Beautiful glamping site, incredible setup with a fully equipped shared kitchen that’s decorated beautifully and has space to sit and relax or eat if the weathers poor. The bathrooms are great, everything is done to a superbly high standard. Genuinely can’t find a single fault with it, if you want somewhere relaxed, quiet peaceful and lovely this is the best glamping site I’ve found. You’re within walking distance to the pub in Woolsery too and there’a a supermarket a 15minute drive down the road. Place is amazing will definitely be back to try a blacksmithing course and check on the rather lovely spaniel that keeps the place safe
My Dad and I booked the one-day knife making course as birthday presents for each other, and it turned out to be one of the best gifts we've given. From start to finish it was a brilliant day.
Our instructor was Jamie from Bastion Forge, who was fantastic, patient, genuinely friendly, and happy to share his knowledge at every stage. He made sure we both felt confident at the forge regardless of experience, and his enthusiasm for the craft really came through. Getting to make something with my own hands, alongside my Dad, made it all the more special.
The setup at Old Pound Smithy was great, and we came away with knives we'd made ourselves and a day we won't forget. We're still over the moon with the day and can't thank Old Pound Smithy and Bastion Forge enough, thanks guys.
Super awesome day swinging a hammer and a wonderful place to stay everyone was super lovely. Couldn’t ask for anything more

Fab little break, love the decor of the cottage, very colourful bright & cheerful. A few bits made out a wee bit tricky, I’m quite short & struggled to reach shelving (the struggle is real!) Could have done with more towels & tea towels, but minor issues. Very responsive & accommodating host.

Hi Lenny, We're glad you loved the decor of the cottage. I'm sorry you struggled with the shelving. I'm guessing you didn't find the folding step ladders we keep in the cupboard. For a two night stay we provide two beach towels for the hot tub, two bath towels, a hand towel and a tea towel. If the stay is longer we provide extra tea towels. We're always happy to provide additional towels if requested, but also want to try to minimise the environmental impact of creating too much laundry, where sustainability is at the heart of the ethos of Old Pound Smithy. We hope to welcome you back again in the future.
We stayed onsite in a glamping bell tent and did a blacksmithing taster session too. The whole experience was so special.
The tent was amazing with comfy bed with carpeting, luxurious bedding and electric blanket. The decking porch was wonderful to sit on watching the sunset, and the sunloungers and firepit BBQ also great. The setting is so peaceful and natural and the birdsong glorious even though it woke us a few times!
The toilet and showers are modern, smart and work well. And the provision of a funky inside lounge/diner/kitchen (shared with others) was a wow factor.
As to the blacksmithing, wow what a great class. David is a gentle and calm teacher, who not only knows his craft well but teaches it so clearly and patiently and gives just the right amount of support and help tailored to the individual. We had an amazing time and love our bottle opener creations.

Did a day knife making experience here, it was fantastic! Jamie, our instructor was up on his H&S and we had a great time trying to make knives like you see them do in Forged in Fire, brilliant day for anyone who wants to see what forging is all about

Group of 8 for the forging day, Dave and Matt were fantastic, great blokes loads of enthusiasm. We made bbq skewers and steak flippers and forks. Really good day, would strongly recommend!

What a delightful place to spend an evening.
Dave has clearly spent a lot of love and time in building the Old Smithy.
I’ve stayed in a fair few yurts but hands down these are the nicest with a wonderful “hub”. The yurt and the facilities (shower toilet and kitchen) were immaculately clean.
Dave was super helpful and accommodating with a last minute booking after we were let down by a hotel we had booked.
That hotel did us a favour as the Old Pound Smithy was far nicer and cheaper than the original hotel booked.
Thanks again Dave. I think we will be returning again in the future now we have found you 🙏🏽

We had a wonderful stay at Old Pound Smithy Glamping. Bex and Dave are fantastic hosts who truly can’t do enough for you and make you feel so welcome from the moment you arrive.
The grounds are beautiful, incredibly peaceful, and with no light pollution the night skies are amazing. Waking up to the sound of birds chirping was the perfect start to each day. The yurt and bell tent we stayed in were cosy and warm, and the electric blankets were such a thoughtful touch.
We especially loved the hub area where we could relax and unwind on the sofa in the evenings. The facilities are excellent, and there are some great beaches nearby which made the location even better. We’d absolutely recommend staying here and would love to return!

We stayed in one of the bell tents and it was decorated beautifully. Felt so cosy and the electric blanket was a very nice bonus. We unfortunately went on a very rainy weekend but we still had the best time. The hub and bathrooms where immaculate. Everything you needed.
We will 100% be coming back again.

Had a half day tuition session, really enjoyed it and learned a lot.
Will definitely be investing in a further session in the future, Dave the blacksmith was a great teacher and managed a class of 5 very well, spending enough time with each student to give them adequate support and assistance.
