I will start this review by sharing that my family and i had to come back here for a second cream tea in two days. I was brought up in the USA and often here about smaller portion sizes in the UK. This cream tea was an ode to the opposite. If you would like to experience what it is to wonder if there is enough scone for your clotted cream (off the charts quality and flavor by the way), then please give this quiet, lovely garden cream tea a try! These are the scones by which i will judge all future treats

I've not awarded a maximum Triple Yum (YYY) score for some time. today, a group of six of us had cream teas at the Southern Cross. without doubt, the very best cream tea I have had....and believe me I've had my fair share of this Devonshire delight in my time. the scones were fresh and oven warmed. the clotted cream was off the charts. tea was great. blackcurrant jam yummy. the owners are wonderful. the setting lovely too. wow. i so highly recommend Southern Cross!

Best Cream Teas in Devon. Lashings of clotted cream, scones right out t’oven, absolutely perfect and not expensive either. Car park turn in is snug (in our camper) but indoor and outdoor seating in lovely gardens, card payment accepted. Been many times and recommend to everyone

A lovely stop: small, quiet (despite being by the road), comfortable and hospitable. A good overnight stay with a lovely breakfast to send us on our way.

We stopped here a few days ago for an impromptu cream tea afternoon and it was delicious! Scones were warm and fresh and tea was spot on. We had the place to ourselves and it was very low key and relaxing. We will definitely be coming back

For an authentic Devonshire Cream tea experience, this is the place. The gardens are quintessentially English. The scones are great and there's a wide choice of teas to accompany the mountain of Devon's finest clotted cream and jam.

Went for a cream tea with family a week ago, service was very good. Food was really good quality, scones cooked to order, plenty of jam and cream. Would highly recommend.

Southern Cross Guest House and Tea Rooms.
Visited here with my Sister and Brother-in-Law for a Cream Tea sat in the garden. The service was really good and the Cream Teas are really good plenty of cream and jam. Small carpark and the exit road is a bit narrow but this tea room is definitely worth a visit
