A gem.
Nice atmosphere, lovely garden, good range of beers on tap, friendly staff, lovely tasting Thia food.
I feel the pub had a turbulent time since being The Black Horse and going through different ownership. On this visit it's obvious they've got the formula right with the decor, food and drinks making it inviting. My wife and I will be back soon.
The pub hosts a number of events that I've seen are popular

This is a great place for get togethers. 11 of us were here for a birthday celebration , lovely and spacious, no loud music , we all agreed that the food was delicious, hot, and all brought out at the same time. Nice staff. I ate chicken Balinese-chicken so tender , my daughters dish (fried rice mains) was served in a whole half pineapple, impressive! The younger children were able to go out into the enclosed garden after our meal Highly recommend the Spice Merchant !

Excellent Thai food, one of the best Thai Green Curry’s I have eaten. And the Duck spring rolls were light and crispy. Great place to eat.

Food poor
I’ve been before and enjoyed the food. Maybe Monday night is the chef’s day off, whatever the reason, the food was poor and tasted microwaved. Mixed starter chicken satay was cold. Battered prawns in main dish were soggy and inedible, and the Singapore noodle stir fry was also soggy, and overcooked. Very disappointing. Not sure if I’ll try again, probably not.

The food was outstanding along with the front of house, who were very welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. The food was delicious, and all plates were returned empty. There is live sport available in the bar area. The garden has a lovely play area for youngsters to enjoy. Plenty of parking and disabled access is easy, and a level walk to the bar or undercover outside with patio heaters. In my humble opinion, go give it a go I will definitely be returning.

Authentic Thai food. Great choice on the menu.
Food very good, and accompanied by great service.
Been in person a few times, and had takeaway a number of occasions.
Highly recommended.

The food is lovely, sadly let down by their delivery service. Waited an unacceptable amount of time for our delivery but the worst part is they just don’t answer the phone. If you can’t cope with deliveries, don’t offer them. You are really letting yourselves down.

Great food, service and atmosphere in a great location. First time for a while at the spice merchant. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Service was great. Could not fault it. Easily my go to now for Thai food.
