We had such a wonderful experience at Square Peg Vineyard! The owner personally gave us a tour and took us out into the vines, where he showed us the different grapes and explained when each variety would be ripe. It was such a unique experience getting to see the vineyard right on his property.
He was incredibly personable and welcoming, and went above and beyond to make our visit special. He even picked apples from his own tree for my 7-year-old son to try and gave him a taste of the Welch’s juice grapes, which my son absolutely loved!
And the wine—not one of the six wines I tasted was a wine I didn’t like! I’m definitely not a Chardonnay person, but even the Chardonnay surprised me and I really enjoyed it. And the Zinfandel was another favorite!
What I also really appreciated was that there was absolutely no pressure to join a wine club or membership. He was so genuine and focused on making sure we enjoyed the experience rather than trying to sell us anything.
Great place, great wine, amazing ambience, and truly amazing company. This is exactly the kind of personal, authentic wine-country experience that makes a visit memorable. We absolutely loved it and would highly recommend Square Peg Vineyard!

Fantastic wine tasting with Alex today, highly recommended to anyone looking for a real local experience on a gorgeous property. Perfect for people who enjoy delicious wine but don’t want to deal with pretension or outrageous prices. Can’t wait to come back again soon.
Exceptional wines and beautiful art
No matter what your itinerary, this will be the highlight. The combination of world-class wines, breathtaking art, and captivating sculptures created a remarkable experience. I've known Brad for many years and they just don't come any better. His wife, Alanna Roth, is an incredibly talented artist and sculptor. This is a memory you will be glad you made.

Best art and amazing wine... Russian River Pinot Noir is amazing, as are the Zin and Chardonnay! We walked into the tasting room with Brad, the owner, and I gasped when I looked around. I asked Brad how he curated such intriguing and diverse art.... he answered 'this is all my wife's work!' Needless to say, we bought 2 Alanna Roth art pieces AND became fanatical about every type of wine they make. Try everything, and you'll love them, too! ❤️
What a fantastic experience we had at Square Peg!! From the moment we pulled up we could tell it was a special place! We strolled around the grounds, took in the vines and orange trees and rolling hills, then headed in to the tasting room. Surrounded by gorgeous sculptures and vivid paintings, we tasted some great wines and learned a bit about the grapes and the wine industry. Such a wonderful experience -- we will definitely be heading back for more!
We had a such a fun time with a tasting with Alex! Really enjoyed the variety of wines as well as learning more about the wine business in Sonoma.
Beautiful tasting room - we will definitely be back!
Nice
Square Peg Winery – A Consistent Gem for Pinot Noir and More
Located practically in our own backyard, Square Peg Winery has been a favorite destination for years. They’ve consistently been a source of some of the finest Pinot Noir in Northern California, but it’s worth noting that their Chardonnay and especially their Zinfandel remain underrated treasures—the latter perhaps their best-kept secret.
The tasting room is a visual delight, overlooking vineyards that are notable for being never irrigated. The space is decorated with the owner’s own artwork—sculptures and paintings—which add a creative, personal touch to the atmosphere.
All of this serves as a beautiful backdrop to the winery’s main attraction: the wine itself. Whether savoring their celebrated Pinot Noir or discovering the complexity of their lesser-known varietals, the experience is both satisfying and memorable.
As ordinary consumers, we are not paid or compensated in any way for this review. Square Peg continues to stand out as a place of quality, character, and consistent excellence.
Great experience for us. We were in the area mid week and trying to find a winery to check out and happened to get lucky finding Alex and Square Peg. We had a very relaxed and educational tasting, got to see the vineyard and much more. Really appreciate the experience and knowledge Alex, thank you to you and your farm!
My wife and I visited Square Peg Winery on May 19, 2025; it was easily one of the highlights of our time in wine country. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the warm hospitality, stunning surroundings, including the art, and the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that defines this hidden gem.
We are big fans of the Zinfandels. They are bold yet balanced, rich in character, and beautifully expressive of the estate’s unique terroir, especially ”Big Larry.”
The tasting itself was intimate, thoughtfully guided, and just a lot of fun with Alex. The winery is perched in a picture-perfect setting, with peaceful vineyard views and a sense of calm that makes you want to linger a little longer.
We left with several bottles of our favorite Zinfandels, and we are already looking forward to our next visit. Square Peg isn’t just a winery — it’s a place to slow down, connect, and savor some truly exceptional wine.
If you’re a fan of Zinfandel, do not miss this spot. Highly, highly recommended.
This is an excellent winery. If you are looking for a locals secret gem this is definitely it! You can’t go wrong…the Rose’ , Char, Pinot, Zin, Meritage and fun cans of sparkling are all delicious.
Such a beautiful winery and family-owned! They also have some amazing artwork!
Great wine, great place and location and great personality of the owner. The showcased art is also very beautiful.
Brad was an absolute gem! He was very informative, educating us on every wine and grape. He also takes a mean winery pic! What a great experience.
Alex was incredible, funny, knowledgeable and generous. Their wines were unique and complex and the location was stunning. Alex knew so much about the region and the vines and shared so very special bottles with us. We felt deeply grateful for the hospitality.
Alex is awesome and wine the best. A must see winery.
