Before starting ScoliCare treatment January 2026, I had shooting pain from my lower back into my hip, sometimes shooting down my leg, and a significant lower lumbar curve. Starting ScoliBalance therapy and now wearing my ScoliCare Brace has lessened my curve some already.. and I have NO PAIN in my hip! My shoulder "hunch" curve is also less. Many thanks for Dr. Gubbels, Danielle, and the Denver ScoliCare team for improving my daily life! Only 2 months in, and I feel so much better!
My granddaughter has been going to Scolicare Denver. She wears a Scolibrace and is doing the Scolibalance program. We have seen her curves improve. She was in a brace from the Children's Hospital at the beginning of her treatment. That brace was less comfortable and could not improve her condition, only possibly stopping it from getting worse. We were happy to find Scolicare. Of course no one WANTS to wear a brace, but it is better than her first one. She also sees her spine changing for the better in the exrays. Doctor a Chris is very thorough and knowledgeable. My Granddaughter especially loves Danielle, her Scolibalance therapist. Hope this post helps some people that are looking for scoliosis treatment options.

Everyone at ScoliCare Denver is wonderful! We were referred to Dr. Gubbels by our another healthcare professional and from the first call to his office, we were treated kindly and listened to. Dr. Gubbels spent time with us to understand our daughter's condition and worked with his team of resources to engineer the proper brace. Dr. Gubbels also networked with our network of doctors to ensure the most successful treatment. We have had many scoli balance sessions with Danielle and she is great as well- very friendly and encouraging. I agree with Chris Conger. I found the staff to be professional and respectful. Dr Chris not so much. There are so many options for scoliosis care in the Denver area. For those of us just looking for some pain relief and or better mobility and wanting to be treated with respect and caring, this perhaps is not the clinic for you.

I highly recommend this ScoliCare Clinic.
It is the ONLY fully equipped Scolibrace provider in the entire Denver area.
Not only does Dr. Chris Gubbels provide careful and professional exams and advice, he uses the 3D imaging to create a custom Scolibrace that truly fits perfectly! I am 69 years old with severe scoliosis. I was diagnosed as an adolescent and wore the Milwaukee brace in high school. I was told I wouldn’t progress after having one 33 degree curve at twenty one years old. But I did progress. And at 42 years old, I not only had significant pain, I had a 35 degree thoracic and 45 degree lumbar curve which eventually worsened to 54 degree thoracic and 69 degree lumbar curve at 53 years old. So much pain!! So I was desperately searching for a solution. Even the orthopedic surgeon (Dr. Vikas Patel) recommended surgery only as a last resort as I would have to have my entire spine fused. And at 64 years old, very risky.
I had tried the Copes brace, the SpineCor brace, a version of the Rigo-Cheneau brace along with years of Schroth Therapy.
I was so ready to totally give up! I still endured so much chronic pain and I wasn’t willing to take any narcotics or pain meds of any sort because of all the bad side effects.
I am always looking for new treatments and I came across the Scolibrace. I was fitted at a different clinic in the area but was not happy with the therapy I was receiving there. I discovered the ScoliCare Clinic last July (2025) in Westminster and paid a visit to Dr. Chris Gubbels. He assessed the problem immediately. I hadn’t been told by the other clinic how to properly wear the brace! I was wearing it way too loosely.
Dr. Chris showed me how to wear it correctly and he set me up with, honestly, the best physical therapist that I have ever been to: Danielle Temple, who works for Dr. Chris. Danielle gives me exercises each time I go (about every two weeks). What I like is she really knows scoliosis and she gives me exercises that are not overwhelming. They are tailored exactly to my particular case of scoliosis. She spends the whole session just with me (unlike the other clinic) and she corrects me kindly if I do it wrong.😊Also! What is truly helpful is she puts all the exercises on the SimpleSet App (with pictures and little videos) so I know exactly what to do when I get home! The App is so fun! It keeps track and sends little rewards as you do the exercises! I am actually getting stronger and straighter at 69 years old!! I actually can hold myself up straight!! I am developing strong back and shoulder muscles!! I am just so thankful for this ScoliCare Clinic in Westminster. I drive from Colorado Springs but I don’t mind. It’s the best care I have ever received.

Long story short, the brace and the program have merits, but I am so disappointed by the communication and support I received from Scolicare that I’m looking for a different doctor. Honestly, I wish I could get a portion of my money back. This was so financially, emotionally, and physically taxing for me in a way that didn’t feel understood, validated, or respected, even when I made it very clear what a challenge it was. For reference, I am in my 30s, with moderate to severe idiopathic scoliosis. It is a major source of stress for me. I don’t have pain, but I was hoping to make aesthetic improvements and help keep the curve from getting worse. I don’t want surgery, and after a lot of research this was the best option. Looking back a year into the process, I don’t know if this office was prepared to work with my case. I see how they track progress with young growing patients based on curve progression reduction, and with older patients who have pain and mobility issues, but with me it didn’t feel like they had communicable metrics to base treatment on as we progressed. I was also hoping to get some daily activity suggestions like how to sit or lay down in the best way to not exacerbate my curves, or what specific exercises or movements to avoid when working out, and I was under the impression we’d work on this kind of thing as part of the program, but we didn’t. I gave them the benefit of the doubt until after a year, when I reached the end of the ScoliBalance sessions, and I didn’t know I had reached the end until I was informed I had to pay $200 more for the session I had just finished. Afterwards, I reached out about my treatment plan, and after two weeks of trying to get a response and following up again, I finally got some answers to about a third of my questions. At the last appointment, they wanted to schedule again the next month, but when I expressed I couldn’t afford more sessions, I was informed that now I only need annual checkups. I have no idea what they based this progress info on. I asked, but it’s been weeks once again with no email response. I asked multiple times in those emails what the plan going forward for my brace was, again no response. (I will note that I did get one voicemail in this process, but I reiterated both before and after that that I preferred email due to my schedule constraints, and so I could refer back to the info later. Also, because this is an emotionally charged subject for me, I feel I can articulate myself and communicate better via email. Weeks have passed since the most recent point of contact, with me having reached out again.)
If I were to do my job this way, the client would get something free, or at least an apology or a modicum of accountability. I’ve already paid them $8000, it would be cool to at least get an email back.
They’re not malicious or scammy or anything like that, and I don’t want to be too harsh; some of the folks at the office are very kind and hardworking people. To be honest though, that doesn’t matter when my health is on the line and the doctor isn’t performing their job effectively. I really don’t like leaving low reviews, but there is no excuse for this kind of irresponsibility, and I think anyone considering this office should be aware of what to potentially expect.
