Sensei Matt makes the class fun, but he has high standards. He teaches the skills well by breaking down the individual steps required. When my son has trouble, he provides specific feedback to correct the motion. I love how he is holding the kids to a high standard and providing corrective feedback rather than just going through the motions.
He does a great job giving each student individual attention while keeping the class moving at a good pace.
OCKC has been instrumental in developing and helping to build hard work, resilience, and respect through the attributes instilled by karate for our children. It’s been over a year since we joined, and both are always looking forward to attending class. We have enjoyed being apart of this dojo, and look forward to continuing with Sensei Matt.

Sensei Matt is an awesome teacher and makes learning fun and interesting for the kids. My girls have been attending his class for over a year and loves his class. It's also nice that the make up classes are flexible within the same week.

My daughter is on the shy/quiet side when it comes to new people and experiences. Sensei Matt with his perfect blend of professionalism and warmth immediately made her feel comfortable. You could see how she right away became focused on what he was teaching rather than the nerves she had been feeling prior to her first class. Within the first few weeks of taking the class I could see improvement in her reflexes and even she noticed it, happily telling me, "Mom, a ball was about to hit me at recess and I did a karate block so it wouldn't hit my face!" She has a good time during class and is very engaged in the various activities and games during each session. She now attends two times a week, and is loving it. I'm not a relative nor a personal friend of Sensei Matt, but I do hope he succeeds. As far as I can tell he is a genuinely good person, great with kids, and karate is his passion.
I cannot say enough to overstate what a great class and instructor this is. Sensei Matt has an incredible talent working with kids. Both my kids have been going here for over a year and I have seen them grow in skill/strength/confidence/discipline. We look forward to seeing them achieve in such a safe and encouraging environment. Thank you, Sensei Matt.
