After spending a lot of time going to different jewlers to look at some items I had, I had no luck. After a phone call to Dean - it was quickly arranged to meet for an evaluation. Paul visited and looked at all the items and offered a quick and fair price. Both Paul and Dean were highly professional and a pleasure to do Business. Would highly recommend and use again in the future!

I contacted Portobello Antiques after a letter sent to my mother’s house, I contacted Dean as I was looking into selling various antiques and silverware, I had already received estimates from a local auction house. After a meeting with Dean and his business partner they offered a good price and it was a pleasant and very easy experience. I would definitely recommend and I would also use them again.

Fair price and excellent service Dean visited today to make me offers on some gold - coins and jewellery. From the start he was charming and friendly but not in a pushy way. Our meeting lasted about an hour and the offers I was made were both fair and made without any pressure. Bank to bank transfer ensured that I received my money in moments. All in all the experience with Dean was very enjoyable and I would have no hesitation in recommending Portobello to anyone wishing to get a fair price from a reliable buyer for their valuables.

Received a flyer in our post box. I’d been thinking of selling some old jewellery that I don’t wear any more. Dean was very pleasant on the phone and came to visit me very promptly. I was impressed with his friendly manner and professional approach. I appreciated his honesty and advice. You do worry that you are about to get scammed but the money arrived and stayed there! Following a brief look around for somewhere to sell a few items of gold and silver, how lucky we were to come across Portobello! We felt a little uneasy asking complete strangers into our home but from the moment Dean and Paul arrived we felt completely comfortable. Dean was so informative and helpful, answering our endless questions, giving us advice and also a much better financial offer than elsewhere! We had a large amount of costume jewellery - one piece which we thought was worthless caught Dean's expert eye - he took it away to verify and within a week we had a call and a healthy deposit in our bank account. If we need them again we will not hesitate to call Portobello.

Really happy with Dean and Paul. My first experience of dealing with dealers. My father lost money and a huge amount of time dealing with an auction in the past. Dean and Paul were really pleasant to deal with, gave very fair prices, showed evidence of the market trends and when I needed 2 small items back the next day because a family member had an attachment after all, they took care of it with kindness and insured it with tracked mail at their expense.

I responded to a flier from Portebello as had some jewellery to sell, Dean contacted me and came to the house to look at it for me. He was extremely professional and explained his valuations as well as giving me honest feedback when I asked about the pros and cons of going through an auction house. As it happened his valuations were higher and I couldn’t fault his integrity. I would have no hesitation in using his services again and can highly recommend him.

A very efficient process for selling some inherited jewellery. Dean responded on the same day to my enquiry and arranged to visit within a couple of days. He carefully assessed the items and explained his valuations. I was very happy with the price he offered which I felt was likely to be as much if not more than I would get at an auction and without the hassle and overheads. Payment was made on the spot via bank transfer.

Portobello sent out marketing ‘fliers’ which read well and coincided with us wanting to sell some watches and jewellery. I spoke to Paul, sent pics of the items and within two days was sat in a supermarket car park in Devon meeting Dean who as en route to his family holiday. Half an hour later one happy seller and I hope a happy buyer and a patient family waiting in their car. Never had any reason to doubt their honesty and integrity and wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again. We wish them continued success.

I first met Dean and Paul about 6 weeks ago when I answered a leaflet I received in the post. I was naturally very apprehensive in inviting 2 gentlemen I had never met, into my home. I was both surprised and extremely glad that I had taken that step. They bought several items from me and I was very pleased with their offer. They were both extremely polite and very knowledgeable about many things. They were never “pushy” and I felt very comfortable and relaxed dealing with them, so much so that I called Dean back last week and he bought a table from me at a price I was completely satisfied with. The service was exceptional, the bracket was a little too large and without hesitation they arranged to have it shortened for me with the surplus stones being made into earrings.
