A very special place Wow! What an incredible place Temple House is. The perfect spot for a group celebration. The house itself is beautiful, a sweeping driveway up to the house, an amazing setting and as you enter the house a huge hallway with a wood burning stove to welcome you in. The living rooms had lovely open fires which made it so warm and welcoming after a crisp winters walk. Roderick was so helpful with all the planning and organisation of the weekend and made sure it all ran smoothly (even lending one of our group cufflinks, as he had forgotten his). We couldn’t fault the food or the service and the bedrooms are lovely. This is a very special place and I would highly recommend it!

Temple House was the perfect venue for a group celebration. The house itself is beautiful, there’s a huge entrance hall with a wood burning stove to greet you on arrival… the living rooms maintain a cosy, welcoming feel with lovely open fires welcoming you in after a walk by the sea (we walked the beach and Aughris loop with a drink in the beach bar). The dining room is amazing and can seat up to 30 people-the perfect place for breakfast overlooking the grounds and for dinner later on! Roderick was very helpful with the planning and organisation of the weekend and we couldn’t fault the food and the service. The bedrooms are each designed with their own personality and were very comfortable. Temple House is a very special place and we had an unforgettable weekend here-would highly recommend it!

Just returned from a truly wonderful stay at Temple House. Roderick and his team are incredible hosts, they go the extra mile and make the stay perfect. It's everything you can hope for from a privately owned estate and stunning house. Food and service and wonderful large comfortable rooms, suited for all occasions. Thank you to all the staff who looked after us. Highly recommend this place.

We couldn't have been happier with our buyout stay of Temple House to host our yoga and poetry retreat! Everything was absolutely magical. The food was incredible, the spaces were perfect for our yoga classes and poetry workshops, and the setting is gorgeous. Roderick and his family, the staff, everyone we interacted with was warm, welcoming, and top notch. Can't wait to go back!

A gorgeous place for a retreat. What a perfect spot my writing coach chose for her first international writing retreat! Our group of 18 spent five nights at the elegant Temple House Estate in Co. Sligo in late September 2025. The bedchambers, filled with enchanting antiques from a bygone era, had high ceilings and large windows, spilling cheeriness over the spacious rooms. The bed and bedding seemed especially inviting after a long day exploring both my writing and the area. Plenty of electrical outlets in the room allowed plug-ins of various electronic devices. The principal rooms, the parlour and the morning parlour, felt comfortable and homey; ready for you to curl up with a book in front of the glowing fire. The grand dining room comfortably sat all 18 of us with plenty of elbow room at dinner with delicious meals impeccably served. The windows of this room provided stunning views of the estate. Walking in our borrowed Wellington boots to the Knights of the Templar ruins on the estate supplied countless opportunities for photography of both the ruins and the Estate. Our host, Roderick and his staff welcomed us warmly, always courteous and helpful in answering our myriad questions. I encourage you to stay at the Temple House Estate. I’d love to go back!

Cannot praise Temple House highly enough. We stayed here for two nights in August for my mother’s birthday. It was a big family group, 20 of us ranging from 8 to 80. The whole stay was magical from start to finish. The rooms were gorgeous, all with their own bathrooms which is impressive for a house this age. The first time driving up to the house through the extensive grounds and rounding the corner through the trees and seeing the house was truly a Pride and Prejudice ‘first time seeing Pemberly’ moment. There are a selection of cosy sitting rooms to choose from, a great selection of board games and a table tennis table (which was a big hit with the kids). They also have an honesty bar with a great selection of drinks including Guinness and Carlsberg on draft. My mum has always been enthralled with the Knights Templar and was absolutely delighted when she discovered there are the ruins of a Knights Templar castle in the grounds. Roderick was a fantastic host, so friendly and welcoming, and organised everything to perfection. He arranged a falconry experience and archery for us, both of which I would highly recommend. We had an absolutely gorgeous three course dinner on the Saturday night in the grand dining room overlooking the lake, all very Downtown Abbey. The grounds are great to explore too, we had a wander round the old stable, orchard and fairy grotto (so pretty). You can also borrow a boat to take out on the lake if you wanted to fish or swim but unfortunately we didn’t have time. Highly recommend and I hope we’ll be back some day.

