Patrick has the most compassionate and creative way to connect with students and make maths tangible and enjoyable. His incredible depth of knowledge is combined with an ability to explain its practical applications and make maths enjoyable for students. Most importantly he cares about the PERSON and their own subjective journey in the topic. Highly, highly recommend!!
Apart from just having the required wealth of knowledge required to be a good teacher, as long as I have known Pat(25 years) he has always been extremely passionate about helping his students not only understand and learn but also become better people at the same time.
These qualities help elevate him to another level..
I’ve had the privilege of being trained by him, and I can honestly say he’s one of the most impactful coaches I’ve worked with. His ability to simplify complex ideas, challenge your thinking, and build your confidence at the same time is exceptional. He pushed me to grow, to reflect, and to develop my own coaching style in a way that felt natural and empowering. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely elevates the people he works with, I couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

Patrick is a phenomenal tutor and great mentor. I had the pleasure of having him work with me when I was 17 and it gave me a tremendous amount of confidence and drive to try searching for my goals in life. He is patient, wise, knowledgable and exceedingly hard working at maximising the potential of whoever he works with. Couldn't recommend him highly enough!

My son Lewis had Pat for P.E. tutoring. Lewis had been out of school for up to 2 years through his autism and was trying to secure some GCSEs. Pat was very professional, adhering to Lewis's demand and quirks, as a child with autism needs to feel safe at the same time as they are learning. Pat put both our minds and Lewis's mind at ease and proceeded to help him answer and learn the curriculum. Lewis is now a qualified Level 3 Fitness Instructor. Any parents needing extra tuition for their child, even if they have some special needs, Pat comes fully recommended.
My daughter Jordanna had Pat for both her GCSE Math's and her academic writing when she was setting out her thesis for her teaching degree. With her Math's, she would generally know how to answer the question, but sometimes found it hard to get started on which direction to take, so Pat help guide her on the different topics so she knew where and how best to answer the question.
With her academic writing, it was showing her how to reword and juggle her paragraphs to make the content flow more naturally and be better understood by the reader. Again, she passed her degree and is now a fully qualified teacher, so I have no issues in again recommending Pat, as a very good tutor, who will also listen to the students as well. 10 out of 10
We engaged Pat as a tutor to support our daughter in the run-up to her GCSE Maths exams, an excellent experience and we were delighted with the results. Pat took the time to understand her strengths and identify the areas where she needed extra help, tailoring each session to her individual needs. He was flexible and responsive, allowing her to lead the direction of the lesson, and adapting his approach whenever necessary.
Patrick’s interpersonal skills helped him create a calm, friendly environment that put my daughter at ease and helped her build real confidence in the topics they covered. Thanks to his supportive and thoughtful teaching style, she achieved the results needed to gain a place at her Grammar school 6th form.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tutor who is both skilled and genuinely supportive.
I would like to highly recommend Patrick McCarry as an educator, as a life coach and as a person.
I've known Patrick for more than 30 years. My daughter became his “student” when the parents of her travel soccer/football team in Princeton, NJ, US hired Patrick as an assistant coach. After a short period of time we realized Patrick’s invaluable skills in communication and interactions with children and his extraordinary educational capabilities and were extremely lucky in convincing him to become the main coach of the team. He continued to work with this group of young females for almost ten years.
As a parent, I’ve observed and appreciated Patrick’s personalized approach to the members of this group of young girls with different levels of physical and psychological development. He was able to convince the strong, bold and aggressive ones to temper their instincts to benefit collective efforts and he encouraged the shy and weak to be brave and decisive. From early on Patrick treated his students like adults, with respect and understanding of their emotions and feelings. The children interacted with Patrick during the training sessions and weekend games, usually two or three times in a week. He quickly became their unofficial “parent”, as children shared with Patrick some of their life experiences and sought his advice on various subjects. He became a role model for all of them and to this day they express their gratitude to Patrick and consider years under his tutelage as one of the best things that ever happened in their lives. It's no wonder that my daughter became a teacher herself having been influenced by Patrick’s work with her and the team.
Patrick’s professional skills were equally impressive to me personally, especially after I started to help him as an assistant coach during training sessions and games. He is one of the most meticulous and organized persons I've ever known: he’s never been late to a practice or a game no matter what was happening in his personal life; he always has a plan for any educational activity, be it a theoretical or practical one; his delivery is never dull or boring as he uses jokes, irony and light-hearted humor to break inevitable dominance of teacher’s part in a usual teacher-student relationship. In my opinion, Patrick, as an educator, has the unique ability to explain complex “grown-up” concepts to young children and adults and to convince them how vital education is to their personal success in life.
Once again, I can't find enough words to praise Patrick McCarry as an educator, a personal friend, a great guy and a wonderful human being.

