I recently completed the Everest Base Camp trek, and I’m so grateful I chose to do it with Take on Nepal. Our group of 18 women, led by amazing guides Samhjana, Bimaya, Lhak Phuti, and Anil, all reached EBC successfully. It wasn’t by chance or luck that we had a 100% success rate (quite unusual for such a large group, to be honest), it’s because Take on Nepal knows the trek, respects the mountains, has built strong relationships in the community, and genuinely cares for their clients. There are so many companies who offer the EBC trek, including global companies who care more for profit than they do for the mountains and the Nepali people. Take on Nepal is different; founded by Som (a Nepalese man), TON genuinely invest in their staff and community, and in doing so created an experience so much bigger than just the hike. They provided a real connection to the mountains and Nepali culture and far exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to do another hike with Take on Nepal in 2026.

Thank you so much for this powerful and thoughtful review — it truly means the world to us.

Your beautiful words about Samhjana, Bimmaya, Lhak Phuti, and Anil will be shared with them — they will be so proud to know how much their leadership, knowledge, and support meant to you all. Our guides carry not just responsibility for safety, but the spirit of the mountains and our culture, and your recognition of that is deeply appreciated.

We are especially touched by your understanding of what makes Take on Nepal different. Being founded by Som and built on strong community relationships, fair employment, and giving back to Nepal is at the heart of everything we do. Knowing you felt that connection to both the mountains and the people is one of the greatest compliments we could receive.

We are honoured to have been part of your Himalayan journey and absolutely love hearing that you are already dreaming of another adventure this year. We cannot wait to welcome you back to Nepal for your next trek.

Take On Nepal were awesome to travel with. Anil, Bimmaya and the team were excellent guides who were on hand to answer all our silly questions and make the trip a success. Through rain, sleet and snow we continued to Jum Jum, and the elation of making it to ABC is something we struggle to articulate, but will never forget (even doing the Nutbush at 4,130m!). Thanks to all, highly recommended.

I had an incredible experience with Take On Nepal and can’t recommend them highly enough. Susan and Som were fantastic in the lead up. They were super helpful and easy to communicate with. From landing in Kathmandu, everything was seamlessly organised—airport transfers, accommodation, food and flights to Pokhara all ran smoothly. The trek itself was amazing, with stunning trails through villages, forests, farmland, rocky paths, and snow. Anil, Bimmaya and the team were outstanding—knowledgeable, caring, and always looking out for the group. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The trail was bustling and everyone was kind and considerate on the trail. An exceptional team that made the whole experience unforgettable. This was my first organised hike and I highly recommend! I’ve met some amazing humans and now happy to call them my friends.

Thank you Sonya sincerely for sharing your experience with us and this is one of the best reviews we got. Also, the pictures are great, specially the one at the snowy Annapurna Base Camp- looks surreal.

Anil, and Binmaya and the team will be delighted to read this review. We’re so pleased to hear that your first organized hike with us was such an exceptional experience.

Thanks and regards,

The team from take on Nepal were great. Every member of the team genuinely wanted us to be have fun , of course be safe and get the most from the experience. The guides spoke English well enough to provide clear directions and general information about the trek , as well as engage in fun conversation when playing cards at the end of the day. Every person on the trek spoke highly of their experience and the team at Take on Nepal. We discovered they also are part of a local charity that provides education and employment pathways for Nepali boys and girls . They were the first guiding company in Nepal to hire women as guides. I highly recommend to anyone wanting an experience in Nepal.

We had a fantastic experience with the team at Take on Nepal starting with a village visit and then hiking around the Annapurna region. Very accommodating and flexible to change. The most friendly team of guides and porters. We are already looking at booking our next trip.

I went on the Everest Base Camp trek in November. Not only did I have the best time with an amazing group of women, I felt incredibly safe and so well looked after. They also pay and look after their staff properly, which is important.

