My husband and I met with Marco Schiavo to review our current Living Will and Family Trust. Marco was amazing. After our first meeting (we had 3), my husband and I found out that our current Living Will and Family Trust was bare minimum. Marco asked questions that we never thought of having to be in a Trust. We cannot say enough good things about Marco. He made the complex process of setting up our family trust and living will incredibly straightforward and stress-free. Marco was very thorough, patient with our questions, and ensured all our assets were properly protected. We finally have peace of mind that our our daughter and grandchildren are taken care of. I would highly recommend Simmons & Schiavo, especially Marco Schiavo.

I am currently searching for a firm to assist me with creating a living trust. I came across Simmons & Schiavo and with their excellent reviews on two different sites, I decided to give them a try and hear about their services and costs. My experience with them was the opposite of the reviews. I reached out to them on their website to start the initial discussion and they responded back stating that their process was set up an appointment either in person or on zoom for us out of state people for a fee. I confirmed my location as being out of state and asked for a zoom meeting, and they agreed with their lead attorney. As soon as payment was made, I heard back from a different associate stating that since I was not living in Massachusetts, the appointment was not going to be with their lead attorney but a different one and from this point, the verbal discussions and emails took a sour tone. At no time prior to the appointment was a refund ever discussed or offered by them but instead the associate decided to present me with an attitude and blamed the mistake on the other associate being new. Mistakes happen all the time but when making an impression on a customer and the sentiment is to blame the customer, blame each other, take no responsibility or accountability for the mistake, it is next to impossible for me to develop trust that they will be professional in their work. I will not be hiring them for helping me create a living trust due to my recent experience with their staff.

Working with Attorney Elizabeth Facey was both a genuine pleasure and an immense relief. She skillfully helped me resolve three crucial matters concerning my father’s irrevocable trust (IRT) estate and the final distribution of assets: • She clarified the “step-up-in-basis” language in the IRT and advised informing beneficiary’s brokers and tax preparers, so they would not pay excessive capital gains taxes. • She emphasized the importance of keeping purchase receipts, date-of-death valuations, and all sales records for my father’s precious metals collection readily available. • She prepared and distributed “Beneficiary Acknowledgement” letters for signature by all beneficiaries, ensuring compliance as a prerequisite for final distributions.

Needed to update our Estate Plan which needed some changing. Contacted Simmons & Schiavo based on reviews I read on social media. We were not disappointed! On our first meeting with Marco Schiavo he explained the various plans and their details. We decided to proceed and were very satisfied with the depth, knowledge and professionalism of this office. I finally feel like a grown-up. Thanks to Marco and his law firm, my husband and I are in the final steps of our estate planning. Marco is very knowleadgeable and very tacttful. We had to talk about difficult topics and he made my husband and I feel very comfortable.
