Zero Stars. I hired Fernando Prego and Yenifer Yermoso for a condo case. What followed was one of the most unproductive, frustrating legal experiences I’ve ever had, and I ultimately had to fire them.
1. Repeated Unanswered Questions & Generic Responses
During a consultation with Yenifer Yermoso, I asked several specific legal questions directly tied to the merits of my case, in response to the money she was advising me to invest in the case. She told me she would review my questions with another attorney and get back to me. Two weeks passed with no response until I reached out. When she finally replied, it was clear she had forgotten everything I asked — her response simply repeated the same generic advice she gave me on day one. None of my detailed questions were addressed. Waste of time.
2. Defensive Tone Instead of Substance
After many weeks of being ignored, I expressed disappointment about not receiving answers. Instead of addressing my concerns, Fernando immediately emailed me twice ( the only time anyone was actually responsive within 2-3 weeks) in a scolding and defensive tone — even though he clearly did not yet understand the details of the situation he was lecturing me about.
After I had to take the time to explain everything (again), he finally acknowledged that he now understood what I had been asking, and only then did he provide an actual answer, and a small written apology. This was after weeks of delays. They charged me handsomely for all of those wasted generic emails back and forth, despite me telling them in writing initially that I would find the answers on my own and didn't want them wasting anymore time on it if they were just going to ignore my specific questions, and reply weeks later repeating the same generic answers.
3.Critical Failure to Identify a Governing Documents Amendment
The core issue in my dispute involved the assoc's governing documents. A major amendment had been passed that directly affected my case.
The firm never noticed it even though it was blatantly obvious within the public records. They only learned of its existence because I personally brought the amendment to their attention.
Even after I sent it to them, they advised me that I would not be grandfathered through the amendment, because it did not change the number of annual leases, when in fact it as clear as day reduced them from 52 to 24. This made it obvious they had not even read the amendment before advising me to drop the case.
This was particularly troubling because during our initial meeting, Fernando Prego told me explicitly that the firm would not rely on prior written opinions I had obtained from other attorneys and would instead conduct their own thorough independent due diligence (which I would be billed for he stressed).
Yet later, Yennifer told me they had relied solely on the documents I provided, and hadn't even looked to see if there were any amendments — the exact opposite of what Fernando promised. When I pointed this out, they just generically repeated that they were doing a great job.
4. They Charged Me While Providing No Useful Legal Work
Despite my repeated complaints about being ignored, forgotten follow-ups, and unaddressed questions, the invoices kept mounting. Despite zero progress with the case after many months, they charged me $2900, to essentially just reply to my complaints telling me generically that they were doing a great job. I literally paid them $2900 for zero utility.
5. Even After Firing Them, I Had to Chase Down My Refund
After firing the firm and requesting my money back, they promised to return what was left of my retainer.
Weeks later — literally 2–3 weeks — I had to follow up again and ask where my refund was. It turns out they had forgotten that too, and I'm still waiting for it.
Now I have to go through a formal complaint process as well.
Beware.

We appreciate all clients who take the time to share feedback and are sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied. We respectfully provide the following clarification for accuracy and transparency.
1. Allegation of Unanswered Questions
Your claim that your questions were ignored or met with “generic advice” does not reflect the record. After our initial consultation, attorney Fermoso sent you a detailed written response addressing each of your specific inquiries including whether to pay under protest, the viability of a class action, and the legal implications of your LLCs being administratively dissolved. Her email explained the applicable statutes, risks, and required steps before litigation could proceed. You responded at the time thanking her for the information. No confusion or dissatisfaction was expressed.
2. Allegation of Defensive Tone or Misunderstanding
At no time did anyone in our office use a scolding or defensive tone. The communications you reference were direct responses to your requests for clarification regarding reinstatement of the LLCs and your standing to sue. Our guidance was based on the documents you provided and the applicable law.
The brief apology you cite was extended only after you instructed us to avoid detailed explanations and limit responses to “yes or no” to reduce costs—not as an admission of misunderstanding. Your disagreement with our legal recommendations does not mean they were unclear or uninformed.
3. Allegation Regarding the Condominium Amendment
Our office reviewed all documents you initially provided. The amendment you reference was not included in those materials, and law firms are not notified when associations record amendments. Once you brought it to our attention, we reviewed it and incorporated it into our assessment. At no point did we rely on any prior attorney’s opinion; our conclusions were based solely on our independent analysis.
4. Fees and Utility of Work Performed
The suggestion that you were billed “for zero utility” is inaccurate. We advised that both LLCs needed to be reinstated for litigation to proceed. Your decision not to do so prevented the matter from advancing. Nonetheless, you continued to request detailed legal analyses regarding amendments and grandfathering provisions, all of which required time and were itemized transparently. While you may disagree with the conclusions, however, the services provided were substantive and aligned with your requests.
5. Refund Timeline
Your refund was processed promptly once you provided the mailing address. The 5–7 business-day processing period is standard. There were no unreasonable delays beyond that normal process.
