I so loved the Japan sketching tour and can’t thank Alan enough as he is a wonderful host, teacher and talented artist. We sketched and painted many and varied views throughout the tour and he demonstrated his many and varied techniques. His gentle guiding approach began with taking time to select the view to sketch and deciding the most appropriate techniques to best to capture it. This set the scene to ensure that we were all able to begin and sketch more confidently in the relaxed environment he created. I have also appreciated and benefitted from having access to online sessions prior and post the trip, as it was good to become familiar with his approaches and to have them reinforced again once back home. I know I can Seethelines more clearly and will continue to capture the shadows in my work. I have learnt so much from Alan by participating in this tour and will continue to highly recommend others to travel and sketch with Alan. The trip with Alán and everybody in the group was one of the most memorable of my life. The trip itself, the locations, vistas, and cities were incredible, but the group experience was truly fantastic. I loved talking to everybody, I looking around, talking about art, and drawing/watercoloring with everybody else. It was a treat.

Went on the Japan tour for the sketching but came back with so much more. The tour was rich in culture and adventure. Alán is an incredible sensei who encourages learning and mutual respect not only from him, but from within the group. A lovely camaraderie developed despite being from all different walks of life and skill levels.

The Japan travel sketch tour with Alan Ramiro through Best in Travel; is by far one of the best trips I’ve been. All my experiences reaffirm why I choose to grow my sketch experience with Alan. His instructions are dynamic; engaging and always makes me discover what is possible through his creative process and techniques. Japan provided the platform for inspiration; what with the landscape of shrines; urban scenes; open spaces like matcha fields and rivers. The itinerary of the trip provided energetic opportunities to experience and sketch the crowd; a palace; a tea ceremony; a tour of the matcha farm; etc. - all of these providing a lifetime of memories with fellow creatives whose personalities blended so well. One thing to note is Alan’s calm demeanor and how he made sure to establish a pace thats comfortable for everyone. He is undoubtedly super talented and generous on sharing his talent with others. I signed up and am looking forward to two additional travel sketch tours in my immediate future with SeetheLines. I have no doubt it will continue to be such lovely adventures.

This sketching retreat has truly been one of the most beautiful experiences of my life, and I am so glad I chose to take part in it. I loved spending hours each day drawing alongside others who share the same passion. I really appreciate Alan’s urban sketching approach, and one of my main reasons for joining this trip was the opportunity to meet him in person and attend his classes after already learning so much from his online courses. Drawing is an activity that pairs wonderfully with travel. It allows me to fully immerse myself in the places I visit and to preserve rich, sensory memories, as I spend several hours capturing on paper what I see and feel. This group travel experience with fellow sketchers helped me reconnect with an artistic practice that I hope to continue incorporating into my daily life. I also hope to join one of Alan’s organized trips again in the future.

The North Moroccan sketch retreat with Alán was a phenomenal experience; we chased shadows every day with Alán, searching for the perfect spot to settle in for our sketch. Covered an unbelievable five beautiful and unique cities in ten days. It was a deep immersion, not just in urban sketching techniques but also into the culture, history, cuisine, and people of Morocco, thanks to the wonderful local guide who accompanied us and took care of our every need through the entire trip. Chefchaouen had been on my bucket list for many years, and it was even more beautiful than I imagined. This retreat had us interacting with art, artists and artistry every day, all day. It felt like an artist-in-residency programme! Alán peppered his workshops with lots of useful sketch tips; his architectural background was evident in his teaching of perspectives - he was determined to help us get it right! Everyone - Alán and participants - spent all day together, sketching, eating, sketching again, sharing words of wisdom, life experiences and affirmations. The bonding across the group was unreal. The magic of this retreat is truly indescribable 💕💕 So grateful to Alán for putting together a mindblowing experience for all of us!

The sketching trip with Alan in Morocco was a dream come true. I have been wanting to go on a trip where all I do is just sketch and absorb the culture, energy around. And I could just do that, the sessions were so immersive and it was so delightful to have the company of like minded fellow sketchers. The trip was also very well managed wrt logistics, where we eat, sleep and repeat! Sketching spots thoughtfully chosen. I would give this experience a 11/10 and fully recommend somebody who is looking for a fun immersive sketching experience.

