Capt. Ryan is one of the best I've been with, an absolute homerun if you're visiting KW. Personable, professional, patient teacher, great boat, knows how to adjust for customizing your trip, kept his ABSOLUTE cool w/ an unfortunate situation on board (customers fault, not his). Cant recommend the half day trip w/ this great guy enough. You wont be sorry for booking w/ him!!

Captain Ryan is the man! We’ve been fishing with him for years and his excursions are always the highlight of our trips to Key West. He is easy going and extremely knowledgeable about all things fishing. His positive and enthusiastic attitude help make it a great experience. We always have so much fun catching fish and captain Ryan always makes it happen! Definitely would recommend.

Ryan spent time helping me improve my casting and reeling and I ended up pulling up a few nice catches! Ryan is right at home teaching a beginner like myself learn the basics or helping out an experienced angler reel in a trophy catch. I highly recommend Recon Sportfishing Charters if you're going to be down in Key West. The best day of your trip will be the day you're out on the water with Ryan.

Been to Key West and chartered many boats over the years. Capt. Ryan was top notch across the board! Most fish we’ve caught in a single outing ever. 4 guys on the boat that day and we all got our fill. Planning to rebook for the same time next year!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What an incredible experience! From start to finish, the customer service was top-notch, and Ryan made sure we had an unforgettable day on the water. We caught tons of fish — the action never stopped! It was my daughter’s first time fishing, and she had an absolute blast. My son was completely hooked (pun intended!) and couldn’t stop talking about it. Such a wonderful time for the whole family — we can’t wait to go again! Must do fishing in Key West! Highly recommend Capt Ryan! We had an amazing day of fishing with Captain Ryan! The boat ride to and from had beautiful views of various islands of the FL Keys. We caught snapper that we took back to our hotel and had it cooked for dinner. Then, we caught a variety of other fish and finished the day with tarpon ranging from about 10 lbs to 35 lbs. So much fun! Highly recommend Captain Ryan.

Smart, fun, instructive guide. Strongly recommend on a day of fishing. Want to thank my new friend Ryan for a wonderful day out in August 2025 back country fishing. From the moment we stepped on the boat we were welcomed with a friendly smile and some laughs. His boat set-up was perfect for me and my son, but spacious enough for 4 grown men easily. Typically in a 4 hour trip, you don’t expect much, but after loading up with some bait fish he took us out on a 30 min drive (he doesn’t care about burning fuel to get you fish). Once we stopped, we had snapper in the boat 10 minutes later. We maxed out in snapper, than he drove another 20 minutes to a second spot. He said there were tarpon there. 2 casts in and I got a tarpon. 10 minutes later my son had a tarpon. It was an amazing experience building such great memories with my son. Ryan is a perfect captain to get out on the water. A true guide who knows where the fish will be, what bait to use and his chilled out instructions guided us to land a couple prized sportfish. I will use Ryan again on future visits to key west. You can’t miss with this guy!! Great day.

Excellent Key West Fishing Guide, Highly Recommended! Ryan is an outstanding fishing guide and I highly recommend him for your Key West fishing needs. My wife and I booked Ryan for a six-hour backcountry fishing/sandbar tour and our experience was fantastic, all thanks to Ryan (and the tarpon biting!).He is a first-rate fishing guide. His 24-foot Pathfinder was clean, comfortable, and perfect for backcountry/flats fishing.Ryan won't mention it unless you ask, but he served as a special forces operator with the U.S. Army Rangers in Iraq and Afghanistan. His experience with the special forces has equipped him to handle a wide range of situations, and it translates well to being a fishing guide (safety, high level of awareness, ability to navigate poor weather conditions, etc.).Ryan is also very engaging, polite, and an all-around pro. He took us to three amazing fishing spots where the mangrove snapper (we caught enough for dinner) and tarpon were biting (we caught 8 tarpon, an all-time high for me and I've fished for years).Again, I would highly recommend Ryan if you're considering a fishing charter in Key West.

What an amazing day of fishing in Key West! Captain Ryan is clearly a highly skilled fishing guide, and he put us on some big snappers, yellow jacks, and even a cobia. We caught enough fish for dinner and then some. Ryan was sooooo patient with baiting our hooks and preventing lines from getting tangled. The boat was perfect for the four of us. Truly the highlight while visiting Key West! We will definitely be back out with Ryan in the future!

Great time on some beautiful waters. Ryan was excellent, asked us what we wanted to target, took us to a few spots. Did not stay long if the bite was slack. Wore us out on some big Jacks then we fished for some Mangroves and brought home a tasty dinner. Engaged in some great conversation also. Highly recommend this Captain!!!

A fishing adventure!! Fished with Ryan on a full day trip and am still excited about it! I have said it before and will say it again......some Captains take you on a trip, Captain Ryan will give you a fishing adventure!! Conditions were less than ideal, but he put me on this 80lb class Tarpon!! We then went and caught some fish fornthe fryer and ended up with some nice snapper. Absolutely wonderful trip and can't hardly wait to donit again!!
