This place is a jewel. The restaurant way back form the curb and the large outside area looks a little rough. Yet it is one of my favorite places. The live music in the background fits perfectly on a sunny afternoon. The grilled chicken sandwich was the best I have ever had. One afternoon it was eggs, grits , biscuits and bacon. Sounds so uninteresting but it was perfect . Tasty , savory, crispy everything you want in a late breakfast, early lunch. I made a point to remember to give it an excellent review. While other places were packed with pretentiousness, this place was packed with easy conversation, good food and good music.
Our table had shrimp & grits, biscuits & gravy & the fried green tomatoes BLT. Big praise on this food!! 🙌 . We all agreed every bite was excellent. The shrimp were large & the gravy with the grits was wonderful! The gravy with biscuits is better than grandmas. The BLT is next level. Food was served hot and quick. They serve brunch till 3. It was so good we could eat it all again.
This venue doesn't get discussed as one of Charleston's go-to spots. That has to change. Port of Call is AWESOME! Located right next to the City Market in the heart of downtown, this is the perfect spot to grab some food, drinks and have a good time. But where this place really steps up its game is event-hosting.
We chose this venue for a rehersal dinner and welcome party, working with Robin. From our first inquiry, Robin was extremely responsive and amazing to work with. She laid out all of the rental options and food and drink packages. The prices were more than reasonable, especially for being downtown. And when it came time for the event, the entire Port of Call team went above and beyond to make sure a great time was had by all.
Very much looking forward to returning to Port of Call on a frequent basis. It does not disappoint.
We stopped by Port of Call after Second Sunday. We chose this place because they have outdoor seating and we had our cat in a stroller and we had eaten here before and knew it would be good. If I could give yall 11 stars, I would!! We were sat with Zoey and she was incredible. She went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and our cat. She even ordered un unseasoned shrimp for her! There was a live singer who was doing a great job. The weather was perfect. The food was amazing. Blackened red fish, fried chicken sandwich. Hush puppies. Go there. Take your pup (or kitty in a stroller) and prepare to leave incredibly satisfied. Thanks again Zoey for the fabulous service! You're amazing.
