I stayed in the Palmari lodge and had an absolutely amazing time there!! The place is absolutely beautiful, the people are so nice and the overall vibe is fantastic. You’ll have a personal tour guide that will take on on (multiple) tours a day if you want that and you can choose what you want to do. The nature around is breathtaking and your guides will give you plenty of knowledge and insights on it. Absolute recommendation for anyone that wants to visit the Amazonas!!
The days at the reserve were some of the best of my travels! The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and passionate about nature. The atmosphere was welcoming and warm. The food was amazing, homemade, fresh. The location itself is peaceful and far from crowded touristy spots. The tours are personalized to your interests. We completed a multi day jungle tour, which was truly beautiful and unforgettable. I am usually sceptical with guided tours but this one was just perfect! I learned so much about plants, animals and the ecosystem. Kayaking and swimming in the calm river, and marveling at the giant ceiba tree, were also highlights.
Truly a unique and immersive nature experience.

What a magical place! The location is private and offers much peace and relaxation with the right touch of adventure and activity. The lodges are well maintained and cozy. I went in expecting to be uncomfortable at night in the hot/humid temperatures, but the private lodge had two well functioning fan systems and I even felt a little cool at night, which was perfect! The staff is incredibly friendly, our guide was Sebastian, he was very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. We know only a little conversational Spanish, but he was so patient with us in communication with him and he made us feel comfortable practicing our Spanish with him. The Ceiba tree is a can't miss activity! We also got to see the pink dolphins! There is plenty of opportunity to explore the grounds, check out the watch tower for amazing views and relax in hammocks around the property. The one thing we didn't get to do was the day trek due to rain, but otherwise, we enjoyed many of the activities offered. Oh and the chef, Marta, was fantastic as well! I would recommend this ecolodge to anyone who wants an adventure and a memorable experience of Amazonas life.

Wir hatten als Familie eine richtig tolle Zeit!!! Palmari ist wunderbar gelegen. Der Fluss, die Ruhe, die Natur, die Weite. Wir waren 5 Nächte dort. 2 Nächte in Hängematten, 1 Nacht im Dschungel-Camp und 2 Nächte auf den Matratzen. Ein dickes Dankeschön an unseren Guide Walter, Andrés und Ana-Maria, das Küchen-Team mit dem leckeren Essen und natürlich das Team im Hintergrund. La verdad todo fue mágico, desde el viaje por rio desde Leticia donde vimos decenas de delfines rosados y grises hasta las madrugadas para ir a pescar. La Reserva es espectacular, la comida muy buena. Nuestro guía Diego fue el mejor con sus mas de 30 años de experiencia en la selva y sus historias. Pescamos muchas Pirañas, vimos micos, osos perezosos, cocodrilos. Vivir la selva en pleno. Todo el personal super servicial, incluso con personas que tenían un poco de miedo a la selva. This is not a trip for the faint of heart. If you're uncomfortable with bugs, hesitant about wildlife, or not ready to disconnect from modern comforts, this may not be for you. But if you're open-minded, curious, and respectful of nature, this journey will reward you in ways few others can.
If you're thinking of visiting the Amazon, come prepared—both mentally and physically. This experience can be one of the most extraordinary or most challenging of your life. The outcome will depend largely on your attitude, your respect for the environment, and your willingness to step outside your comfort zone.
We stayed at Palmari (end of April - towards the end of the rain season) a remarkable reserve where the staff goes above and beyond to ensure guests are well cared for. From the moment we were picked up at the airport to our return journey, every detail was thoughtfully arranged. The team made sure we were safe, well-fed, and engaged in meaningful daily activities, all tailored in advance to suit our interests and energy levels.
Accommodations at Palmari vary by budget. We chose a private cabin connected to the reserve, which offered a comfortable bed with a full insect net, access to running water (including warm water—though in the heat of the Amazon, cold showers felt better), open wardrobe and terrace to view onto the river. Daily meals were served in the communal space at set times, allowing us to share stories with other travelers. The communal space is the only place with electricity and where you can charge all your electrics (remember to bring a head lamp) Essential gear such as insect repellent and rubber boots for trekking were provided.
But a truly great experience here doesn’t come from amenities alone. It comes from within, from understanding that you're stepping into one of the planet’s most delicate and awe-inspiring ecosystems. That spider in your room was there long before you were. The rainforest is not yours to conquer, it’s yours to humbly witness.
When my wife and I considered traveling to the Amazon, we weren’t entirely sure. A close friend recommended Palmari, and after some research, we decided to go for it. We knew we had to be at peace with the reality of the jungle: insects, spiders, snakes, piranhas, dolphins, heat, humidity, and torrential rain—just to name a few elements. And yet, Palmari turned this wild adventure into one of the most meaningful experiences of our lives.
We were incredibly fortunate to be guided by Andrés, a seasoned Uruguayan traveler with deep knowledge of the Amazon (volunteer), and Rudi, a kind and knowledgeable Brazilian expert whose passion for the rainforest was infectious (guide).

