Costs are ridiculous I paid £144 for a short phone conversation about whether or not I would need to apply for planning permission for solar panels in a conservation area. A feasibility report was supposed to arrive by email the same day, I waited until the next day and had to chase it up. Had I accepted their terms to apply for a Lawful Development Certificate to my local council they would have charged me £2,496. 3D drawings would have been an additional £500 + VAT and 3D renders would have been £1000 + VAT. If I wanted their optional fast-track service the cost would have been an additional 50% of the total quote. This would have come to more than the cost of the solar PV panels and installation with no guarantee a development certificate would be approved. Even if if this had been successful the return on investment would have taken at least a decade to break even. My advice is don't bother with this firm, their costs are quite ridiculous.

Professional to the highest standard. Our consultant ( Silas Willoughby ) resourced materials that we could never have found reinforcing our case for approval. Patience is a virtue which shone through with our frequent little changes and requests which were always attended to. The piece de resistance was the fact we got approval, something the planners told us years ago would never happen. First rate service.

AVOID - Money Grabbers AVOID – UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISPUTE OVER FEES My planning application prepared by this company was rejected by the council. They then quoted me £840 to handle the appeal, which I felt was excessive. I chose to complete the appeal myself, which took less than half a day. My appeal was successful. Following this, the company director contacted me requesting payment and claiming copyright over the planning drawings & docs that I had already paid for. They stated the drawings & docs could only be used for the original application and not for an appeal unless I paid them. They’ve sighted the contract which says it’s their intellectual property but nothing in there states I cannot use documents for an appeal on the same planning application nor associated fees for doing so… I have now been told I have 7 days to pay £840 or they will issue a formal Letter Before Claim without further notice. It makes no difference to this company whether the appeal that I completed myself was successful or not. They are literally using this as an opportunity to apply pressure and cash in.

Following our experience with Planning by Design to create visuals for a possible pre application i can only say 'steer clear of this company'. After submitting quite a detailed drawing and brief we were presented with a amatuer visual which didnt even represent the brief we gave, even the following amendment they did still didn't follow the brief. We asked for a refund but they declined, even a partial refund was declined. Total amatures and feel totally ripped off. Be warned, not a credable company in our opinion.

We are sorry to read this review, but we do not accept that it fairly reflects the position.

The service instructed was a pre-application package with indicative 3D designs, not a full detailed architectural or full planning drawing package. That scope was set out clearly in the quotation, invoice and supporting documents from the outset.

The brief provided included a range of sketches, inspiration material, Pinterest links and alternative ideas which is precisely why our process includes revisions. We did not refuse to assist. We confirmed that the first revision request was included and asked for a clear written list of the amendments required so that these could be reviewed and progressed properly.

A refund was not agreed because this was a matter of scope and revisions, not a failure to provide the instructed service. Any separate external circumstances affecting the proposed purchase were outside our control and unrelated to the service we were engaged to provide.

We always aim to deal with concerns professionally and fairly, and we remain satisfied that our position in this matter has been reasonable and in line with the agreed service and terms.