Pat tutored my son in Maths partway through YR11 for GCSE. My son had hit a confidence issue and this had an effect on his love for the subject. Pat built back up his confidence and passion for the subject, working through areas where development was needed. It was a really positive experience and would highly recommend!

I highly recommend Pat’s maths tutoring. Pat is friendly, approachable, and welcoming. He takes a fun and engaging approach to teaching maths, and took the time to get to know our daughter. Over six months of lessons leading up to my daughter’s GCSEs, Pat significantly boosted her confidence and understanding, helped her develop a more positive attitude towards maths, and provided targeted support in areas where she previously struggled. His guidance made a noticeable difference. My daughter enjoyed her lessons with Pat and worked hard to achieve an excellent GCSE result.
Pat has been tutoring my two sons for a couple of years, and in that time their maths skills have improved enormously. Even more importantly, they have developed a genuine love for the subject.
Pat has been fantastic at adapting to online lessons, and has gone far beyond simply teaching. He has encouraged, supported, and motivated them throughout, always helping them overcome any challenges along the way. We are truly grateful.

Pat tutored my son for GCSE maths. Pat is extremely approachable and immediately engaged my son, especially through their shared love of Liverpool football team! Pat made the sessions enjoyable and my son improved from a mock grade 6 to a final grade 7. We were so pleased and we’ve referred Pat to several friends who have also utilised his services for their children and been equally impressed. Pat is a great tutor, and I highly recommend him.
Over the course of several years, Pat has provided invaluable support to both my daughter and my son throughout their time at secondary school. His guidance has made a significant difference in their understanding and confidence in maths.
Pat is an incredibly patient, dedicated, and approachable tutor. He has a unique ability to break down complex mathematical concepts into simple, easy-to-understand steps. His calm and encouraging manner creates a positive learning environment, where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring topics at their own pace.
What truly sets Pat apart is his ability to make learning enjoyable. He finds creative and engaging ways to present the material, which has helped my children not only grasp the subject more easily but also develop a genuine interest in it.
I can’t recommend Pat highly enough. Whether your child is struggling, aiming to boost their grades, or simply wants to deepen their understanding of maths at any level, Pat is an outstanding choice.
Pat tutored both of my daughters for 2 years each to get them ready for the 11+. Both of them did extremely well and secured a place in grammar school. Pat was brilliant with them, they are both very different personalities and he flexed his style accordingly, making the tutoring sessions fun yet stretching and ensuring they had homework to do for the following week. He is patient, sympathetic and above all is really passionate about learning. I would recommend him without hesitation. Thank you Pat!
Meet the “Maths Whisperer”!
Pat has been tutoring our kids for a number of years and his ability to breakdown the subject, make it interesting, and fun, is second to none. Aside from the obvious improvement within the exam sphere, he has instilled a genuine curiosity in a subject that can generally be difficult to add colour to, especially where kids are concerned.
Perhaps the biggest compliment I can pay him is that there is never a roll-of-the-eyes or protestation when it is time to log on.
Through recommended, though not if it makes him so popular that we lose our slots!!