Our 24 day journey with Take on Nepal team is something we will always remember. From the moment we arrived in Kathmandu we were greeted with genuine warmth and care, Sabin & Minmar helped us settle in & Dinesh helped us organised our on going travel plans during our entire stay. Tsiring continued guiding us through Kathmandu and the beautiful area of Nagarkot, he was kind & caring, & guided with knowledge of the area & a passion for all things Nepal 🙏 Our two-week journey with Sandip exceeded our expectations, he travelled with us every step of the way from Kathmandu to Pokhara, hiking from Grandruk & a visit to Bandipur & Chitwan. As a “mature” couple health & safety was a priority. Right from day 1 Sandip guided with clear communication, thoughtful leadership & flexibility, plans A & B were always ready to go! He had the ability to know what would be best for us with a focus on safety, comfort & our interests. He added depth to our adventure with his insights into Nepal’s culture & passion for the mountains, wildlife & the environment. A special highlight was a visit to Sandips home village in Chitwan meeting his family made it even more special & personal🙏 During our hike we were also supported by Subash our porter, his efforts were amazing & greatly appreciated 🙏 Visiting Batase village with Mindho was truly inspiring. She was caring and fun & welcomed us into the village. This visit gave us an insight into this company’s core reason for being, and the incredible support for the beautiful children in their care🙏 Our entire experience in Nepal far exceeded anything we imagined. Nepal is beautiful, & we loved every moment, but it was the Take on Nepal team who made our journey unforgettable. Their kindness, and dedication made this a bucket list trip of a lifetime. Big shout out to Som & Susan in Cairns who was our first contact with Take on Nepal, & put together our amazing trip. We 100 % recommend Take on Nepal 5 stars are not enough 🙏

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt and detailed review. It truly means the world to us to hear how meaningful your 24-day journey with Take on Nepal was. Your kind words about our team — Sabin, Minmar, Dinesh, Tsiring, Sandip, Subash and Mindho — will be shared with them all. Knowing that their care, knowledge and passion made such a positive impact is incredibly rewarding.

We are especially delighted to hear that the planning and support from Cairns helped set the tone for such a memorable experience. Creating journeys that go beyond travel and truly connect people with Nepal, its culture and communities is at the heart of what we do. Thank you for your trust, your recommendation and for allowing us to be part of what you describe as a trip of a lifetime. We hope Nepal will always hold a special place in your hearts and that we may welcome you back again one day.

I had the absolute joy of trekking with Samjhana and Som through Take on Nepal to Annapurna Base Camp. We did the Annapurna Base Camp Sanctuary trek which included the popular Poon Hill hike as well. It was absolutely stunning. The trails were not overcrowded and the tea houses were a delightful space each night to connect with other trekkers, porters and guides. I traveled alone and from the minute I arrived at the airport Take on Nepal did everything to help me feel immediately comfortable, welcome and taken care of. From arranging transport around Kathmandu for me, to arranging my hotels and food throughout the trek, to arranging my flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, and jeep ride to the start of the trail to getting my trekking permits for me, and helping advise me on things to bring along, all that was left for me was to just be present and enjoy the full adventure. I chose Take on Nepal because of their mission to provide trekking job opportunities to the people living in Batase village and in particular supporting women in that path. It was so special to be a solo female traveler and have Samjhana as a female guide. I was able to learn so much from her and I was so inspired. Som was my porter and brought the brightest, most positive energy at all times. It made such a difference for me to have his help in carrying the weight of my bag - I think it’s a major reason why I made it with my knees and ankles having had prior injuries. I was so proud to complete the trek which was a physical and mental challenge, but was filled with so much fun and beauty along the way. I would recommend training for the trek but with the bright spirits and support of the Take on Nepal team, you will gain a boost of confidence to accomplish more than you thought you could. I was also comforted by how prepared the team was to take care of things should I get sick or need evacuation. I felt safe the entire time. If you’re on the fence or pushing off your next adventure, just book it. This experience is one I will hold dear for the rest of my life, and I will be forever changed from it. Not only do I want to stay in contact with Samjhana and Som, I plan to come back one day.

We are incredibly grateful you chose to trek with Take on Nepal and trusted us with your Annapurna Base Camp adventure. It’s wonderful to hear how supported and cared for you felt from the moment you arrived in Nepal, and that everything behind the scenes allowed you to fully immerse yourself in the experience. Knowing you felt safe, comfortable and free to simply enjoy the journey means everything to us.

Your words about Samjhana and Som are especially touching. Supporting women in guiding and creating meaningful opportunities for the Batase community is at the heart of what we do, and hearing how inspiring it was for you to trek with Samjhana as a solo female traveller truly reinforces our purpose. Thank you for your trust, your recommendation and your openness.

Words cannot express how much of an amazing experience I had trekking to Everest Base Camp with Take on Nepal. Our guides and porters were the kindest, funniest, and most helpful people we could have asked for. They attended to our every need ensured we were supported throughout of entire journey, and made the experience infinitely more enjoyable by getting to know them. The experience itself was one of a kind. The landscape was breathtaking, the companionship forged along the trek was incredible, and the challenge of the journey was empowering. I would highly recommend Take on Nepal as a company, not just because of the quality of the experience but also because of the values they hold and how they look after their staff and the wider community in Nepal. If an ethical experience is what you seek, then look no further.

