Special Strong is incredible not only its a perfect fit for our son with Down Syndrome by working out the right muscles but with a coach that know how to handle a kid with special needs! It bring families together and social activity for our kids!! They are great!!

Our son is 29 years old, non verbal autistic. Alex was in the Special Strong program for about 2 years. Overall, I think the weekly exercise program was positive for him. The goal was not strength training. It was more for coordination, for development of a relationship and to learn behavior in a changing environment. His trainer was very aware of Alex’s mood, his reaction to instructions, and his overall behavior, and put a lot of thought into the exercises for the day. He was careful to provide clear instruction, to make minor changes to the exercise regimen, and to monitor Alex’s reaction to each exercise. On a few occasions, Alex reacted negatively, and his trainer used breathing techniques to try to calm him down and show appropriate behavior in dealing with the situation. The goals we tried to achieve were much more important than any strength benefit Alex may have gotten out of the exercise. I recommend this program to others with special needs.

Jeff is amazing! He’s the most caring trainer who ever helped me. He thinks outside the box of ways to help me improve and gives me hope that I can get better. I’ve gone to regular PT for years and it is so narrowly focused that I didn’t really see much improvement. The Special Strong concept of helping people with disabilities and whole body approach is excellent! I’m so happy with the service that I’m getting.

Mike Lutey understand the special needs health journey and is provide meaningful cardio and strength development for my daughter Arabella. Patience and understanding of the needs of individuals with physical and mental limitations. We have attended lots of adaptive recreation but Special Strong is the first place that is making sure the exercise has a meaningful impact on our personal fitness.

My brother Martin has recently started training with Special Strong Folsom. The trainers that he has worked with have all been amazing, patient & great. The environment at the gym is inspiring. Martin has handed out a couple fist bumps to some of the people around the gym. I've been wanting to get Martin into the gym, but I was looking for the right fit. I'm so grateful we seen Matt and Tracy at Martin's Special Olympics basketball tournament. Special Strong had a booth set up. Funny thing is we use to watch Matt and Tracy's son play college baseball for a team from our home town called the Lincoln Potters, so we new them. That made it easier and more encouraging for Martin to want to sign up for training. Thank you Special Strong for what your doing for my brother Martin and all these individuals with special needs.

Regional centers Hi do I have to be with a regional center to get in? I'm autistic and in a wheelchair but I'm high functioning autism too much for regional inland center. They will not reassess me. Tried three times. They said no. How do I get this for myself? Do you use Medicare or Medi-Cal or iehp or Kaiser insurance or anything? I cannot walk on my own, fall risk and I have seizures. Can you still help me?

My daughter started her fitness journey 2 years ago with the Special Strong West North Dallas. We wanted her to improve her overall strength and stamina, plus slim down during the process. Happy to report she has dropped a size in clothing and can easily walk 3-4 miles. Her reports from her instructor (Keaton) indicate progress in strength training (increased weight lifting)improved box jumping and balance. She is challenged to do hard things by a dedicated trainer and with routine and repetition we have seen these improvements. Also, she does not like to miss a class!
