Really nice ambience and atmosphere. The waiters are always paying attention and have really good recommendations. The food was brought out quickly and was always warm. Their vanilla ice cream is to die for and goes amazingly well with their cheese kunafa. I ordered a lamb shank for myself and it had enough lamb to feed 3 people 😂.
I used to just get delivery from Mazzat (it was always one of my top choices on Seamless), but I recently moved closer to the restaurant, and got a chance to dine in person, and absolutely loved it!
Same great food, but the atmosphere and staff are great, and it’s become a go to date night spot for us.
Highly highly recommend the half grilled chicken (I’ve had it dozens of times), and we always order the garlic shrimp. Can’t wait to head back!

I order take out from this place all of the time and the food is great. The food is even better if you go in person. Particularly like the half chicken and hummus!
Update: I was in Istanbul this summer for the first time. The hummus here is better than what I had there!

My partner and I happened upon this spot before going to see Yob at Pioneer Works. I was instantly drawn to the interior, which gave off a very cozy, intimate vibe. Definitely not pretentious or trying too hard to be something it's not. It struck me as a great date night spot.
As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the bartender/server, Joel. He was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the specials. After hearing the items we were interested in he asked if we were vegetarian, which I said we were and he said, "That's great, so I am". He told us that the Vegetarian Middle Eastern Platter was a good choice to sample the various foods they have. He also suggested the Lemon Eggplant special and since we were in the mood for soup, also ordered the lentil soup. It was Happy Hour and we wanted to celebrate so we also got the house red wine, which ended up being quite tasty. (As someone who typically doesn't like red wine).
I noticed as we walked in, that there was an older couple sitting outside. At one point, another couple came and sat at the bar. I could tell they were regulars by the way they spoke to Joel and seemed to genuinely enjoy seeing him and hanging out at one of their favorite local bars. I also noticed a third couple with a child come in. It just goes to show that no matter what the occasion or who was dining there, the restaurant was good for everyone. There were several other waiters who would periodically check-in and refill water, etc.. so the service was also excellent.
All of the food was excellent and very satisfying. Joel was spot-on with all of his recommendations. After we ate, we were delighted that the chef had come out to ask how our meal was. It was such a breath of fresh air to have that level of personal interaction and shows that he really cares how the food he is serving is enjoyed. I told him that I live near the Middle Eastern area of Astoria and his food is right at the top of others that I've tried.
All-in-all we had a absolutely great time; the food and drinks were great, the staff was super-friendly and attentive and the price for the quality of food you get was incredible as well. I can't recommend Mazzat enough and we will definitely be back.