Thank you so much for your beautiful words — they truly mean more than you know. I’m so happy to hear that your Everest Base Camp trek was such a powerful and memorable experience, and that our guides and porters helped make the journey so special. They really are an incredible group of people, and I know they’ll be so touched to hear how much their care, humour and support meant to you.

Everest Base Camp has a way of leaving a lasting mark, and it’s wonderful to hear how the landscapes, shared moments and personal challenge came together to create something so empowering. On behalf of the entire Take on Nepal team, thank you for recognising our values and our commitment to looking after our staff and community. It was a privilege to be part of your journey, and I hope Nepal stays close to your heart always.

Thank you to the whole team of Take on Nepal. From the first contact and making inquiries to the last day of my visit to Nepal the support and dealings with Takes on Nepal has been outstanding. I have been trekking Ghokyo lakes, Ghokyo RI, Chola pass and EBC and the support and guidance from our guide Ambir and porter Enis has been wonderful. Over the 2 1/2 weeks of trekking we formed this beautiful bond and friendship and had so many laughs and so much joy. Thank you for your support to get me to the top of Chola pass. It was incredibly challenging. I am sure our porter Enis would have pushed, pulled or carried me up there if there was any need to do so. He was way ahead of us, dropped off our luggage at the top of chola pass and returned to assist and be on my side in case I needed help. I also used Take on Nepal to book Chitwan National Park incl. their guide. Everything from pick up, travel arrangements, guidance and tours was always off the highest standard and care. Take on Nepal is much more than a trekking company and is incredibly committed to charity work in that little village Batase. They raise money for schooling and run a hostel for school children I visited for two nights. That was a very humble and overwhelming experience. The company provides employment ( trekking guides, office work etc) for those children (male and female) after they finished year 10 so they can continue to go to university and fund their studies. The visit to Batase village was a perfect finish of my 5 week holiday in Nepal and the memories will be with me forever. Thank you.

We are thankful we booked our trek through Take On Nepal as unpredictable weather changed our itinerary. Dinesh suggested changes so we could make the best use of our time & trek in another area. I know behind the scenes he would have worked hard to change all the bookings & flights but it was all done with ease & a smile 🙏🏼 Our fantastic guide, Sanu, absolutely spoilt us & our Poon Hill Trek was spectacular & culturally uplifting. As an older couple we felt safe & well supported. Our next trek was to Gokyo Lakes with Sanu as our guide & Hemont as our porter. What a fantastic experience - the scenery each day was stunning with majestic mountains, rivers, waterfalls, yak & donkey trains & the generous & warm spirit of the Nepalese people. We are very grateful for the assistance & care shown to us as we completed our 13 day trek without incident. Sanu & Hemont were a professional team & our trek was so enjoyable because of their skills & caring nature 🙏🏼 Our adventure continued with 3 nights/2 days on Chitwan NP with Take on Nepal. Our nature guides were very knowledgeable and we had wonderful walking and jeep safaris with Sandip and Upakar. Take on Nepal is like travelling with family. The team is dedicated to ensuring the trip runs smoothly & their caring attitude runs through the whole company. Much gratitude to the Kathmandu organisers, Dinesh and Sabin for helping to make our dreams become a reality 🙏🏼

Take on Nepal is an excellent choice for trekking in Nepal. You can be confident their guides and porters are treated well and paid fairly. They are absolute professionals in all they do, always checking you are happy and safe. Nothing is to much for them to do to help.or support you on your journey. I had the absolute privilege of being guided by Anil, Samjhana and Bimmaya on my trek to EBC, and without any exaggeration I can say I would happily trust them with my life. Take on Nepal cares about their team and genuinely loves sharing the Everest region with trekkers. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Trek 2025 I recently travelled with Take on Nepal, and the experience was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Their communication was excellent while in Nepal. We would ask for someone to take us shopping and they were there making sure everything was going smoothly. The trek itself was amazing. Naba and Ambier, our guide and porter, were wonderful full of fun, laughter, and support. Unfortunately, I became unwell during the trek, but they acted quickly and made sure I received the help I needed. I eventually had to take a helicopter back to Kathmandu, which came with a few unexpected challenges. I ended up spending a night in Lukla, where another guide from take on nepal took me under their wing and ensured I was fully cared for. Once I reached the hospital in Kathmandu, Sabin from Take on Nepal visited me three times, which meant a lot during such a stressful time. The love, support, and care I received throughout the entire journey were outstanding. I cannot fault a single thing, Take on Nepal was there for me when I needed them the most. I’m incredibly grateful for their professionalism, kindness, and dedication. Highly recommend them to anyone considering trekking in Nepal. I will be back to trek again and to visit the beautiful people I met again. Take on nepals values for all their workers are fantastic and are call cared for. Thank you Som and Susan for your beautiful company. I will be back.
