This fish shop is a little way for me so only go when i have a few things to buy. Been there a couple of times. The shop is an Fish Cave of so many fish, shrimp, plants and hardware, everything you might need for a new or advanced Aquarist. They also have a pond side but im not knowledgeable about ponds so wont comment for that side. I was after a perticular species of Otocinclus which the hobby can get wrong selling them as other species. I messaged the manager to ask if they had them and said they did so i decided to go see them. They pointed me to them and they were the species i was after. Really happy. I also got some male yellow Tigar Endlers, Blue Dream Shrimp and Pigmy Corys. All are so healthy as the shop quarenteens them and does the medication? when they come in. The staff are really helpful and answered all my questions about what they are fed, how often and when they were fed last. They also told me how long they had been in the shop. The shop also does live food such as bloodworms, brime shrimp etc. Thank you to the staff. I will be back for Bloody Mary Shrimp when they get stock in. They will let me know.
Ps I did take more video but Maps only allow 30secs, there was about 3mins worth of showing all the stock.
A real Aladdins cave of a shop with so much stuff packed into a seemingly small area. A good selection of fish and even some cherry shrimp and crystal shrimp out back if you ask. They have a large and healthy selection of plants which they have assassin snails patroling looking for pest snails. Staff friendly and helpful, will be returning for more plants and fish soon!
What a fabulous find! Travelled from Worcester today (only 25mins) and very easy to park near and walk to. The shop was fantastic! So much stock (fish, plants, accessories, food etc) and really helpful staff who both took the time to advise and help me find everything I needed for my new aquarium. Would highly recommend this shop to anyone in the area or anyone from a distance, as its hard to find place like this with the knowledge and stock. I will be back to choose my Betta soon, once new tank is cycled. Thanks for your help.
It was genuinely distressing to see fish kept in tiny, bare tanks — no space to swim, nothing to explore, just glass walls and endless stillness. Research shows that cramped environments raise cortisol levels (Groeneweg et al., 2011), leaving fish lethargic, anxious, and unable to express natural behaviours (Schroeder et al., 2016).
It’s a form of silent suffering — like living your whole life in a cupboard. These are sentient creatures, not decorations (Sneddon, 2019).
Larger, enriched tanks aren’t just kinder — they show respect for life, and more and more customers do notice. I really hope the store rethinks this. The fish deserve better. I’m not against the sale of fish — I actually came in hoping to buy some. But I was concerned by the conditions, and felt I couldn’t walk away without saying something. I know this might be hard to read, but it’s said with genuine respect.
It’s not about blame — just the hope that, like many shops are starting to do, you might consider making small changes that could really improve life for the fish. I believe most people, including the owner, want to do the right thing when they’re given the chance.
