Paid him $2,000.00 to handle a tax issue with the DOF. He gave me a 95% guarantee that he would get the issue resolved and that I wouldn't owe the DOF anythin. In the end, we lost and I not only had to pay the DOF but I had to pay quite a bit more because of all the time that had passed.
In addition to that, it was so costly that I had to claim hardship and make a four (4) year payment plan which will end uo costing me more money.
After all of that, Mr Woloshen had the nerve to send me another bill for $50.00 with finance charges added on.
Customer service: The secretary was very pleasant but Mr. Woloshen was rude and condesending.
I had considered making him my accountant but considering the above, I will look elsewhere.
I would give him less than 1 star if I could. I used him last year for fairly complicated estate and family taxes for which he did reasonable work but dealing with him is very unpleasant. I only used him again this year because I had to finish the complicated estate filings (I did my personal taxes with someone else who was much easier to work with and just as competant). Every time I have a question for Mr. Woloshen he gives the shortest most unhelpful answer he possibly can seemingly to only make your life more difficult. He charges top dollar for unfriendly, marginal service. There are far too many CPAs in NYC out there to tolerate such behavior. Go somewhere else. He clearly needs less work if he doesn't have time to be helpful to his paying clients.
I'm a bookkeeper and two of my clients have had the exact same issue with Bob: seemingly random and capricious bills for services and very small phone calls. None are happy with this, though the work he does is accurate and timely.
I've never felt so strongly negative about any service, ever.
(esp. enough to leave a review)
The customer service here is absolutely terrible. Any frustration I had over taxes should have been easily resolved, but no one there can communicate to any concise degree. Whenever I had a frustration (usually brought on my miscommunication or complete lack thereof) I was responded to passive aggressively and with attitude.
Takeaways:
1: I was made to feel like an idiot consistently.
2: Costs were not transparent, never discussed, and simply billed to me and a couple times not to the correct address so I missed them.
3: Every phone call cost money, and a lot of it, you cannot ask for advise here and they won't tell you they're charging you (even if they call you.)
4: They made my tax situation more complicated than I had ever made it myself, I was confident before meeting them, just wanted to switch to someone in my time zone.
5: Emails and documents were provided in a completely disorganized way, or left out all together, and when asked for them I was charged AGAIN, which made me fear to get what I needed for risk of further charge. EVERY request is like pulling teeth.
5: Meetings that I made with Robert, and travelled a good distance to make, were brushed off. He made a time with me and then when I arrived he was unavailable. I was literally told to "go home" and they would handle it. When demanded to speak to someone because I needed to understand what was happening with my money, The woman who helped me was kind in person, (albeit hard to understand, even in person let alone future emails) and my entire account was then switched to communicating with her from then on. She was terrible, as was Rob, and I felt like a nuisance as opposed to a PAYING client.
Truly, I am a very easy going, adaptable, intelligent person and these people made everything 200% more difficult than anything needed to be. I've never gotten so emotional over something as solvable as taxes.
I regret I ever reached out to them and hope none of you have to go through the frustration I did with this company.
I'd recommend avoiding them all together.
side note: I even waited to post this review out of fear because they owed me a document and I wouldn't put it past them to withhold it from me because they were bitter.
This was my experience with this firm:
* Dereliction of his duty to provide adequate professional counsel regarding consequences of forming an S-corp in the middle of the tax season. I consulted with another accountant after receiving my taxes and he agreed this was not good advice. This accountant stated he would have counseled me to continue as a sole proprietor through the end of the 2017 tax season and file as an S-corp in the beginning of the new tax season;
* For not disclosing his full fee during our initial meeting;
* For being dismissive, patronizing and non-communicative when asked to fully explain to me my tax responsibilities as an S-corp as well as the proper way to withdraw and categorize non-payroll money from my business account. I explicitly stated during our initial meeting that I wanted to be a partner in the filing of my taxes so I understood everything expected of me. This did not happen.
* For leaving me to contact the IRS to dispute $1476 in additional taxes they said I owed after the taxes were filed by Woloshen. When I received this notice, I emailed him with a copy of the notice asking what I needed to do. He stated that the IRS was wrong and I needed to contact them which I did. I spent two hours on the phone with the IRS only to be told that HE was in error. He continues to deny this.
I would not recommend him.

I've worked with 2 other accountants prior to working with Bob. the services was good, but I felt I was missing something. I came across Bob on google and upon consulting, I knew he was the right person for me. Bob is the best!
He has handled my taxes since 2013 and has done a phenomenal job every year for my small business and personal.
I am very confident with my financials in his hands. He and his team are very prompt and responsive. I've gotten general questions answered via email with no charge. I expect my accountant to be knowledgable, honest, and helpful. His prices are competitive and his service is no BS. He gets it done, and gets it done right.

Thanks Jashim, always a pleasure to work with you.
I found Bob after 2 other accountants didn't work out, and I've stuck with him since then because he does good work, is dependable, honest, and no-nonsense. I don't want my accountant to be my best friend, I want them to get the job done and do it right. He answers questions right away, without charging for quick questions, charges a comparable price for his services, and is very up front. 2 other members of my family now use him, as well as my small business.

I aim to please and enjoy working with you
Bob Woloshen has been handling my taxes for the past five years. He and his staff have always done a thorough and timely job. I have also called him occasionally during the year with (admittedly simple) tax questions, which he has answered promptly and with no charge. I recently referred a friend to him who runs her own business, and she was extremely happy with the results he achieved for her. I think his prices are competitive with those of other accountants in Manhattan. I'm surprised to see these negative reviews; they don't correspond to my experience.
Awful, horrible person who provides crappy service and gouges you. Charged me $1000 for a filing that had only one line item. Then tried to charge me for a 5 minute "consultation" by his completely green and not very bright assistant - I only asked a simple explanation - and he tried to charge me for it! This guy is the worst provider of any service I have ever encountered in my life. Stay away!
