A quiet, almost whisper of a corner of Greenside ā quaint enough, though the barbershop next door lets its conversations spill out uninvited like a low, restless tide. Arrived late morning; only staff inside, the space itself barely awake.
This chain has one home that carries true soul ā Fourways. Blairgowaire couldnāt hold it. Greenside, too, feels like a faint reflection rather than the source. The food arrived already sealed in its takeaway container and reheated until the nacho chips edges burned, the chips tossed in its takeaway container without thought, as if presentation were an afterthought rather than part of the offering.
TFV::: A request::: teach the hands in the kitchen how to honor the green salad charge R45 for. Kale given raw and unmassaged is tough, fibrous, unwilling to open. No oil, no tenderness folded in ā something every vegan kitchen should know instinctively.
That sweet potato, instead of arriving earthy and grounded, tasted like a overly sugar-shadow of itself ā-Left untouched.
The spirit of the meal ā that quiet pulse of care Fourways manages so well ā has not found its way into this location yet.

At Greenside we donāt serve raw kale, and we donāt pre-seal or microwave meals. Everything is cooked fresh to order, including our sautĆ©ed kale base which has been part of the menu from day one at Greenside.
We love a bit of poetry, but we do prefer accuracy when it comes to describing our food. If something wasnāt right on the day, we genuinely encourage guests to let us know in the moment so we can make it right. Our team is always happy to help and we take pride in the same care across all stores.

Went in on a Tuesday afternoon. 25/11/2025
1 guy at the counter, stuck to his phone. Was on it while we were ordering, not paying proper attention and got confused with our order as a result. 2 people.
Food came out fairly quickly but he knocked over a drink, phone still in hand. No offer to replace
Was on his phone the rest of the time we were there
I get it was quiet but place actually looks closed from the outside, weather was nice so definitely wouldn't have hurt to have the door open or atleast give the impression it was serving food.
Food was okay but at this price point nothing to write home about. I'd rather go to one of the other franchises that serves vegan options
Disappointing because being plant based for 10 years I try to support the local spots wherever I can, however when the staff don't care, I'd rather go elsewhere

To give some clarity, our staff use their mobile devices to log stock counts and update the system during quieter moments. It may have looked like personal phone use, but it was admin related and we should have communicated better.
The spilled drink not being replaced is also something we will address with the team right away.
Regarding the door, we keep it closed on warm days so the aircon can regulate the temperature. We have previously received complaints about the store being too hot, so we try to keep the space comfortable for everyone.
We also want to speak to something you touched on. Running a fully vegan business is incredibly challenging, especially because the expectations within the vegan community are high and the margins are thin. We are committed to offering honest, plant based food without cutting corners, but we are still human and we are still learning. Feedback like yours helps us grow and stay accountable.

Ordered their Texan Chilli, corn bread. It was divine. Loved the moist corn bread, being a gluten free girlie itās pretty hard to come across moist delicious bread, this with a corn chilli was a clash of two yummy powerhouses, the Texan chilli was spicy, tangy and delicious. Itās my first time ordering here, looking forward to trying all their gluten free options
I have always struggled to find good and fresh vegan or vegetarian options
To the point where I accepted hopefully vegetarian meals or just went back to eating meat.
I ordered their burrito and started going through their menu.
It has inspired a few home cooked meals and I have never had a better burrito before - meat or vegan

Half the menu was out of stock. There was no beyond burger, no Mexican burrito. This was on a Saturday morning. Poor service.

Hi Prinoleen. Your suggestion that half of the menu is out of stock is not accurate. As explained to you upon your visit, The Mexican burrito has been discontinued due to non availability of the On The Green Side pulled tenders from the supplier. Unfortunately that is not within our control. As a small vegan business we depend on certain speciality items being available from the supplier. We would have loved for you to try one of the other meals on our menu but unfortunately you stormed off before we could recommend anything.
Outstanding dinner at The Fussy Vegan Fourways. Friendly service, fanatical attention to detail when changes were required for food choices, great location and ambience, love the graffiti artwork and the food was spectacular. Thank you Fussy Vegan Team, already planning our next visit.ššš¤¤š¤¤
I tried the Smokey JalapeƱo burger and the Texan chilli with cornbread.
The burger tasted nice, but I didnāt think it was worth the price (R135 + R45 for the Beyond patty). The seitan 'fakon' added some smokiness, but it was very soft, so the overall bite lacked some much-needed texture. I also couldn't really taste the cheese or cashew cream.
The Texan chilli had absolutely no heat at all, even though I asked for it to be hot. It tasted decent overall, but lacked the depth of flavor I was expecting. In the end, it just felt like a mushy bean stew.
The cornbread was good at least; fluffy and not too dense.
Donāt think Iād want to come back. Thereās better food to be had elsewhere.
Why have certain things on your menu if you regularly don't have the ingredients to make it?? I do not live close and always take the time to drive through as I enjoy the food, only to be told sorry we don't have this, sorry we don't have that. As a frequent regular I will no longer be going out of my way to eat here anymore. Anyone wanting to eat here make sure you call in advance cause they might not be able to make you anything.

The meals seem expensive but in reality are good value for money because of the generous portion sizes.
No ambience to speak of but the food quality is very good.

Really loved this place! The food was amazing and Werner provided amazing service. I first ordered the taco bowl and it was soo yummy and this weekend I had the Cheese burger and it was literally the best burger I have ever tasted. It tasted better than any beef burger I have ever tried. Definitely sold!
