Untrustworthy liars. Never have I/we been blamed for things we haven’t done in order to keep our deposit from any holiday property’s. Robbed us of £200 “damage deposit” for damage we didn’t do & braking rules we didn’t brake. “Red wine stains” “dog hairs & poo” “dirty bedding” “rule breaking” “didn’t tell them we had a dog” Didn’t drink red wine or anything of that sort, didn’t see such thing when we cleaned the property and checked before leaving. Dog hairs- yes, it’s a dog friendly property (speak with booking.com don’t blame us if it didn’t come through or is incorrect) Poo - unless it was hidden somewhere it’s a cat or a lie as several of us checked around all gardens just before leaving Dirty bedding - washing machine? Rule breaking - Lie. We didn’t brake any rules. Fag buts - we used ashtrays and again checked before leaving Now we answered. They won’t answer why they assumed before we even stayed there that we were a problem group as they cancelled our trip stating there were too many of us even though three booking sites allowed for our party size! Before apologising to us for the troubles explaining they were anxious and going through house rules in order to allow us the stay. We arrived to broken and dirty French door blinds, cat poo in both gardens and smelly drains. Spoken to like we were a group of teenagers and hung up on when discussing the deposit. Myself and others in the family are “super guests” on other platforms and never received complaints or lost deposits from any other property’s/booking sites etc and we stay away regularly! We respect the property’s we stay in and go as far as cleaning down and stripping beds etc before leaving. Can’t believe the customer service and cheek of this company 😮

Torquay November break We stayed at Bayview Retreat in Torquay for a few days in November. The property has a great view across Torbay from the terrace. The open plan living room/kitchen is a good space. All rooms are a good size. It was lovely and warm. An allocated parking space in a secure car park was a bonus. We enjoyed walking to the beach and marina area with our dog, its a pleasant walk but also easy to drive down and plenty of parking at this time of year. Would recommen

I'm a Brit living abroad, we travel quite often and I have to say this is one of my favourite stays so far. It felt like a home away from home, very clean, modern & welcoming. The kids loved it too.

Great coastal cottage in the heart of brixham ☺ Great location overlooking the harbour.... very close to town and easy to walk everywhere. Property had everything you wanted and nice touches like a pint of milk and coffee etc ☹ Property is great and can't fault Would recommend putting on instructions/making it clear not to drive up to the cottage... especially not in an suv as you can't turn and have to reverse thought the tightest roads

We appreciate your helpful note regarding vehicle access, we will ensure our arrival instructions highlight this even more clearly, particularly for larger vehicles. Perfect All Year Round Retreat We stayed at Torquay Bayview Retreat and really enjoyed our few days by the sea. The apartment is in a great location for exploring the beaches, parks, marina and town. When we arrived, we were pleased to have allocated secure parking. The parking area is well lit and has good signage. It was easy to find where we were staying and we couldn't wait to have a look around. The accommodation is really well set out and very welcoming and warm. There is everything you need to self cater. The outside terrace is a great size and perfect for watching the sunrise and sunset over Torbay. We enjoyed walking down to the beach and parks each day with our small dog. We found plenty of dog friendly cafes on our travels. We also visited Paignton seafront and Brixham harbour. There is so much to do and see in the area all year round. We will definitely return.

Good ☺ Cottage was lovely, clean and very well equipped. ☹ Nowhere to park, so struggled with luggage and a hill or steps wherever you park, location not for people that struggle with steps or hills. Courtyard was about the size of a telephone box, so nowhere to let the dog out to toilet without taking them out on the lead up / down the steps.

Bayview Retreat We stayed at the lovely Torquay Bayview Retreat in early autumn. The weather was pleasantly mild, the view from the apartment’s terrace spectacular and the countryside stunningly green. Part of the ‘English Riviera’, with is sandy beaches, coastal walks and rolling hills and vales, it really is the quintessential English landscape! As a history buff I found much of ‘Old England’ to discover. Kent’s Cavern, a prehistoric cave in nearby Peignton, is well worth a visit. A palaeolithic labyrinth of caverns, with 400-million-year-old stalagmites and stalactites, it now includes exhibits of Ice Age tools and fossils. Close to Torquay is charming Totnes, full of local crafts. Once a Roman settlement, with a road running north along the River Dart, it has always been a transport throughfare. In the nineteenth century its cider and woollen warehouses, now residential and office blocks, were served in the Industrial Revolution by barges, and you can still enjoy peaceful rambles along the old towpath. High up Totnes’s main street it’s the 11th century Norman motte-and-bailey Castle (now run by English Heritage) and the walk around the ramparts of the 14th century keep offers 360-degree views of the surrounding countryside. In Dartington, nestled in the valley, is the very beautiful Dartington Estate with its Courtyard and Grade II Listed Gardens (entry fee applies) and free access to footpaths and trails. Its quaint village is renowned for its musical and cultural events as well as its handmade crystal industry, local craft shops and fine food outlets. A week’s stay in Torquay was not enough for us. Next time we would love to explore Exmouth and Lyme Regis on the west Jurassic Coast, and inland to the Dartmoor National Park, an open moorland, and Exeter Cathedral, dating back to the 12th century. Thank you, Nick for maintaining a beautiful apartment as well as a veritable launching pad to Devon’s amazing scenery and rich history! Charles

Very good local amenities, clean, comfortable and would stay here again. ☺ Excellent location as long as passing fish lorries at 5.30 am would not disturb your sleep. Very clean with comfortable beds and soft towels. The La Petite Maison restaurant below is also excellent if looking to dine out. ☹ The bathroom is "compact" with little space for four persons effects and the upper double bedroom could do with a wardrobe or somewhere to hang shirts and trousers. Also not suitable for those who cannot handle steps between floors well.

Dear Colin,
Thank you for your thoughtful review. We are pleased you found the property clean, comfortable, and conveniently located, and that you enjoyed the restaurant below. We appreciate your helpful comments regarding the bathroom space and the need for additional storage, and we will share this with the owner for consideration. It is lovely to hear that you would stay again, and we would be very happy to welcome you back in the future.