We stayed at Temple House recently for a special birthday celebration. We were a group of 13 including children and a wonderful time was had by all. From the start communication with the owner Roderick was excellent. He really went above and beyond for us and was a pleasure to deal with. We were all blown away by Temple House and the surrounding countryside. It was really such a special treat and such a unique experience for everyone. We were really impressed at the immaculate condition of the house and how well it is kept. It was warm and comfortable and spotlessly clean. Having the place to ourselves was incredibly special. We took rowing boats out on the lake which was lovely and there was plenty for everyone to do. Food was fabulous and they can cater for any dietary requirements. I would highly recommend Temple House for a family gathering, re-union, wedding or special birthday. We were all left with wonderful memories which we will treasure and will definitely be making plans to visit again in the future.

My husband and our daughter stayed at Temple House around 7 years ago. At the time we had stayed at an assortment of different lodgings in Ireland; hotels, b&b’s and smaller manors. Temple House was by far our favorite. We said that for our 10 year anniversary we would come back with our family. Flash forward to today. Myself, my husband and daughter came back, but this time we brought our younger sons. We’re all a bit older, and a bit better traveled. To say that Temple House hasn’t “changed” in the 7 years since we’ve been here is complicated. Have additional rooms been renovated and added for rental - yes. Has technology been added to help modernize our stay - yes. Has the charm and hospitality of this magnificent estate changed - absolutely not. Something about Temple House keeps bringing us back. Maybe is the paddle boat rides on the lake? Or seeing the sheep freely roam the grounds? Or being able to walk near castle ruins from the eras of Knights Templar, Or maybe it’s relaxing in the sitting room, surrounded by generations of Perceval portraits and listening to Roderick recant his family’s history? We’ll be back to Temple House again, we’re already looking forward to it.

Temple house makes a superb base to explore the many attractions of Sligo and north Mayo. We stayed in the cottage which was very cosy and well equipped. Roderick was an excellent host and very responsive to any queries. Unfortunately we ran out of time to take up his kind offer of boating on the lake which is set within the grounds of the demesne. Looking forward to a return trip!

The cottage is a different experience to staying in the big house. Some groups use it for the overspill and it works well. Thank you for your kind words.

Romantic, if you are into that sort of thing... Have you ever wanted to stay with your man in an Irish Country Home that makes you feel you walked out of a scene from Downton Abbey, and you don't want to pay for pretension? Historic, intentional, great staff, and romantic AF. Temple House is your dream come to life.. Take a week, walk the stately grounds, take a road trip into sea side towns, (Sligo Town, Galway) hike in the North of Ireland, (Éire) and get lost in the 100 plus rooms of Temple House, (Mansion). Its also perfect for a 36th year reunion trip with 13 of your college mates. Thank you, Roderick, for capturing a bit of the magic! Furj P.S. Rest assured, the people won't be as overstated as American like us.

Our recent stay at the magnificent Temple House in County Sligo in Ireland was nothing short of extraordinary. We were a party of 19, gathered from Canada, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland to celebrate my mum’s 90th birthday — and we could not have chosen a more perfect place. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere and the setting is breathtaking and the views over the tranquil temple house lake, the ruins of the former Castle and rolling countryside can be seen from every window in the house. We were very fortunate to have our own private chef during our stay, who prepared exquisite dinners every evening and each meal was a beautifully cooked and served with care. It made the celebration feel truly special. Roderick was incredibly helpful and supportive in the lead-up to our stay, assisting with all the logistics and making the entire experience smooth and stress-free. His hospitality, along with that of the entire Perceval family, made us feel like treasured guests from beginning to end. Our stay at the house is a wonderful and unforgettable experience and we have come home with amazing memories and are already making plans to return.

We had the most unforgettable weekend at Temple House celebrating our granny’s 90th birthday with 19 of us, aged 12 to 90. It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience! The estate is stunning, full of rich family history and beautifully decorated, like stepping into a living museum. We loved exploring the grounds, especially taking the rowboats out on the lake. Rodrick, our wonderful host, kindly lent us fishing gear and life jackets - we even caught two pike! The dinners by chef Carl were exceptional, and every member of staff was warm and attentive. It was dreamy from start to finish. Can’t recommend it highly enough!
