Part of me wants this business to do great the other wants to keep it a secret from people so it doesn’t get over crowded. The food is the bomb dot com. The service was spectacular.

We ate here for lunch on the weekend amid the super cold temperatures outside (10-20 degrees below freezing). So when the server asked us what we'd like to drink, we asked for hot water (later found out we were charged $1 for each cup of hot water). We ordered the beef rendang, chicken satay and singapore noodles (with tofu and vegetables). I had been hoping to try the soft shelled crab but perhaps it's out of season or no longer on the menu as I didn't see it.
The chicken satay came out first, it was 4 sticks of skewered chicken drenched in a slightly spicy creamy peanut sauce. This was the second favorite dish of the table as the chicken was tender and the peanut sauce paired well with it.
The singapore noodles were unexpected the favorite of the table. The flavor profiles weren't too crazy just a simple curry flavor but mixed with the thin noodles and other ingredients, it was savory and not too heavy to eat a lot of.
The beef rendang was the last dish to come out, the beef pieces were very tender and this was the spiciest dish out of all 3 that we had ordered. It came with about a bowl's worth of white rice on the side and some cucumbers and purple cabbage salad.
It was a pretty okay lunch. Not the best Malaysian food I've had (Chinatown is still the best spot for me) but it's a good spot if you're craving Malaysian food in the west village area.
Bathrooms were immaculately clean which is always a plus.
Why is this place not famous? Come here if you want generous service and the most delicious food in NYC, Malaysian or not. They started us off with a vegetable soup on the house. It was hot, full of umami and a pleasant surprise.
Ordered the curry laksa, prawn mee, aubergine with basil, and omelette. The laksa was coconutty and came with fresh prawns. Opted for the mixed noodles and they gave a variety of 3 types of noodles in the bowl.
The prawn mee had kangkung (morning glory) and prawns as fresh as the former dish. The soup was spicier than the laksa, as guaranteed by the waitress.
The omelette burst with flavours that make you surprised egg can hold such flavour. Truly, it tasted like an omelette back in Malaysia. The aubergine portion was large and was stir fried in a very tasty chilli paste. Almost akin to terung belacan back home for fellow Malaysians.
For dessert, we got teh tarik and onde onde. The Teh tarik was fragrant and bubbly. Just the best. Onde onde was served hot, indicating they boil it to order and then toss it in the coconut shavings just in time for the customer to enjoy.
I wish this would go viral as a place to enjoy authentic Malaysian dishes as much as any other eateries go viral in this city.

My husband and I ate here for the last Iftari.
The staff were so kind and accommodating, which inspired me to leave a review. We arrived 40 minutes early. They took our order and made it closer to when my husband could break his fast. They also offered dates, which was nice.
We had the roti canai (loved it!) and the appetizer sampler (liked it). For dinner I had the bbq chicken and he had Singapore noodles.
If you only eat halal, the food was great and I highly recommend this place!
If you eat halal and some non-halal, there are places in Elmhurst, Queens that I like a little better.
Overall, the service was amazing, and I will definitely be back with my halal friends!
We had a wonderful dining experience at Rasa Malaysian Restaurant. My wife and I decided to try their traditional Malaysian cuisine, and everything exceeded our expectations.
The food was authentic, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. You can truly taste the traditional Malaysian spices and cooking style in every dish. The portions were generous, and the quality of the ingredients was excellent.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal with family. The staff were also very friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we are very happy we chose this restaurant. I highly recommend Rasa to anyone who wants to experience real Malaysian food.🥘