My second trip Wow! ...Again! I am an alumni and this is my second travel sketching tour with Alan. My previous trip was Morocco and this time we explored Portugal. From lisbon to porto. Each place had its character, color and sketch-worthy charm. I was surrounded by like minded artist from around the world with such positive good vibes. This trip felt like a real turning point in my urban watercolor journey. I pushed myself more with an open mind, tried new techniques and had a few "aha" moments that changed how I see and sketch. It wasn't just about art- it was about connection, growth and soaking in the beauty of every crooked alley and sunlit plaza. The accommodations, private group transportation, museums, local city tours were all in perfect flow thanks to Alan and Lukes excellent trip itinerary.

I’m so glad I took the chance to sign up for the Portugal sketching retreat with SeeTheLines. It was a truly unforgettable experience with unforgettable people! The trip was very well organized and included a great mix of guided tours, site seeing, sketching workshops, and free time for exploring. As a beginner, I found Alán’s live demonstrations very helpful. He makes everyone feel welcome and really inspired me to fall in love with travel sketching. One of the best parts of the trip was connecting to an amazing community of likeminded people along the way. Alán’s retreats will leave you with a full sketchbook and a full heart – don’t hesitate to sign up!

Alan and his local guide, Luke, put together such an amazing trip. It wasn’t just about the workshops — we also got to explore so many different cities and places, which made the whole experience all the more special. I really feel like I gained confidence in my sketching and watercoloring throughout the week, and could actually see myself improving thanks to Alan’s guidance. One of my favorite parts was getting to chat with others in the group about their process and how they approach their own sketches — it was so inspiring to learn from everyone.

This adventure was not only great fun but full of discovery. Alan provides wonderful tutorials for the group, sitting on our stools in some odd spot, totally absorbed in what we were doing. Mixed with exploring the environment, the cities the countryside, and, a real bonus, linking with other group members. The WhatsApp group gave us a great opportunity to build some connections before the retreat, and keep them going afterwards. I’m thinking about which retreat I might be able to join next!

The urban sketching workshop in Portugal was a great mix of time spent sketching, good instruction, as well as exploring and experiencing wonderful towns in Portugal. Well organized with great accommodations and side trips, like sailing on the Tagus river in Lisbon. Had a great time with a fun group!

I just got back from the Portugal Sketching Retreat and WOW — what an incredible experience! We explored beautiful locations between Lisbon and Porto, sketching every day in different settings. There were also some amazing extras, like a sunset sailing trip. Sketching on location with Alán was a valuable learning experience. He shared his process openly, demonstrating different techniques that we put immediately into practice. I was amazed by how much I grew over the nine days — both in my sketches and my confidence. Doing all this alongside a group of artists from around the world made it even more special. We connected instantly and shared many great moments. I can’t recommend See The Lines Sketching Trips (and the online classes!) enough — already counting the days until the next one!

Wonderful collaboration with an exceptional team We recently had the privilege to host an event organized by See the Lines at Maximilian Hotel in Prague. Alan and David were fantastic from the very beginning; we felt that they treated this trip with extra special care, wanted to be 1000% sure that their guests will have the best possible experience during the workshop. It is truly lovely to welcome guests, who bring a positive vibe and energy to our property - we would love to have them returning to us on a regular basis! I attended the five-day workshop in Prague with Alán and David. It was a perfect combination of architect-sketching and watercolor painting. Since one and a half year I take perspective lessons with Alán and I also sketch in USK-groups in my country and have attended workshops at USK-symposiums. Both have a structured way of teaching and we learned to see the subject with their eyes and had sketching and painting demos in beautiful locations. The group was great and was very motivated. There was a good energy to connect, learn, be in the flow and enjoy what we were doing with kind, mindful and great teachers. I enjoyed the company of the teachers and the group very much and I'd recommend it further even when you are a beginner. I had a great time with everybody and the city has endless nice spots to draw in your sketchbook. The flow and good energy of these five days keeps me motivated back home.
