely will return!!
The other day I checked out the The Simpson in Bk and had an enjoyable evening. We went to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We had the honey curry wings, escovitche fish with festival, breadfruit, and the steamed fish with bammy. The wings were okay. More sweet than curry. Both fish dishes were made with red snapper. The escovitche was good but the steamed fish was phenomenal. I especially liked pumpkin and bammy in the sauce. The breadfruit was fried to perfection and the festival was soft and delicious. The server was nice and attentive and gave us great suggestions for dinner options. We enjoyed our meal and I will definitely dine here again in the future.
The food was amazing. Adrian was one of the best servers I’ve ever had. He had incredible energy and provided great service, making my experience unforgettable. I will definitely be back.♥️
