Editing to add : The owner states I was blocked due to trying to harm a business. I said what I stated here, the specific law 815 ILCS 525, and told them what it meant. He is also incorrect, his drawing most certainly does/did fall under that law. Their ad specifically stated a purchase was necessary, 1 purchase per day resulted in 1 entry, no option for a free entry. They just don’t like being told something publicly, there was no mal-intent. I actually HAVE patronized the store, I’m downtown at the courthouse quite often, he has no idea who I am. 🤣 I also went in with a friend when they were in the Metro, about once or twice a month. In any event, I passed on the information to the Illinois State Attorney General, which I would not have done had he not reacted so poorly & blocked a regular customer, who will no longer be a regular customer. I have switched to another popcorn shop nextdoor to my Dentist.
The owner is running an illegal drawing. Per (815 ILCS 525/) Prizes and Gifts Act he must allow free entry to the Mother’s Day drawing for free popcorn. He is requiring a purchase, one entry per purchase per day. I told him of the statute & he blocked me, so I’m reporting him to the Illinois State Attorney General’s office. Very dishonest people running this place, very questionable character.

Melissa, thank you for your review. What resulted in you being blocked off of our social media page was your public shaming and attacking a business that you do not even patronize. Your words were not for education and clarity and progression, but rather to harm and destroy a local business. The contest you are referring to actually has a "no purchase necessary to enter" availability and does not fall under the Illinois Law that you are referencing. You are welcome to come into our shop and take part in the entry of the contest just as everyone else is able to do, because there is no purchase necessary to enter :)
