I hired an attorney in March 2022 to help with my mother’s estate planning. While he seemed professional at first, communication quickly became inconsistent and dismissive—especially toward my mother, who was elderly and had understandable questions. She ultimately felt uncomfortable speaking with him, which is unacceptable in such a sensitive and personal matter.
Despite repeated follow-ups, basic documents and responses took months—if they came at all. I eventually had to hire a new attorney just to get the necessary paperwork and finish the job correctly. Looking back, that decision was absolutely the right one, as several important tasks had been left incomplete.
After my mother passed away in January 2024, I thought this chapter was closed. Then, out of nowhere, I received a bill last week dated May 2024 for work allegedly done in September 2023—work that only occurred because I needed the new attorney to step in. I never received the original invoice, and when I emailed asking for a phone call, no one followed up—just another automated reminder. To make matters worse, the amount increased from $105 to $125 by the time I went to pay it.
I paid it to put the situation behind me, but the lack of professionalism, poor communication, and gall to charge more after everything is infuriating. If you’re looking for respectful, timely, and competent legal support—especially for a vulnerable loved one—I would strongly encourage you to keep looking.

Raphan Law Partners was of great assistance to our family in multiple matters pertaining to our Aunt Lillian, both during her life and, ultimately, in her passing. Mr. Brian Raphan earned our respect with not only his level of professional handling of our aunt’s legal and financial affairs, but also by his level of care and attention to the details of her needs.
After Lillian’s passing, Mr. Raphan was sure to clearly explain the process before us. He promptly answered questions and returned emails and text messages. We reside in Virginia and our business precluded travel to New York during this sad time. It was Mr. Raphan who provided for Lillian’s final wishes and completed them as directed in her Will. In addition, he coordinated internationally with all of Lillian’s nieces and nephews for the distribution of personal items and the proceeds of the Estate.
On a personal note, I am grateful that Lillian had a trusted advisor that she was fortunate to find in Brian. Should I find myself in need of counsel in New York, I know my first call would be to Brian.

I would like to offer my great appreciation to Matthew Raphan and Tamesha Roberts, both of whom made the impossible happen during a time when the Manhattan Courts had closed down and a sad time when my cousin passed from Covid.
Extremely knowledgeable and patient with my abundance of inquiries, they got the job done and got me through the probate procedure painlessly.
Matthew was totally accessible and there was no delay in response either by phone or email. His professionalism is above and far beyond reproach.
Tamesha, was my guardian angel, extremely capable and informed, and took excellent care of me during the process. We became friends, I’m happy to say.

We were referred by two friends to Brian Raphan's firm to revise our will and we highly recommend Brian and his team. We were hesitant at first that we would not be working directly with Brian, however, we had a great experience with his drafting attorney, Samantha Benidiba, and Brian overseeing the process. Samantha met with us online during the pandemic and did a great job advising us of the best trust and credit shelter options for our family. She was patient, thorough and very knowledgeable. We felt like she was able to answer all our questions. The end product was a will that we can understand and that honors our wishes and protects our interests. Fees are fair and perhaps better than other firms.
