What a magical place!
Bees bower was so special, we ended canceling some of the day trips out to enjoy the tree house, it's veranda and the views, the sun was out and it was perfect. The site is so quiet, except for the noise of the wildlife surrounding it. Will.defi why be back. Matt and Rachel were lovely as well. The photos on the website really don't do it justice, so go amd see for yourself. Amazing place to rest and recuperate xxx
I stayed here the inside of a week in March in Bee's Bower. Totally rejeuvenating. There has been so much thought and care put into this cool and quirky place. And very comfortable too - excellent bed and bath. One can go for gorgeous walks on Offa's Dyke, there's a cosy little pub and wholefoods store nearby, the lack of artificial light at night means one's nervous system can totally reset. Very caring hosts ready to meet your needs. Birds hopping and chirping just outside your balcony. Highly recommended
I recently stayed at Goytree after being a runner up in a competition, and it turned out to be the most wonderful getaway with my daughter. It is the perfect little hideaway if you are looking to get back to basics and truly reconnect with nature. One of our favourite parts was the outdoor shower; there’s something so refreshing about showering in the open air!
The evenings were just as special, spent sitting by the fire or soaking in the hot tub under the night sky. It was such a peaceful way to unwind.
A huge thank you to Rachel and Matt, who were incredibly friendly and helpful from start to finish. They made us feel so welcome and have clearly put a lot of heart into this place. If you need a break from the hustle and bustle, I can’t recommend Goytree enough!
We had a fabulous time stopping in the Phoenix tree house, our little trip away before having our baby. We had so much planned to see and do but just fell in love and stayed in all weekend, stopped November last of the season, felt so cosy and private! Truly is a slice of heaven! The owners have done a fantastic job and really make you feel welcome and you can feel the passion for their land and lifestyle.
Will definitely be back and couldn’t recommend it enough, perfect for off grid self contained living really does fill the soul

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Goytree and both times have been fantastic. This time we stayed in Bees Bower which has had a full renovation. For our whole stay we didn't feel like we wanted to leave as we were zen AF 😁☯️. It had everything we needed (solar panel, gas boiler/hob, compost loo, books, shower and copper bath). A very simple highlight would be sitting out on the balcony with a mug of hot chocolate whilst listening to the rain.
Our previous trip was to Gabriel's yurt which is also amazing! You get fantastic views of the Skirrid from there. As with Bees Bower, you have everything you need with an added bonus of a wood fired hot tub.
We will definitely be back. It's an absolute must if you want a full reset 💜🐝

Phoenix tree such a relaxing retreat.
We stayed at Phoenix tree for 4 nights it’s such a lovely place. Matt was lovely so welcoming and got us sorted and settled in so quickly and when we couldn’t get the hot water working Matt was down as soon as we realised and fixed it straight away. We had planned to go out and go on many walks but enjoyed the place so much we stayed in most days and enjoyed the outdoor hot tub. Enjoyed the wildlife and being able to be so off grid. Already thinking about booking our next trip there and already recommended to friends. Thanks for such an amazing trip.

Stayed in the Phoenix Tree for mine and my partner’s anniversary and it was such a great experience. The views from the bedroom (in a tree by the way!) were amazing to wake up to. The host was spot on and very accommodating and helpful. Had some perfect nights in cooking up dinner with the fire going.

A new, wonderful experience for us & a perfect place to escape. Idyllic setting & eco friendly environment with the luxury of a copper bath beside a log burner! Showering outside was invigorating & a fantastic way to start the day. Would highly recommend a trip to Mimis Retreat.

Without doubt, the coolest and quirkiest place we have ever stayed in. We received a warm welcome on arrival, having been well-briefed in the days before. Although we didn't enjoy the sunniest weather during our stay, we were always warm and cozy in the treehouse and enjoyed the escapism and beautiful views. Strongly recommend!

