My Husbands Experience
My husband will do everything he can to avoid going to the dentist, but he finally went to SmileWorks Dental Clinic in Doreen. He was so impressed with Dr Valeriia for her patience, expertise, and her ability to explain in a caring, understanding manner. She certainly turned a stressful situation into a positive experience and believe it or not, he is looking forward to going back to have more work done.
I also want to give a huge thankyou to Amanda and Paris. They were so incredibly helpful in arranging a suitable appointment time and also, their understanding in the urgency of my husband's situation. My husband was' singing their praise's' all the way home. I am so grateful, and I thank each of you for doing an outstanding job. Look forward to seeing you all again soon.
I will try a ensure my hubby won't start telling silly jokes again.

My mum visited SmileWorks Dental Doreen initially because one of her teeth needed to be removed (to be honest we don’t know if it actually needed to be removed or could’ve been fixed by any other way). I give the two stars only because there were no issues with this procedure. However, after a checkup, my mum was told that many of her teeth are in a bad condition; and after each visit, she was made aware of a new issue with her teeth/gum.
She was told that she may need to spend around $6000-$7000 to fix these issues (apart from the implant cost for that one tooth that was removed).
My mum was advised that there was a major issue with her labial frenum (both upper and lower), which needed to be surgically corrected. This was very strange to hear, as both upper and lower labial frenum look normal and no dentist has even mentioned this (my mum is 50 years old and even if there is an issue, this is not going to fix the alignment of her teeth anymore).
We thought to get a second opinion, and my mum went to two different dentists for a checkup to see if her teeth really have these issues. Both of the dentists told her that her teeth look fine and she doesn’t need to do anything other than the implant which is recommended. They told her that the structure of her teeth are actually pretty good and she didn’t even need the crown or the filling at all.
The dentists were shocked when they heard about the labial frenum correction, especially at her age. They mentioned that although this procedure can help with the correction of the teeth alignment, it doesn’t do much at her age, and this is not something that she has to get done.
I understand that the doctor at SmileWorks may have mentioned this issue to get my mum’s teeth more aligned over time, but my mum was told about this issue as if it’s an emergency, and she was even told that she needs to get this done as soon as possible!!
And when she told that the labial frenum correction, the crown she said she needed as well as the fillings would be too expensive for her, she was pushed and was offered to go on a payment plan.
It turns out that she didn’t need to do any of these, and she completed her checkup and will get the implant done at another clinic.
I’m writing this review for everyone to be aware and not trust everything they are told by this clinic. Regarding the doctors, I still think they are experienced, but there was a noticeable push toward unnecessary and costly procedures.
It appeared the clinic prioritised revenue over patient needs.

Emergency Visit & Diagnosis
Unfortunately the tooth your Mum attended an emergency appointment for was not restorable due to an existing crack and infection - extraction is a last resort, and there really was no viable alternative. Taking time to perform the extraction gently and atraumatically to preserve bone, I also ensured the socket was fully free of infection..
Findings During Procedure
During the extraction I noticed decay on a posterior tooth and informed your mum, suggesting that during her complimentary post-extraction review (no charge to patient), we could carry out a comprehensive examination.
Examination Findings (7-Day Review)
At the review appointment, photographs and X-rays were taken and I identified a specific concern regarding the labial frenulum - not to do with the alignment of the teeth, which it doesn’t influence - rather that it can displace soft tissue and contribute to gum recession, creating unpleasant and unnecessary consequences as we age. I then recommended a consultation with a specialist or dentist with an interest in orthodontics to help her decide whether she wanted orthodontic treatment and whether it should be done prior to placing an implant because implants do not move. In addition, I identified a cracked lower molar with a large existing restoration, I reassured your mum that if she proceeds with orthodontics, nothing needs to be done at this stage, as the aligners will help protect the tooth.
Again, I’m sorry to learn that your Mum felt pressured - my intention, at all times, is to provide patients with ethical care, accurate information, options and guidance so they can make informed decisions, based on best practice.

Today was my first appointment at SmileWorks Doreen and it was very pleasant. All the staff were very friendly and accomodating. I was originally only booked for a dental check up due to limited appointments available for a clean however, Dr Sahand was extremely generous with his time and offered to complete my clean for me.

I’ve been seeing Dr Val for just over a year now and couldn’t recommend her enough, anytime I talk to family and friends about my experience in getting dental implants, I always speak so highly of her. You can feel that she cares about the work she does, wants the best for her patients, her attention to detail is impeccable and her kindness is amazing!!

My daughter had her braces done under the care of Dr Shammi, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Her teeth look fantastic now! I took my daughter in for a filling last week and was so impressed with the care we received. Our dentist Palak and her nurse Tanya were absolutely amazing – they were kind, patient, and made the whole experience so comfortable. My daughter felt calm and well looked after the entire time, and the treatment itself was done with such skill and gentleness.
