Unfortunately, we did not get the chance to stay at Le Mirage, as our booking was cancelled on short notice due to a “private event”. The cancellation came very late, which made it difficult for us to find a new place to stay.
They recommended another lodge to us, but the price offered through them was about 2,000 NAD higher than if we had booked it directly ourselves (around CHF 100 difference). Because of that, we decided to make the booking independently.
Sadly, the new lodge was far below our expectations. It felt like mass tourism, the atmosphere was not pleasant at all, and the overall experience did not match what we had originally planned. On top of that, my partner ended up with food poisoning, which made the situation even more disappointing.
It does not feel right or considerate to cancel confirmed bookings for a last-minute private event, possibly because the lodge might earn more with it. If a lodge has guests booked, those commitments should be honoured.
Overall, this experience left us very disappointed, and we hope future guests will not have to go through something similar.

Absence totale de wifi pendant la durée du séjour. La piste de 21km pour accéder à l’établissement est en mauvaise état ( manque d’entretien) pour le prix très élevé on s’attend à mieux.

Absolutely terrible experience! Stayed at Le Mirage, Sossusvlei on Nov 12, 2025. The hotel laundry ruined my brand-new white dress, staining it yellow, and the staff kept delaying, avoided responsibility, and even held onto my dress after I left Namibia.
On top of that, the hygiene in the hotel is shocking – when I woke up, the bed and bathroom were covered with countless insects, like a scene from the apocalypse. The service, facilities, and overall environment are disgusting. Completely unacceptable for a supposedly four-star hotel.

This property is WONDERFUL, from the warm greeting on arrival, so the gorgeous facilities. Its location to Sesriem (Dead Vlei) and Namib Hot Air Ballooning make it the perfect spot for a stay. We only wished we had spent more time here to enjoy the gorgeous spa, pool and quad biking experiences. Will definitely be back.

This location is marvellous. The sundowner ist Just amazing. The service is funny and kind. The food is delicious and the rooms are spacious. Looking from a Europe perspective to this lodge it incredible, what kind of effort is put in a literal Mirage in the middle of the desert. This hotel is at most a 3 star hotel, not even close to a 4 star hotel.
☺ The location was good
☹ The room was not clean, old fashioned, no internet anywhere at the hotel (we could not communicate with our guide as we did not have a sim card and there was no network for roaming). The hotel staff were amazing except Desiree in the reception that had an attitude and did not explain anything to us, and even though the wifi was not working and had to communicate with our guide she wanted to charge us for a 30 second call to a namibian number. Eventually the manager made the call for free and were able to communicate with our guide. The food was ok.

Staff excellent. Room spacious. Everything else average at best.
Good stuff: Very friendly and professional staff. The cleaning was excellent. There's enough staff everywhere to help you with drinks or a pool towel and cushion if needed. The room itself was very spacious, although incredibly dark where the coffee station is situated, no privacy for the toilet, and great big massive curtains without enough curtain hooks so half of them just blow all over the room when you want to open the windows. That's it for the good stuff. The food was by far the biggest disappointment. Dinner consists of the worst 5-course meals you can think of. We don't think it's the quality of the chefs. More the thinking behind these terribly planned 5-course meals considering where in the world the lodge is located. They are trying to be fancy and it simply isn't working. We were served raw fish, without being told, on a bed of warm salad. That was one teaspoon which comprised the whole first course. We were served a few spoonfuls of the most boring butternut soup we have ever had. That was the second course. When the local meat was served, either in a pie or as a small steak, that was absolutely excellent. But the portions were tiny and the veggies around it were not seasoned and lacked any creativity or flavour. The coffee served at breakfast and at 3pm each day is just good enough. The coffee in the rooms is fantastic. You get one pouch of coffee grinds per person. But a coffee plunger only big enough to make one coffee at a time. So you must make one coffee, then clean out the plunger, and start brewing the second coffee. Breakfast is also very average with no extra effort made to make breakfast special. Just cold meats and cheese presented amongst damp lettuce and carrots, some spreads and some bread. The water is served with a lot of lemons or cucumber. You can order an omelet with some bacon and sausage ... again, the sausage is awesome. The fridge/freezer in our room was so tiny and over frozen that it was basically useless. The pool is not big enough for more than one person or group of people to use at a time. I'm sure I could think of plenty of other minor issues with our stay there ... but all-in-all this place could be absolutely mind-blowing but in reality it is greatly overpriced and only really worth it if you are doing the hot air balloon in the morning and don't have your own transportation.

☺Die Lage des Hotels ist unglaublich. Eingebettet in die Landschaft, kann man den Ausblick genießen. Dies meisten Mitarbeiter waren freundlich.
☹Am Pool gibt es zu wenig Liegen für die Gäste. Das Essen ist durchschnittlich und kommt von der Qualität nicht an das Essen ran, das wir sonst auf den Farmen bekommen haben. Gebuchte Fahrten zu den Dünen sind teurer als bei anderen Lodges. Wir haben eine Fahrt zu den Dünen bei einer Nachbarlodge gebucht. Dort war direkt auch Verpflegung enthalten. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis in dieser Unterkunft fanden wir nicht so optimal.

☺Ich war zum zweiten Mal in diesem Hotel und es ist noch immer so schön wie es damals war. Die Lage ist außergewöhnlich. Man ist von da recht schnell in Sossusvlei.
Die Zimmer sind großzügig angelegt und sehr schön. Der Service im Hotel ist sehr gut.
Wir haben immer wieder Oryx Antilopen und Schakale gesehen. Der Sternenhimmel dort ist atemberaubend schön.
☹Die Atmosphäre im Team ist manchmal angespannt und manchmal hat die Freundlichkeit darunter gelitten. Wir sind im Okt 25 da gewesen und das Hotel wurde gerade verkauft, möglicherweise hat es damit zu tun.