Gorgeous Solo 32nd birthday treat!
Thankyou for a wonderful, serene and cosy way to bring in my birthday. Matt and Rachel were super friendly and have thought of everything to make it a comfortable stay. I was in love the way the yurt was decorated and had a perfect view of the Skirrid from my hammock. Flockie the cat as my weekend friend was an added bonus 😻
Absolutely stunning location. The hosts are amazing! We stayed in The Phoenix Tree for our honeymoon and it was perfect. Even though we arrived later than expected, Matt had gotten the hottub and fire going and timed it with our arrival. The hottub and outdoor shower was an experience. The place is very clean, the bedding and towels fresh, and all the lovely extra touches like fresh coffee, tea, oil etc, which make the 1st morning less chaotic. There's also fresh eggs on site. We had every intention of seeing the sights, but the location is so beautiful, we just stayed in the tree, and only left for supplies! The cosy atmosphere, the honesty system for purchasing wood, eggs and extras like late check out, the tranquility of the whole site, being left alone unless you request assistance, just leaves you with a feeling of a holiday well spent. The hosts are super attentive, and just both really pleasant, which was a bonus on top of the beautiful surroundings. Can't wait to come back x

Oh my goddess, what a phenomenal discovery this little hidden gem is! The stars, the scenery & views, the peacefulness and the full immersion into nature. The cauldron-like hot-tub is incredible, the sounds of nature and places to wonder with the dog are beautiful. The log burner inside was a divine, exceptionally wonderful addition, not to mention THE MOST comfy bed in the Land!! The bamboo sheets & Sherpa's on the bed worked so insanely well for anxious people (I really appreciated this as a complete insomniac - I was so warm and comfy, I slept straight through!!) The hides on the floor were wonderful if you forget your slippers and the sofa was outlandishly comfortable. The wife and I had such an incredible time for our 7th anniversary. The process of sustainable, eco-friendly and clear living is one we are working towards, it was so incredibly inspirational and has rejuvenated our dreams. Rachel and Matt have a truly awe-inspiring set up and we'd love to return (Or move in ... )

Amazing cozy honeymoon up a tree
We stayed in the Phoenix Tree for our honeymoon, and what a delight it was! Matt and Rachel are amazing hosts, the bed was amazingly comfy, the hot tub and outdoor shower were an experience, it's tranquil and beautiful. We had every intention of going out, but we literally loved it so much we just spent the entire time in the Treehouse. Its so cozy and romantic. I'm now planning my anniversary return to the phoenix tree. Highly recommend both the Tree and the lovely hosts. Excellent value for money, excellent service, just excellent overall 🤣

Just had a 3 night stay in Bees bower. A perfect wooden structure tucked away over looking the valley. Off grid living at its best and perfect for a quiet get away. Gas cooking facilities in a fully set up kitchen and led light and usb charging points provided by solar. Roll top bath and shower with hot water all the time were perfect. Matt & Rachel were the perfect host and gave us a real warm welcome. Also a short walk to the local pub (the Carpenters Arms) for a pint and a delicious Sunday roast. We will definitely be back!

We stayed in Phoenix tree house, a cute and charming building lovingly hand crafted from upcycled local materials. The setting is lovely, in a secluded corner of a meadow overlooking the Welsh border with Skirrid mountain in the distance. The off-grid facilities all have their individual ways of functioning. There is hot water on demand in the kitchen, loo and outdoor shower. The loo is compost but not too smelly if used properly. There is also an outdoor hot tub which has a separate wood fire boiler. There is an efficient gas hob inside or the option to cook on an open fire outside. We were fortunate to be there in hot weather as the bathing facilities are completely outside and uncovered. I’m not sure I would be brave enough to use them in cold weather. The sleeping loft is accessed by a very steep ladder so wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with any mobility issues. The loft is beautifully designed around an old oak tree and has a lovely comfortable bed. The whole setting is very tranquil and we spent most of the time just relaxing there with a daily visit to Eywas Harold for the butcher and general store. My only criticism was the uneven ground in front of the building. As it’s on a hillside, the ground naturally slopes so there is lots of stepping up and down on uneven, sometimes wobbly slabs. It would be so much better if the little seating deck was extended over the whole front to create a verandah. Also a bit of levelling around the fire pit would make it easier to use and not have everything sliding off!
