Wow! I'm not sure where to begin. I bookmarked Shop with Val on my computer about eight months ago. I just could not decide whether hiring a stylist was something I wanted to do. I finally decided to contact her. I am so glad I did! Valerie was very quick to respond to my contact form. We set up a time to talk on the phone. She was prompt with her call and chatted about her services and what I could expect from her. She sent me forms to fill out so she could learn a little bit more about me, my wardrobe and my needs. I settled on the package I would like; and we set up my first appointment, the closet cleanse. OMG! What an amazing 3 hours that was! Valerie was so friendly and so easy to talk to and work alongside. Through trying on lots of my clothes she was able to teach me how certain styles did not flatter my figure and which styles looked great on my frame. She took extensive notes about what I needed to fill in the gaps of my wardrobe as we purged and organized my closet. We have had two shopping trips that have been incredible. I highly recommend using Valerie if you're ever in need for a closet update. I had a lot of emotional attachment to my clothes, but she helped me to clean out my closet and find new clothes for FW and SS. I love going into my closet now; it's so nicely organized and has everything I need. What I love is that she really listened to my feedback, so the second shopping trip was super productive. She even found things that I would never have had thought to try, and I'm really embracing this new colorful side. Valerie will never make you feel embarrassed about your choices and in fact is very reassuring without being superfluous. Added plus is that she will help you to resell any clothes you don't want and tell you which ones need tailoring.

I've been shopping with Val since losing about 80 lbs roughly 7 years ago. She helps me find pieces I love and, every time, suggests great pieces I wouldn't have selected on my own. Most recently, we shopped together virtually to find formal dresses I needed for several different weddings. The virtual experience was a bit more work for me than standing in a fitting room and having her bring me clothes and sizes (I had to handle shipping all the returns, exchanges, etc., but Val was persistent and kept sending me links to different dresses, shoes and accessories until we settled on a few that we both loved. I haven't worn them all yet, but have gotten great compliments on those I have, and feel great in them!

I developed shopping "paralysis" about 7 years ago, when I lost 80 lbs and hit middle age at pretty much the same time. For the first time in years, clothes fit, but I didn't know what my "style" was or what was appropriate (just because a dress fits doesn't always mean you should wear it). Shopping with Val has been a huge help...she encourages me to try pieces I wouldn't necessarily choose myself, and listens to my concerns and opinions when making recommendations. Every time I think I'm ready to "go it alone," I walk into a store, look around, and think "I need Val." That's when I know it's time for my next appointment!

I've been shopping with Val since losing about 80 lbs roughly 7 years ago. I suddenly found myself with "shopping paralysis." Clothes finally fit, but I didn't know what I liked, what looked good, or what was appropriate. Val helps me find pieces I love that work for me and, every time, suggests great pieces I wouldn't have selected on my own. She is willing to work within any budget, and listens to my likes and dislikes. I have learned so much since working with her...but even still, any time I shop without her, I think "what would Val say about this?" Highly recommend.
I recently hired Shop with Val to help me prepare for a new job that required a work wardrobe overhaul. Val was amazing in every way. She clearly has impeccable taste in fashion, but also upholds the highest standard of professionalism, patience, and kindness throughout her process. She expertly blends her clients' wants and needs with her own wealth of knowledge.
I decided to start with the closet consultation service so Val could help me take stock of what I needed most in the work department. As soon as she stepped into my apartment, Val was nothing but kind, sensitive, and professional. She never made me feel the least bit shamed about my closet (which could easily be shamed!) and she created a comprehensive list of items to prepare us for the shopping trip to come.
Then came the big shopping day. It was by far the best shopping experience I have ever had! Val took care of all the no-fun parts like swapping sizes and searching through racks. When I walked into the dressing room at the start of our session, she had already prepared a huge selection for me to choose from. All I had to do was try on! This made the quality of the experience so much more enjoyable and efficient. By the end, I came away with 40+ new items! 6 weeks later, I still have new clothes to wear to the office and the joy over my new wardrobe has not worn off. I hired Valerie to help me shop and create looks for my honeymoon. I wanted pieces that felt extra special but were also practical and didn’t break the bank.
After filling out the questionnaire she sent she offered lots of great suggestions virtually and I was really impressed. Once we finalized my orders she helped create beautiful looks for my trip.
