A lovely way to explain change
One of my niece’s grandparents recently began using a wheelchair, so this book came at a really helpful time. It gave her a different way to look at mobility aids and helped make the change feel less strange or worrying. The father and child relationship is lovely, the illustrations are warm, and the message felt easy for her to understand.
A Superhero Dad
Seeing the world through a young boy’s eyes made this story especially touching. His father has multiple sclerosis and uses a wheelchair, but to his son he is a real superhero. Their days are filled with love, laughter, and meaningful moments together. I liked how the focus stays on their strong family bond rather than the illness. It is a warm and heartfelt read that encourages kindness, empathy, and understanding.
20 stars!
I wish I could give this twenty stars. I'm in my 30's and walk with a cane. Many of my friends have at least one amputation from military service, and books like this are incredible for cutting through the mystique of being 'disabled.' Incredible story, and thank you to the author for sharing your story!
A heartwarming way to explain living with MS
Because sometimes I have to babysit, I like reading to my niece and nephews things that will leave them a message, in this case Ms, what it is and that in this story the illness didn't made his daddy love him less. I liked the part that he made sure he had a normal childhood, they liked the electric wheelchair.
The Most Heartwarming Children’s Book We’ve Read This Year
My Superhero with Wheels touched my heart in a way few children’s books have. The story beautifully shows that strength comes in many forms and that mobility aids do not define a person’s worth or abilities. My child immediately connected with the loving father-child relationship and came away with a greater understanding of inclusion, empathy, and resilience. I especially appreciated how the book presents disability in a positive, natural, and empowering way without feeling overwhelming. This is a wonderful resource for families, classrooms, and caregivers, reminding children that heroes are defined by love, courage, and presence—not limitations.

Excellent
Wonderful!
Great story with beautiful illustrations. This is a good book for any child that has a parent with a disability. Very heartwarming. Highly recommend.
“M”ost “S”pecial book I’ve read in a long time!“M”ost “S”pecial book I’ve read in a long time!
As a family living with a disabled child, this book has offered understanding, hope and kindness. It focuses on what the family can do verses what they can’t do in very relatable terms for children. My son truly enjoyed reading this book because it increased his awareness of others’ challenges which makes him feel less alone. I love the concept Morello highlights of a disability being “special” and not “scary” and how the superheroes around them choose to use those powers and inspire them to live up to their ABILITIES!!! I absolutely love this book and highly recommend it to ALL children (and even adults) to increase acceptance in our communities.
Heartwarming!
This is a wonderful book that helps children understand what it’s like to have a family member living with a disability, all seen through a child’s perspective. The story is easy for young readers to follow. It’s also a touching father-and-son story making it a great choice for families to read together.Anita

Hero on Wheels
A heartfelt children’s book that beautifully portrays a father with MS as a true superhero in his child’s eyes. Rather than focusing on limitations, it highlights his strength, resilience, and unwavering love. The story is simple yet powerful, delivering an important message about perspective and what it really means to be strong. A meaningful read that resonates with both kids and adults.
Highly Recommended: A wonderfully touching children's book about a dad with a disability and his son
A wonderfully touching children's book about a dad with Multiple Sclerosis and his son. The text and illustrations are excellent and personal, yet apply to everyone. My favorite pages are the last three pages. They include the loving message that even when people's bodies change, their hearts and "hugs still wrap around us like sunlight". That's a beautiful message and likely reassuring for kids to hear. 5-star book all the way. Highly recommended.