Un lugar muy interesante de difícil acceso y mejorable en cuanto al mantenimiento. Nos alojamos en las "habitaciones" mas caras y francamente, no están a la altura del precio: Las paredes necesitan una mano de pintura y todas las mosquiteras estaban agujereadas. El complejo podría ser espectacular si estuviese mas cuidado . El acceso fué de 4 horas por el Amazonas en una lancha que se caía a pedazos.

Y hemos comunicado a nuestro sub-proveedor de los transportes fluviales la inmediata revisión del bote que fue encargado del transfer fluvial de su reserva, tras lo cual lo revisaremos también nosotros, disculpándonos de paso por este inconveniente. Nuevamente muchas gracias por su reporte objetivo y claro, nos ayuda mucho en mejorar y entender detalles que requieren de revisión, refacción u otra gestión; nos encantaría que considerar una segunda visita para corroborar que todo lo expuesto en solución y mejoras no son solo "palabras al viento" sino efectivamente cumplimos, visita para la cual le(s) otorgaríamos un 15% de descuento como detalle de "good will & disculpas" sobre lo conocido de parte de Usted. The complete experience! When you arrive at Leticia, the Palmari staff will be there to pick you up and everything after that is taken care of. They get you back to the airport or hotel after as well! The guides and staff are excellent, and there were volunteers who were able to translate on our adventures. We slept a night in the jungle in a hammock! Great experience, it is a choice, but if you want to do something like that, I would recommend it! we saw so many animals, the food was amazing, and the staff super friendly. Ka was a great guide, and he showed us baby cayman at night, we also held one. It is definitely worth to visit!

A Magical Stay in the Heart of the Amazon
We spent an unforgettable nine days at Palmari, and it truly exceeded all expectations. For nature lovers this is an ideal location. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by the incredible staff and volunteers, who made our stay both comfortable and adventurous.
Our guide, Diego, was fantastic—his knowledge and sharp eye made spotting wildlife easy and exciting. Every day brought new discoveries, from Pink River Dolphins to the elusive Jaguarundi! One of the highlights of our trip was a special night camping in hammocks deep in the forest—an experience we will never forget. Falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle and waking up surrounded by nature was both thrilling and peaceful.
The food was absolutely delicious, and after long days of exploring, it was the perfect way to recharge. Whether it was trekking, canoeing, or simply taking in the stunning scenery, there was never a dull moment. Monkeys, squirrels and a diversity of bird species can be spotted right outside your cabins.
Everyone visiting gets their own guide for the complete stay. If you don’t speak Spanish there are plenty of English speaking volunteer ready to help out.
Palmari is a true gem in the Amazon, and we can’t wait to return one day to explore even more! Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and adventurous jungle experience.

Palmari is the real thing: beautiful nature, a big variety of acticotoes (day and nightwalks in the rainforest, camping in the rainforest, kayaking, fishing for piranhas, trips to the local community, etc.), excellent guides and staff, tasty food, etc. And at reasonable prices, too! Highly recommended.

Wir hatten ein tolle Woche in Palmari. Fantastisches Essen, sehr freundliches Personal, guter Guide, tolle Ausflüge, eine super Gemeinschaft mit den anderen Gästen. Unser Zimmer war groß mit einer kleinen Veranda und Blick auf den Fluß. Die gesamte Anlage wird sehr gut gewartet. Morgens wird man von einem Vogelkonzert geweckt. An- und Abreise waren perfekt organisiert. Die Idee, dass hier alles im Preis inbegriffen ist, auch der persönliche Guide, ist außergewöhnlich.
