This is a great office to visit if you are looking for an uncooperative and accusatory ophthalmologist office. I’ve been going to this office for multiple years and have worn glasses longer than I can remember being without them. I went in for a routine yearly check-up and noted to Christopher Clark, my doctor for this visit, that I had noticed worsening nearsightedness. He initially made a comment about how my eyes seemed to be dilated and noted that they shouldn't normally be so dilated, which felt random, but considering I have nerve damage from a surgery when I was younger, which causes my pupils to react more, I brushed it off. Instead of taking time to work with me and ask detailed questions, he rushed through the standard procedure and was incredibly unhelpful in finding any solution for the blurry vision I was experiencing. Instead, he told me flatly that my results weren't adding up and said, “I don’t want to accuse you of lying, but you’ve gotta help me out here…”, after which I tried to explain what I was experiencing with my vision, only for Christopher to shut down my questions and concerns without giving me the chance to explain or ask anything else. His only suggestion to alleviate my concerns was to not wear my glasses while performing close-up interactions, for example, when I’m on my phone or using a monitor, and then suggested I might just need to blink more often. At this point, I felt extremely frustrated, not only was this man insinuating that I was lying about my vision problems, but he seemingly had no intention of getting to the root of the issues with my vision. My eyes were starting to fill with tears due to the heavy emotional toll of this interaction when Christopher asked me, “Do your eyes normally water this much?”, which felt completely inappropriate considering he was present when I started getting upset that he wasn’t listening to me. At this point in the visit, my mom, who was with me because we had back-to-back appointments, spoke up for me and mentioned I was crying due to the situation, and then Christopher began trying to make jokes and be playful, seemingly in an attempt to make up for his previous actions with no real reconciliation of the situation. I have never experienced such an embarrassing, judgmental, and inconsiderate visit to any professional eye doctor's office, or any doctor's office for that matter. When my mom tried to complain to the front desk workers, they didn’t seem phased by my mom's comments regarding the disrespect we were shown and gave absolutely no comfort or apologies. I can only speculate as to why this appointment was so horrible, but regardless of the reasoning, nobody should be treated with the amount of disrespect that I was shown. This incident will forever shape my experience at eye doctor appointments moving forward, so I must warn everyone to be prepared for this mistreatment when you attend your own visit.
