I needed my air rifle sorting out ( would not fire) i contacted a few gunsmiths, not one would work on my mk4 daystate. I was given a telephone number for James at the Gun Works who took my air rifle and got it sorted out. James Contacted Daystate for all parts and got my mk4 shooting perfectly. His product knowledge is second to none. Communication was excellent. Highly recommended Gunsmith. Thank you James.
I would highly recommend James at The Gun Works! I took my BSA MMC Ultra multi in for a service - being an older generation air rifle it has been a number of years since it was serviced by BSA (and I wasn't impressed with the service BSA gave and I had to pay for postage each way via an RFD). James is friendly, clearly knows his stuff and carefully explained what he would do with the Ultra, and offered advice where appropriate. He was attentive to my questions and it was blatantly clear that my beloved air rifle was in very safe hands.
Despite being a 90 minute drive away, I will without a doubt use The Gun Works again - James was also happy to offer me advice and suggestions on a shotgun issue I had.
As a matter of interest the cost of servicing my BSA Ultra multi was the same that BSA charged me 10 years ago when the rifle came back with a piece of paper that simply stated "serviced" - The Gun Works provided me with a receipt showing a full breakdown of the service carried out and I know that the air rifle will be tuned to its most effective state as carefully explained by James. It was also reassuring knowing exactly what the cost would be as that was explained in detail when I dropped the air rifle off too.
Thank you James. Top class service and I will see you again!
I would highly recommend James. I took my HW100 to the Gun works for a service as it was low on power and starting to feel it's age . James did an amazing job on making an already great rifle so much better . Power and consistency is spot on and it feels better than new to use . 5 star service .
I took my S510 Extra to the gun works as I wasn’t happy with the power output from it. James talked me through what he would do and how he would do it and was confident he could tune the rifle to where I wanted it.
A week later I had a phone call saying it was all done and when I collected it he talking me through how he tuned it and also gave me a shot count and power output sheet. I took it home and set the rifle back up and wow! The pictures say it all at 50yds. Thank you James, you provided a quick, knowledgeable service at a great price. I will most definitely be recommending you to anyone who needs work doing on there air rifles/firearms.
I was extremely pleased with how expertly James at the The Gun Works serviced my small collection of air rifles. He restored a BSA Meteor III, a gift from my father over 50 years ago, replacing the spring and turning a part to ensure a good seal in the chamber. He also replaced the mainspring on a Diana 470 TH with a Weihrauch equivalent instead of the standard Diana or Titan springs I had previously fitted which gave nasty surge. The difference was his knowledge and skill as a gunsmith. All my rifles are shooting superbly as they were designed to do. They will do so for years to come, and I have something special to share with my family, who love a bit of competition with their old man. I have no hesitation in highly recommending The Gun Works. Well worth the scenic trip.
Outstanding work from James every time.
He has made a huge difference to the performance of my rifles.
Customer service at it's finest as well!
Cannot recommend him highly enough
