My favourite golf course in north wales it’s stunning views over the mountains and Harlech castle add to its beauty. This course is well maintained with great holes and good challenge for every golfer the last 5 holes are a real test looking forward to my next visit oh a quick mention to the bar area which serves good food and drinks with friendly staff. Cheers
Just play it, don't hesitate just play it. Eight of us played both courses over 2 days. Tremendous layouts on both courses. The greens run really well, very true. We played the Dunluce course first. A really warm welcome, the starter came onto our bus and gave us the run down on what to expect, where to go and what to do. Great introduction to the course. I'd recommend a fore caddy to help with lines on your tee shots and yardage into the greens with the wind blowing. Ours was really helpful. With the sunshine the views are spectacular. We played the Valley Links on the second day. We were pretty lucky with the weather, there was rain in the forecast which dropped the wind right down, we only had rain on two holes. Again, we had a really helpful fore caddy and I would recommend it. The Valley course is a little more open. I hit a couple of wild drives that would be lost on the Dunluce course but ended up on an a joining fairway on the Valley course. Got to know the group on those fairways pretty well over the course of the day. :)
We had a lively debate over Guiness as to which was better Royal County Down or Royal Port Rush. We were deadlocked at 4-4. My view is, if I could go back and only play one, I'd choose Royal Port Rush. Shot the same on both courses, so no favouritism for a better score.
Great course which has an excellent back 9. The 15th in particular is memorable and if the wind blows you certainly know it! Greens getting quick (May) with a level of consistency you want to see. Fairways equally as good and the club provides hospitality to match. A great setting with the castle and mountains giving you the feeling that they are overseeing your round it’s definitely worth the drive.
One of the most beautiful courses we’ve ever seen. Scenery is spectacular; ocean views from almost every hole. Service is second to none with the warmth and friendliness that the Irish are known for. Guest rooms are limited and book up a year and a half in advance so you need to plan ahead.
