This was our second trip with RDS. We had an absolutely great experience. All the staff including Mike & Rogan are very familiar with the route and schedule regular rest and interesting stops. The country is beautiful! The group was assembled from many countries and we all got along great. The lodging and food was fantastic. Support vehicle did a great job meeting us when necessary for bag drops or bike support. Never more than a few minutes away. Thanks for a great ride!

RDS were fabulous for our nine day tour from Joburg to Cape Town. Already thinking about our next tour with them!!! We had a phenomenal time. The staff were extremely professional but also a great laugh. The tours were well planned with lots of great roads, passes and gravel tracks all punctuated with timely and often interesting rest stops. No need to worry about skill level, they have you covered. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

RDS truly delivered on a trip of a lifetime. We rode from Johannesburg to Cape Town over 3000km across spectacular roads(on and off) with views to die for and superb accommodation. The team went above and beyond and were great throughout and the icing on the cake is we met a really great bunch of like minded riders on the tour. Can’t wait for the next trip!

Mike and Andrew are the best and I had a fantastic one day ride with Mike in Cape Town. I found their website via Google and from day one they were quick to respond and answered all my questions in detail. The motorbike (NX 500) was in top shape, it was actually almost a brand new bike. Mike took really good care of me, and tailored the whole day to my level of riding experience. We rode around the Cape peninsula, saw the penguins and even stopped for an ostrich burger (I am glad I took Mike's recommendation, that burger was delicious!) The whole day was a fantastic experience. If you ride with Mike, you'll be in good hands - he is an experience tour guide, a genuinely helpful person and someone who'll take care of you. Thank you Andrew and Mike for making my trip to Cape Town an experience I'll always remember!

My family and I had a truly epic adventure with Andrew at Ride Down South. We were traveling to Cape Town and reached out about a rental and a guided day trip with only two weeks notice. Andrew got back to me within the day and agreed to help us out. There was some threatening weather in the forecast and Andrew offered kindly to move the tour by a few days, no charge. However, we only had one day and we asked if we might press on. Andrew was fine with some rainy riding. Little did we know, it would turn out to be one of the wettest rides I've ever taken. After 30min, my feet were swimming in water, hands soaked, and visibility very poor indeed. Still, Andrew steered us to a great coffee shop. We elected to press on through mountain passes, vineyards, and ultimately to a truly beautiful sky. After all was said and done, we saw hours of smooth, twisted roads, gorgeous views and thick fog, epic rain and calm skies, and made it back by 5:30pm. Our rental Africa Twin and Transalp were rock solid, passengers comfortable, and up to every challenge. Through it all, Andrew was a great guide. He clearly knew the territory by heart, took us on great roads, matched our pace, took photos, and provided an awesome trip recap after. Based on our experience, I can and do highly recommend anyone looking to ride in South Africa reach out to Andrew and Ride Down South.

I had an incredible adventure tour with this company from Cape Town to Victoria Falls in May 2025. It was an absolute dream come true! We rode on these amazing Honda Africa Twin bikes, which were perfectly suited for the rugged terrain we explored through South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana. Our tour guide, Big Mike, was an absolute legend. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the route and made sure we had an unforgettable experience. Most of our accommodation was in stunning locations, and the food was absolutely delicious. Andrew, the owner of the company, was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout our trip. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to explore the incredible interior of Africa on a motorcycle. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

I recently did the 14 day Seascapes, Switchbacks and Safari tour with Ride Down South and it was excellent from start to finish. For anyone wanting to explore South Africa, this is the way to do it: great bikes, great guides, great accommodation, great food and great support. Ride Down South is pretty unique in having a support vehicle on hand throughout the whole tour, carrying your luggage so you can ride light, and with spare bikes on hand in case needed. Mike and Rogan are fantastic guides and make sure the whole trip runs smoothly and you find the best roads en route. Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting an experience the beauty of South Africa in a smooth and hassle-free style!

I recently finished the Cape Town to Kruger road trip. Two wonderful weeks of fantastic scenery and roads, great company and delightful hotels. We were a group of nine riders plus a support vehicle and trailer. The owner of Ride Down South, Andy Vaughan also accompanied the team with a videographer in a separate van so as to capture promotional footage with hand held and drone cameras. The South African landscapes are incredibly beautiful, our journey over 3,500 kilometres crossed deserts, agricultural plains and mountain ranges. There were a couple of unfortunate mishaps, outside anyone’s control, but the team looked after us making it easy to relax and enjoy our holiday while they were flexible enough to support everyone and make all the logistics work. I rode the route to Windhoek with Andy and two other customers three years ago so I arrived this time with high expectations. Those were fully met and I would recommend this country and this team to anyone.

Ive been on several tours and ride down south is The best of the best! I rode from Cape town to Victoria falls. Andrew was a fantastic guide, honest, cared about the local people and the wild life. He's put a lot of thought into the trip, used the best routes, stayed at fantastic hotels and eat great food. An overlander himself, he really knows his stuff, taking everything in his stride from african beurocracy, animal identification to bush mechanics, it's a joy to behold. A genuine trip of a lifetime.

Great trip, and visited some really nice places. Very nice bunch of guys on the tour and I am sure we all enjoyed each others company. Unfortunately the long boring days on sealed roads weren’t ideal for me. On some days it was just a slog sitting on the bike to get to the next accommodation. A bit more adventure riding would have made the trip a 10 out of 10.

I rode with these guys from Cape Town to Victoria falls in August and september 2024. The tour was well organized and the guide was excellent. The accommodations varied depending on where we ended up that day, but all were excellent for what they were. Our group was just the best and we are all still in touch. We developed an excellent sense of camaraderie. I totally recommend ride down south.

I organised a one day tour to visit the Cape of Good Hope and enjoyed the experience so much I did another one a few days later! Mike my tour guide was excellent, both his knowledge and stopping at key points for photo shoots as the scenery was spectacular! Nice well prepared bike. Absolutely thoroughly enjoyed the two days and would heartily recommend this company! Can’t wait to visit South Africa again!
