Luxury apartment with river and sea views
☺ Superb facilities and very clean, the apartment was all we could have expected, with great views (across the unattractive port complex) to amazing scenery beyond. Secure parking was reassuring. The trains running beliw were audible but not annoying. Great balcony behind bi-fold doors to extend the living area.
☹ Pillows were far too soft for our liking.
Wifi shaky on our first evening, making TV viewing a challenge, but much better thereafter.

This cottage was in a great location, walkable to the ferry to Dartmouth and very close to National Trusts in Devon. Was disappointed they were doing maintenance on the log burner but the place was very clean and all bedrooms were a good size. The loft did get very bright in the mornings as well.
We had the best stay at Oyster Catcher Cottage! The location is excellent with views over the harbour. Walking distance to all local shops, pubs and restaurants. The house felt very homely and had everything we needed. Will definitely be booking again, cannot wait to come back!

Great location, which was the main driver for booking. Very clean and comfy beds. Bathrooms could do with a refresh. Accessing the property in the dark was a bit precarious with luggage. Agents need to provide clearer instructions on how to access property - from behind / above property as opposed to at lower level. Better lighting on steep, narrow steps to front door definitely required. Motion sensor at front door didn’t work so we had to rely on mobile phone torches
A lot about the house was good, such as walkable to the ferry, nicely-presented open plan downstairs kitchen and living room area. We didn’t have a great stay there however. When we arrived on Sat, the house was cold with no base level heating on, and the top bedroom had a sodden carpet because the velux window was wide open and there had been heavy rain recently. Luckily it hadn’t reached the bed. Saltwater Escapes responded by putting down some towels on the carpet, but didn’t send a dehumidifier as I’d suggested until I called again on Mon morning when they sent heaters and a dehumidifier, as well as a plumber promptly that day for a blocked loo. There was a damp smell from this in the whole house.The back door didn’t lock. There were no house instructions in hard copy and the online ones weren’t extensive. Bedside lights didn’t work. No oven gloves or small ovenware dishes, colander, scissors. No curtains (only net) in top bedroom. No recycling bins. Wood burner out of action.

We are sincerely sorry that certain aspects did not meet your expectations and appreciate the opportunity to clarify and respond to the points raised. We wish to express our regret regarding the unprecedented water ingress through the Velux window, which resulted in the damp carpet in the top bedroom. Once this issue was reported, our housekeeper attended promptly to implement temporary measures, and upon your follow-up on Monday, heaters and a dehumidifier were provided. We understand that the resulting damp smell affected your comfort and apologise for this unavoidable inconvenience. With respect to the blocked toilet, this occurred three days into your stay and was not present or reported prior to your arrival. Nonetheless, a plumber attended the same day to resolve the matter without delay. We would also like to clarify that our Digital Guest Guide, provided at the time of booking, and again several times prior to your arrival clearly states that the log burner was out of action, along with essential details regarding parking and other property features. The booking was made on 9th January, approximately one month prior to arrival, which allowed ample opportunity to review this information and contact us with any questions or concerns, or to amend the reservation if required. We are sorry to hear about the problem with your car during your stay. While parking arrangements and information are clearly outlined in the Guest Guide and are outside of our direct responsibility, we appreciate how distressing this experience must have been and are sorry for the inconvenience caused. We do, however, value your feedback regarding household equipment, furnishings, and facilities. Genuine feedback of this nature is extremely helpful and allows us to review and improve our property standards and guest experience. At Saltwater Escapes, we pride ourselves on responding promptly and effectively to any issues guests may experience during their stay. Every effort was made to attend to the matters raised and to accommodate you as quickly as possible once they were brought to our attention. Thank you again for your comments. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a 4 night break to celebrate his 60th birthday.The apartment was spotlessly clean and modern with everything you’d expect.Location was high on the hill overlooking the bay and I’d say a car would be very helpful unless you particularly liked walking up and down hills.We took our two dogs with us and they provided the essentials like poop bags and cleaning products and there was a lovely big decking area for them to have a run around and get some fresh air.Overall it was a superb break in a lovely apartment which we wholly recommend. 10/10

Good location but let down by problems with fixtures and fittings.

☹ The key box didn’t work properly so had to report this as we couldn’t get in. Had been previously reported by other people.
Toilet handle broke. Had to report it. Handyman came but it took all day to fix.

Regarding the lock box, the unprecedented level of rain this year caused it to become very stiff. As soon as this was reported, we immediately provided access via the spare lock box to ensure there was no delay to your stay.
The toilet handle was also addressed the same day it was reported, and a handyman attended promptly to resolve the issue.
We always aim to respond quickly to any maintenance concerns to minimise disruption, and we appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention.

The apartment was in a good location within easy walking distance of the shops, pubs and restaurants of Teignmouth. The only downside that we found was having to enter the code into the key pads every time you wanted to go through a door or gate. It was like trying to get into a high security facility. That said though I suppose it is better than having free public access to the building.
