I’ve just finished my RYA Advanced Powerboat course with Portsmouth Marine Training and loved every minute. It was a great mix of fun, challenge, excitement and learning, all run by a fantastic company. We couldn’t have asked for a better instructor too. I’d highly recommend both the course and Portsmouth Marine Training.
I did a Yachtmaster mile builder with Paul, and prep week with Gary a few months back.
Yesterday I finished my first job as skipper, delivering a workboat from Lowestoft to Middlesbrough, and taking another one back down to Great Yarmouth.
I know it would not have went as smooth as it did without the standard of training I received, and can’t thank those guys enough.
You can’t put a price on the practical experience and confidence I gained from their guidance and knowledge.
It was tough couple weeks but I enjoyed it immensely and will always look back on the time fondly.

Linda and I had a fantastic two days and felt we achieved a huge amount. The pragmatic nature of the two days with it being balanced with our objectives was superb.
Huge credit to Tim as his tuition was spot on in terms of style, pace and knowledge. Nothing was too much trouble.

I’ve been boating for years but never got around to doing any formal qualifications. I decided to do a PB2 course and must say it was fantastic, informative and great fun and I’ve learned a lot. Special thanks to Peter and Ted for being such great instructors and just nice people to spend a weekend with.
I had the great privilege of attending both the Chichester and Portsmouth Marine training all the way from Canada to seek my RYA day skipper accreditation. From first contact with Nikki to completion of the practical course, everything was very well laid out and exceptionally professional. The onshore portion taught by David was a well rounded course in a wonderful class setting, David is exceptionally patient and knowledgeable. The next week on board Celeste cruising the Solent is one I’ll never forget, Celeste is a very beautiful, comfortable, well equipped vessel that sails like a dream. The crew was well looked after by our very experienced, capable skipper and instructor Peter, from provisioning to instruction everything was top notch. As an intermediate sailor I learned so much, they genuinely care and support in every way possible, they want you to succeed and pass. One of the best sailing courses I’ve ever taken. If I could give them 6 stars I would.

what is there to say about the team at Portsmouth Marine Training centre? Well, I initially was bought a a Christmas present for personal watercraft Training, who would have thought that Yamaha would have coined the phrase"Jet Ski" training, to the lights of you and I! things that you learn on a course? I didn't expect the depth of Training I was about to receive, it was a very informative Training session, understanding the importance of safety during riding a water craft! learning about the gravity, the sun and moon effects on tides, weather and water warning signs that are important for everyone's safety! the amount of knowledge. dedication and love for the water, certainly came across throughout the day! thank you to Steve, Nikki and Ollie, it was a exciting, exhilarating and fun packed day!

Just completed my Day Skipper Motor course with Gary, he made what I thought would be a very stressful few days incredibly enjoyable - patience and humour in bucket loads! This was my third course with Portsmouth Marine Training (Helmsman, Sea Survival, Day Skipper) and the enthusiasm and love of the water shown by both Gary and Steve on all courses was infectious, they have a wealth of knowledge and are fantastic at what they do. I cannot recommend Portsmouth Marine Training enough!

Completed PWC Proficiency Course with Gary & Mark. Highly recommend! Came away with so much knowledge learnt and they were so patient and a great pleasure to learn with! Will definitely be using Portsmouth Marine Training for any courses we wish to do in the future!

I have just finished my 4 day Day Skipper Practical course with Portsmouth Marine Training. The tuition was excellent. Gary was extremely patient with all four of us students. We each came to the course with very different levels of skill, experience and confidence. Gary managed to tailor his approach with each of us so that we all felt encouraged and got the level of support/guidance we needed.
The course is hard work and quite challenging, especially the night passage, but at all times I felt safe and supported and I’m now pretty proud of myself for my achievement!
The boat is in good condition and well equipped.
I would thoroughly recommend Portsmouth Marine Training.
Val Carter and I completed our PB2 with Craig at Portsmouth Marine Training last week. He wasn't at all daunted by having three women in the class, which was a great start (apparently we are more coachable - I think he means we listen more!!). Absolutely loved the course, which was a perfect balance of theory and practical (more of the latter) and I came away feeling much more confident about handling our boat and especially mooring it. I will definitely sign up for the VHF course and the Intermediate Course too. Highly recommend
I have just done the advanced powerboat course training + C of C, VHF src and 1st aid with Portsmouth Marine Training. Instructors Pete and Gary were professional, good humoured, patient and easy to work with at all times. I would highly recommend this company; the facilities, equipment and staff were all great.
Highly recommended portsmouth marine training just completed my pb2 with Jason he's a brilliant instructor weather was terrible but made all the training even better as we used many techniques to help against swells and high winds . Can't recommend this place enough thank you very much I'll be back very soon

i was looking to develop my professional career and learn sailing, i was lucky to get a last minute space and so glad i chose this school.
had the week with Ross the instructor and really enjoyed it and liked the way 3 strangers are shown things and eventually gel as a crew. great team building exercise.
aswell as teaching me the basics, Ross gave me great advice on the next steps to take towards my yachtmaster.

My daughters (17 and 13) and I attended the PWC proficiency course on Tuesday with Kevin and Pete. Even though the weather was abysmal we had a great day out on the water. We had a lot of fun and learnt so much. I can highly recommend Portsmouth Marine Training
